I'm so down for Walkabout Mini Golf, especially since it's a PS+ game. As long as one person has a DLC course, everyone can play it.

It's quick now too because everyone can play at the same time rather than wait turns, up to 8 people in lobbies. It'd be fun for sure.
I have the game with the first batch of DLCs (I bought the "premium" version at release)

I never played the game multiplayer tbh, and I suck at this game, but I am down to play it!

We just need to check for the timezones as I am in France and IIRC you are in the US. If you are "close" to the east cost its more than manageable imo (timezone and lag wise)

Thanks. I bought a PSVR2 headset plus PC adapter so I’m aware of the sweet spot but that brightness, colour and black level is something to behold. Looking forward to seeing what hdr looks like.
Welcome to the club! I absolutely love the colours and how dark and bright games can be, it is fantastic and a well worth having a narrower sweet spot because of that. And I agree with PanzerCute PanzerCute said, imo it is very easy to get used to the sweet spot. Btw, he mentioned the game that remains among my favorite VR game ever: Resi Village. Pretty there is a demo available. It is a phenomenal experience in VR.

I'm east coast.

let's just have a password and if anyone wants to play, just post in the thread or tag someone. I have the thread on "watch" so I see whenever someone posts.

For a password I suggest nofatchicksallowed, or maybe gafvrcoop

So far tried Call of the Mountain and Res Evil 4 demo. The graphics were fantastic and somewhat surprising. As good if not better then PCVR graphics.
The haptics were also amazing. Head haptics was a new thing for me and I'm really glad Sony had the vision to include it. It does add to the immersion.

I didn't realise that you can start the PSVR5 with the headset plugged in and VR straight away. No tv required. That is a very welcome feature.
Seems you can play all your flat screen games in VR as well. I've not tried the media apps like Netflix yet.

Yea, there's the virtual screen but it honestly makes flat games look rough as hell to me. It's weird because I did that with PSVR and Village, prior to the actual VR mode, and it was a really cool experience and quite immersive on the giant virtual screen, haven't had luck with PSVR2 but it does incorporate HDR and VRR to flat so it does have some legit use. There was a rumor thst Sony is working on the dynamic foveated rendering for flat games and that would be awesome, I really hope it happens some day. That being said though, watching 4k movies on the virtual screen can be pretty cool.

As for VR media, there's nothing available via the PS5. Just the 'rad' streaming service but it's not worth the money unless you want to sideload VR videos but I haven't tried that so not sure how good it is. The streaming/VR selection within rad itself is hot garbage.

That’s a shame. Guess I’ll be using the PC for that.

Cool to see new people here.

Thanks Thank You GIF by SWR3

We should try some multiplayer some time!

The sweet spot is not really an issue imo: it was a pain for the first 15 minutes but you will quickly understand how to find it (and hold it) in a second.

Regarding OLED and HDR, it's really as amazing as people say: colors pop like crazy, the blacks are deep as hell and the contrasts are often a sight to behold. I remember the first time I arrived in the pitch black castle basement in RE8 and I was terrified to go on, even tho I already played the game before.

The one thing you will probably notice tho is the infamous Mura. Like the first scene in RE8 is very bad for that, and it can be distracting at first in GT7. But tbh its a small and very rare annoyance apart from that. And one tip: put the headset brightness down to like 70%, it will help a lot.

Enjoy! PSVR2 is the highlight of this disappointing gen for me.

The main menu launch screen in Village is one of my favorite VR spaces, something about that corn/hay field blowing in the wind, with the ever changing time of day and it even changes seasons too. Wish more games did that, but I loved every time I went back in to RE8 I had that welcome screen to admire and sit in to gather my nerves haha.

Man, Village is so freaking good in VR. I already loved it flat but VR is easily the best way to experience that game. I didn't know the main menu changed on seasons, that's really cool.

I absolutely adore the main menu in Village! I loved how things were changing, such a top notch VR title from the very beginning 👌🏻

I might be mis-remembering, but definitely it changes ~4-5 times though out a playthrough. As you clear the various bosses and unlock new sections. Goes from daylight to evening moonlight (really bright HDR moon too), to night with a fire in the background and embers flying through the air, etc.

Something weird happened to me yesterday when I started playing RE4 Remake on my PC (non-VR): It felt strange controlling Leon and watching his complex animations being all done with just button inputs, like I entered some kind of uncanny valley where the more realistic the game moves, the less I felt I was actually controlling the character, to the point it turned me off from the game entirely after the whole "Bingo" section. Not to mention trying to clumsily aim with the thumbstick got me killed more than once during that section, It all just feels backwards, and I know I wouldn't have sucked so hard if I was playing in VR. I need to get myself a PS5 Pro and PSVR2.

On the road to building my library. So far bought Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4, No Man's Sky and Hubris.
The graphics continue to impress. To b honest I'm surprised just a how good the graphics are.
The haptics are frankly amazing and I'm loving that I don't have to muck about with PC settings etc to play a high end VR game.

