Playstation 5 Pro reveal youtube video has more than 150k dislikes right now

Like I said organic marketing is going to be what sells the PS5 Pro more than anything other than GTA6.

DF will downplay the PS5 Pro now, but even they'll be unable to make excuses when games come out and look better and play better on the PS5 Pro.

The market is going to dictate how well this thing does, not the internet. And my guess is FOMO is going to set in really fast for people.

You said all of that, now ask yourself how many people have the downloader extension. Even at 4K youtube compression is trash and isn't going to give the real impression of the differences between Ps5 and PS5 Pro.

One thing a lot of people seem to be struggling to understand is the comparison of two pictures and saying they look the same as if that is a slight against the PS5 Pro... but what they don't understand is that's actually a great early sign.

If the PS5 Pro can replicate 4K while natively rendering at lower resolutions, that's a sign that PSSR is really impressive. Ultimately we're going to see what developers do with this, but I'm already sold.

I'm super excited for the tech - I love DLSS and lossless frame generation for handhelds is amazing. Let's hope it ends up delivering!

Playstation decision making has been awful for awhile now. And when that happens you look towards the top

I can't believe that this is out in 2 months. Will be time to jump into my backlog starting with games that are enhanced at launch.

We're going to get a constant stream of what those launch titles are and what their enhancements are and I'm guessing a lot of the discourse around this console will change.

It will also change if the base mode of CoD is 120 fps on PS5 Pro.

Makes you wonder how Sony is doing so well with Playstation then.

They're going to have a TREMENDOUS fiscal year... Helldivers 2, Astro Bot, Wukong, CF25, PS5 Pro, Disc drive sales, anniversary plates and controllers...

tempered expectations on until dawn and lego horizon, but pretty confident they're going to have a better year on OI than they did last year.

You're right, I was a dev.

I found whale-hunting distasteful though, so I quit.

Reality remains that some people are willing to pay a lot of money for their toys, be it a $2k GPU that they don't really need, or spending a fortune on cosmetics for their GaaS of choice. In the context of that, a moderately more expensive console seems like a complete and utter nothing-burger to me.
That's fine and I'm not going to try to offend with more hyperboly. If it's console people are after, so be it.

I feel my processor carries me for longer and my GPU of choice, a 7900gre, set me back 539€ which feels hefty since the second most expensive card i bought was a vega56 for 350€. I am never worried about graphics or performance since I can just turn something down if required and it never impacted the quality of the game. Since the 7900gre is sitting comfortably in CP2077 i turned stuff up and I still get the same amount of wonder of a somewhat cohesive world.
A 2k GPU is alien to me, as are the 800+ ones. No value in that when i can cycle twice in the same time games are supposed to increase in graphic fidelity when most are getting upscaled from the console ports.

I get double use out of every hardware purchase since I hand my still-good-stuff down to my brother.
I also buy every nintendo-platform out of principle to play it for a few hours, then hand it over to my nieces but that's a different thing ;)

Full-year (12 months ended March 31, 2024)

Only half a year down the dump, so 200mil/8/2, 12.5 million. Might survive.

Not sure whether you know how business works.

They've already paid for Concord. That's part of operational costs for the last 4+ years. While they would hope for positive revenue from Concord in this fiscal year, it won't be enough to derail the success they had with Helldivers and Astro Bot, not to mention Wukong driving sales as well.

I was just joking. Anytime I can shit on Concord I gotta shoot my shot.

What about people who mostly own physical version of the games?…..fuck them?

They are literally forcing people to pay extra $100 on top of $950 CAD for console itself if you want play the physical games you already own.

Its fucking stupid and greedy as fuck.

Forcing them how? They bought a console and they bought games for that console.

If they WANT a PS5 Pro and WANT to play those specific games that they bought on a disc or future games on disc, yes they'll WANT to buy the disc attachment.

No one is being forced to do anything though.

There are lot of people who own physical copy but they might be interested to owning "Pro" so yes they are force people to pay up $100 if they want to play physical copy their games.

Especially the fact file size for games keep increasing and with added "graphics" the file size will becomes even bigger.

I dont know how you guys can be okay with this? When I buy console I expect some fucking basic feature like a god damn disc drive.

Personally my biggest concern is they pull the same crap with PS6.

Roughly a 1:4 like to dislike ratio

I'll go out on a limb and say they are going to at least announce a pack-in game for the Pro. That and announcing some new and exciting first party games in the next few weeks around TGS should calm things down. Maybe?

