Why?

Phil's decisions have been great for gaming.

No first party exclusives.

Simultaneous PC and Xbox releases.

Gamepass.
I know people have down on Xbox lately, but I’m excited to see what the next Xbox will look like. So much talk about Xbox being a PC that runs Steam. If I could turn it into my all in one machine and play my PlayStation PC ports on one box along with my legacy Xbox titles, that would be the last time I need to buy multiple devices.

How old was the first image? Because he's been the head of MicroSoft Gaming for ages. I always comment about him being sneaky and promoting himself to it because Xbox is dead.

As others said, this is not really news. However, back when it did happen, I did comment that this suggest Xbox as a brand is going to die, and that Sarah Bond is your typical Glass Cliff sacrificial victim. Being given a promotion that would end badly for her. (As mention in Wikipedia, often women accept such jobs because it is one of the few opportunities for promotion available.)

Microsoft Gaming is going to live on just fine. Xbox, not so much.

I'm sorry but when the CEO rebrands his own Twitter job description...the fact he removed Xbox and is now writing Microsoft Gaming says everything about the state of Xbox as a brand. He literally killed Xbox. How are his decisions good for gaming? The 3 points you mentioned were reactions he needed to do because he was failing to compete at selling games (Gamepass) and made MS go on a buying spree that ended up with Xbox needing the revenue from other platforms to actually have a sustainable business. Even with COD the Gamepass increase was...not even that big.

The first 2 happened because he failed to sell 2 different console models and MS had to do something.

The only thing Phil did that was great was to boost Sony's numbers as we saw this past quarter. They have no one else to compete with right now at least until Switch 2 releases.

Except like others have said he was moved to head of MS gaming in late 2023, seems he just now realized his Twitter was not updated by one of the interns

I expect the next wave of Microsoft’s news to be xbox being marketed heavily as a windows platform, not the other way around.

What possible gain does MS has with a PC that runs Steam?
Valve will get 30% of the cut, not MS.
They want to promote their own store, not Valves.

The Xbox fanatics have to find wins everywhere and this was their big switch a while back when they became PCMR fanboys. I don't think they're aware that Linux is also a thing and Windows is pushing people down that path. ZorinOS is a freaking cakewalk OS that worked with 99% of the games I wanted to play. I'm only on Windows now because I think Win10 is a terrific OS that should have been their last OS.

IF there is a new console/PC hybrid that lets Xbox players bring their Xbox libraries along with them and have access to Steam and cost around $1000 the market will be so incredibly small for that machine

I do know some that would be interested in it but not many

But Xbox will have other options for those not interested in such an expensive machine

You always seem to know more than you say... If this was the fellowship, you 'd be Gandalf...

He's had the new title since sometime 2023, Sarah Bond is the Xbox president now.
Based on this Sara is head of hardware/operating system and Tim is head of publishing and dev studios.... So Tim is the face for the good/bad decisions regarding devs/publishers or exclusivity, not Sara

I’d argue literally all of those are terrible for gaming

I don't know about gaming as a whole, but they killed Xbox.

So, if you were heavily invested in the Xbox ecosystem, they are terrible. If you were already a PlayStation or Nintendo gamer, you just got a lot of franchises previously withheld from your system of choice.