Red Matter 2 should be high up on your list too, it makes really good use of the headset vibration feature which I haven't experienced much in other games yet - and 7th Guest and Horizon are pretty sweet too, one for puzzles and if you have any nostalgia for the older game and the other is a nice action VR / adventure climbing game without much horror like REs. Good luck with Village, if you've played it before you know what to expect, and can get to the good stuff pretty quick, it's entirely different in VR. If you haven't played it yet, oh boy. Just do your best to get ~10 hours in once you are comfortable with the controls and it clicks, many people find it more immersive than RE4.

Red Matter 1 and 2 are some of the best VR games in available if you're into Sci-Fi.

They are also some of the best looking games on PSVR 2.

Synapse is pretty great as well.

And Pavlov (TTT mode specifically) is one of the best MP games of all time.

Walking Dead 1 and 2 are great.

Zombieland is good too, try to get it on a sale.

Have not played it before so it's going to be quite a ride.

As others have also said Red Matter 1&2 are great but I have those on my Quest3. I might double dip on Red Matter 2 for PSVR2 just for the visuals.
I'll also pick up Horizon. The demo was great.

Pavlov. Don't sleep on it.

TTT is amazing. It's much much better than the Quest version if you've played that.

Just realized that the PSVR2 enables a useful hack for streaming via Elgato/OBS.

The PS5 doesn't like to output audio to two separate things, it can lead to audio not registering whatsoever in Elgato/OBS, you can stream direct from PS5 of course but many games are dark as balls. There's a workaround but involves an aux cable and results in audio lag.

I just realized that if you plug in and turn on the PSVR2, Elgato/OBS are able to get the audio. Not sure why this happens but pretty cool.

FINALLY got the adapter for PC and so far my experience both on my main rig and on my wife's rig is basically flawless.

ZqTYKlP.jpeg

PSVR 2 OLED screens just elevate Alyx to unbeatable heights. Everything is so vivid, contrasty and alive. DP video signal is also crisp af, nowhere the blurry beatstream mess from Oculus. Wow. Quest 3 or Index for that matter are step below for me if we talk about IQ and immersion because of how good PSVR 2 outpits the signal.

A few tips from my own very extensive research and experience before buying into this story:

1. Adapter brand and even BT version hardly matters. Both adapters that I use are chinese no-name Realteks with btle 5.3
2. What really matters is Category of your device. You need Cat 1 BT for signal to withstand 2.4ghz interfierence (preferably look for a dongle with external antenna)
3. Choose USB2 port and use an extension cable, USB3 and your mobo can directly interfere with the signal
4. If you have problems with controller tracking just delete ALL BT drivers from your PC and let the dongle re-install them again via plug'n'play, solved tracking issue for at least 3 people that I know. And I mean all BT drivers, including every BT device individually and then common Windows BT driver.

Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

This game is great. It truly feels like you are wandering around an abandoned Disney World filled with horror.

I can see why some reviews roasted it but I also feel like they missed the point. Lots of critiques call out bad mini-golf physics. It's not a mini golf game whatsoever, they're just there to indicate thst you're in a new area and to unlock the next zone. It's a walking sim with easy puzzles. The meat of the game are the rides and set design. You clip through most things but you can also interact with just about anything. Flinging chairs 200 feet in the sky, breaking glass, etc.

Horror Disney Land walking sim meets conkers bad fur day humor. Such a fun experience.

FYI, game is locked 90 but social screen outputs 45.

I was a big fan of Until Dawn: Rush of Blood on PS4. How does Switchback compare?

Launched in a bad state, inferior in every way, even graphically, I haven't seen a single person say they liked it better. Patched a time or two later, and it comes somewhat recommended now, but my feeling is it still doesn't compare to Rush of Blood and most people would rather see that ported on PSVR2 than getting Switchback.

It’s okay, but there are too many quiet/slow moments, and a not very exciting track layout (no vomit inducing drops like the first game). The patch did improve the visuals though, so it looks nice at least.

It’s decent if you prefer a more slow building atmosphere, but if you want non stop action and thrills, it doesn’t cut the mustard imho.

I wished they had ported Rush of Blood.

Randomly just bought a bunch of games on sale. Including Arizona Sunshine Remake, which apparently would’ve only been ten dollars if I waited until release day… I’m not gonna cry over 20 bucks or whatever, but honestly “hiding” that upgrade was pretty scummy imo. Especially when you put the preorder on sale. Yeah, now I’ll probably skip the sequel just out of principle.

Yea, I think you have to have AS installed and then maybe the $10 upgrade is within the game menu itself or something. Someone was talking about it on YT.

I'm just waiting till launch day to figure it out, lol.

Some info from Max Mustard team Toast Interactive (reddit)
We originally released Max Mustard on Meta Quest in March this year, a platform with over 20,000,000 headsets. The game was incredibly well received and players loved it, so we knew the logical next step would be to bring it to other platforms. Over the last 7 months, we’ve focused on the PlayStation version, which launched on October 3rd.

Now we all know that the PSVR2 hasn’t quite received the attention or hardware sales it truly deserves, with approximately 2,000,000 units shipped (10% that of Quest). Despite being a fraction of the market, Max Mustard has sold BETTER on PSVR2 during the first two weeks of launch than it did on Meta Quest. We thought this was an interesting statistic that breaks the norm of what the industry is seeing.
