Goddamn. 5 f'ing years. Is this the longest a console has gone without an official and lasting price cut?

I still can't believe they temporarily dropped the price last fall (and only on the premium), only to boost it back up in January. The gaming industry is woefully out of touch with modern consumer expectations on pricing curves.

You can't sell 8 year old hardware for $300-$400 dollars, it's insane.

They dropped the price only to bump it back up again? Bloody hell. No wonder the market's is screeching to a near standstill, the consoles are far too overpriced. We should be near $99 territory at the moment. At the rate it's going, the current consoles probably won't drop more than $50 when the PS4 and One are released.

Madden NFL 07 (Electronic Arts) - 264K
Call of Duty 3 (Activision) - 164K
Need for Speed: Carbon (Electronic Arts) - 147K
Fight Night Round 3 (Electronic Arts) - 121K
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 (Activision) - 120K

The installed base was 932K at the time.

(Someone please correct if wrong.)

Does anyone have the 360 equivalent? Or other equivalents?