Still isn't a necessity nowawadays with the increase in digital only consoles/media and that's a point that comes up countless times while R&D'ing these machines. Latops have been omitting disc drives for over a decade at this point due to the digital age and where the market has shifted towards. I will say again it does suck and I wish this wasn't where we were headed, but this has been a reality for quite some time now. Sony is just now joining the fray after Microsoft released the digital-only One S. Hell the Nintedo Switch Lite is digital only too with no option for physical media AND puts a limit to what games you can buy. You want to play Super Mario Party on your new Swtich Lite, well you have to buy some Joy-Cons first and a stand unless you makeshift one. What consumers need to do is start pushing them into allowing physical copies to be redeemed for digital licences, or not purchase digital games to show that physical is needed.

If Pro is aimed at ~10%* of the userbase, the ratio isnt bad at all.

If we are to go by (dis)likes.

* based on PS4 Pro sales being about 10% of total PS4 sales

I don't know if this adds to the conversation or not but ...

Ratio-wise its the complete opposite ... much smaller sample size tho.

The bolded is so true. This game is on my "put it on the backlog and wait for the PS5 Pro" list to play after I get my PS5 Pro

I can't to play this at 4K\60 with 3x Raytracing!!!

People think this ain't going to effect the sales
Just 2 weeks ago peoples power killed concord.
Mark my words this anger will show in sales

How many PS5 Pros do you think Sony believes they can sell this holiday season worldwide? More than a million? Less?

People say they rather get a PC for that price. So why don't you have one already? It's not like if PC just came out. Truth is that you probably don't have the budget for that either.
Not everything on the market is made to be bought at your price range. You can't be mad at corporation to try to capitalize on big spenders specially when there's an option at lower price.

Makes you wonder how Sony is doing so well with Playstation then.

Sony won last gen/digital library portion. Then Xbox keeps screwing up. From an exclusivity standpoint, Starfield was supposed to be that iconic game that made PlayStation only users jealous and tempt switching. Instead, the game wasn't great. It's easy to get by when fumbling the ball when the opposition is doing comparatively worse (Nintendo has its own separate userbase so I don't think they apply here).

PS4 Momentum & 3rd Party, everything up to the release of the PS5 was gold.
They're just riding the wave's
I love PlayStation. I've owned every PlayStation console, even the handhelds and PS TV. That's why it really pisses me off to see the direction they're heading in. They've been acting in a way as if they think sales are assured just because they're PlayStation. And the worse their mistakes become, the worse it's going to get for customers, be it lack or variety, insane focus on unicorn demographics, or pricing that's completely out of touch with reality.

Sony has been like this for a minute, it just comes and goes during each generation. We're talking about a company that came out the gate with $500 and $600 base PS3 models.

It's funny- apparently they listened to the fans and withdrew Concord from sale and refunded all people who purchased that travesty.

Will they now listen to the fans and reduce the price of this console ($1199 Aussie dollars for fucks sake) before release? Or will they just close their eyes, block their ears and pretend as if no one is complaining until AFTER launch when no one buys this overpriced shit? Lets just hope the pre orders are extremely soft and they start to get an idea that in a cost of living crisis, prices like this are beyond crazy and not a way to treat loyal fans of the brand.

Oh, 100%. And they paid for it big time by almost losing the generation to Microsoft. They had to do a lot of soul-searching, improve their game output/ecosystem, and enact serious price cuts to get back on top. The PSN hack was their low point, and after being humbled by that and expressing some humility, they really entered a golden age of quality and variety in their games all the way through the PS4 generation, headed by visionaries like Shuhei Yoshida, Adam Boyes, and Jack Tretton. I'd rather not see them go through the same arrogance/humiliation cycle again, but it looks inevitable.

Out-of-touch bean counters at the top pissing money down the GaaS well and several other bone-headed decisions have all but assured they've eroded the years of goodwill they carefully built up with their customers.

I've seen this movie before.

Not really the same, that was literally a long tech talk with nothing on show.
This was 9mins with nothing to show because there is nothing to show.
Any negativity to this is because of price, lack of Disc Drive and visual difference to support the asking price.

This is a total apples and oranges comparison. The reason that video had so many dislikes was because people thought they would be seeing the first look at PS5 games instead of an hour-long lecture. The reason the PS5 Pro reveal has so many dislikes is strictly because of the pricing.

So there's 60+ million people being constantly upset with their PS5 purchase? How does that work exactly?

You're saying that as if gamers legit don't like the PS5 that they bought. It's slightly odd way to present your point. Its as if you believe Sony hasn't done much good during the PS5 generation. Weird.....

Inflation is worldwide. And inflation is real. Not sure why you believe the price of the PS5 makes them out of touch with reality. Have you seen the price of the iPhone 16 Pro Max?
