The GT7 Pro patch for PSVR is ......

Fine.

Yes LOD is improved also re-projection is non existent now as well. But re-projection wasnt bugging/noticable to me during races in the first place. Way better in Replay mode where it was hella noticable. Overall LOD is better but PSSR while good does add a touch of shimmer in places if you really look for it.

It should be. I've just managed to pick one up direct via the website myself.

Bit disappointed that Call of the Mountain isn’t on sale. Any ideas where I can pick this up cheap?

Im little disappointed as for me too many artifacts when enabled new reprojections mode so I play without it and without it I cant see differences to be honest. Btw there is no pssr on psvr2 gt7 (no pssvr at all for now for vr)

It is probably VERY hard to implement PSSR on titles using foveated rendering, due to the different simultaneous resolutions on the same frame and the very low starting resolution of the lowest areas. Maybe not solvable.

Pssr for now is not even available on api level for psvr2

So, after 1 month with a PC adaptor I can honestly say that this is the best PCVR option if you okay with tethered headset and closely follow the steps to remove PC-based BT problems (bought adapter with an antenna and use USB 2.0 with an extender).

ETS2 is clear as day and silky-smooth, along with MSFS 2020. Even without HDR the OLED screens are just magical, Alyx is almost lifelike on every settings. It was also spotted that the internal PSVR2 App branch is updating fairly frequently so Sony will release the patch to iron out some tracking kinks soon.

Psvr2 horizon bundle after price drop 25th on amazon, not bad
Please talk me out of getting this deal lol I have the cash but also a Quest 3 and I know this thing is basically dead from a release perspective and I hate wires…

Just to chime in and say I agree. Holy fucking shit this kicks the absolute shit outta the quest 3.

HUGE disagree on that but it is solid.
As a tethered PC-only headset it is miles above Quest 2/3 because of way-way better OLED screens, clean honest DP output (and not video packet) and zero latency. For sims expecially, since for MSFS and ETS2 my setup it wired as hell anyway.

Quest 3 is a nice wireless option though with more relaxed sweet spot, but it's very hard to come back from prisitine PSVR2 IQ to muddy and dim Quest 3 screens.

Most VR enthusiasts think the opposite of what you're saying. Every big VR channel that had compared them, almost all went back to quest 3 because of a clarity and I agree. I've been a psvr2 user since almost day 1. It's a solid option but the argument that quest 3 visuals are "muddy" by comparison is the opposite of true. I have no problem with either but this hyperbole that one blows away the other is ridiculous.

#22 right now. Also, cool to see Quest 3 being high on the list. Wish VR would take off, it is so awesome.

Quest 3 resolve more details and pancake lens provide better sweet-spot, but pancake design is also loses a lot of brightness and PSVR2 blacks are just magnificient. Sweet spot is not a problem when you get used to it too, but of course this is all personal matters.

100 nits on Quest 3 are simply not good for my usecases and I prefer real color and contrast in my games. Happy for big VR channels though.

I can't vouch for either PSVR2 or Quest 3 but gosh playing Silent Hill 2 on Quest 2 via Virtual Desktop really made me wish I also owned a PSVR2 with the PC adapter. Those dark areas were rough with the compression artifacts. (Even though every other game I played is fine, including Metro Awakening which is probably even darker) And having to use DLSS to help performance likely made things worse on that front.

There's three major weaknesses on PSVR2 IMO.

Mura - this is minor except in certain situations - recently Metro Awakening showcases the Mura pretty badly, and certain other games that rely heavily on darker fog-like environments it can be quite noticeable. But it's present in almost every game, including GT7 on the asphalt, etc.

Edge to edge clarity - The PSVR2 lacks clarity along the outer 20% of your FOV. Put text, particularly bright white text on a black background along the edge of your view and it's unreadable. It exhibits a dozen different issues, god rays, blurriness, triple images, and worse. Something pancake lenses fix. Not a big deal in games, largely speaking because you look at the center for most stuff and turn your head when needed.

Mixed reality / passthrough. It's not really debatable I guess, not a feature, so cool stuff like Triangle Strategy in MR can't happen.

Back in the VR club. Haven't played VR really since probably pre pandemic. Seem some posters mentioning the product value of Call of the mountain and yes it looks nice as hell. The moving forward is pretty annoying though.

But any underrated hits? I have beat saber from psvr 1 and I have Kayak from PS plus. Will probably get moss 2 at some point as I enjoyed the first.

2. PlayStation®5 Pro
 - PlayStation®5 Pro support has been added, with the following features:
  ・ Added a mode that combines higher Image quality and frame rate performance by fully utilising the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) for PlayStation®5 Pro;
  ・Ray-tracing for reflections has been implemented during races. (Please note 'Prioritise Ray Tracing/Resolution' must be selected in the Display settings);
  ・Support for 8K resolution;
  ・Improvements to rendering quality in VR Mode;
  ・Smoother video motion in VR Mode by utilising the VR Positional Reprojection function.
I love the new Pro mode in GT7, despite obvious occlusion issues. It’s just so much clearer and smoother. I hope this mode can make its way to other VR2 titles with updated SDK dev tools.

Some games I absolutely adored: Demeo (playing with friends is a must, imo), Moss I & II (the second title is sublime), Resi Village and 4, NMS, Puzzling Places, Red Matter 2, Light Brigade, Synapse. Recently I bought Arizona Sunshine Remake and Phasmophobia, can't wait to play them!

Good shout! I completely forgot about RE8. I got it like 2 years ago but for cheap but was holding out for VR. RE7 was pretty awesome in VR

So after having spent the majority of the day using PSVR 2 and Quest 3 on PC, I can honestly say that PSVR 2 is a better experience, for me anyway. I'll take OLED over gray blacks, even if it does come at the expense of slight image degridation. The PSVR 2 is also much, much easier to set up and really is a plug & play situation - No more messing around with virtual desktop or the awful air link bitrates and resolution settings to get a "fine" experience. Games are much, much smoother on my rig now because of the displayport direct connection.

I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised at how easy it was all to set up, and it just.. works. I was expecting bluetooth issues as per the general consensus online, however my cheap shitty chinese 4.0 bluetooth adapter powers through for some reason and works perfectly.

I haven't even plugged it into my PS5 yet haha, bought resident evil 4 AGAIN just for the VR mode so gonna try that next.

Difficult for me to take your opinion seriously after what you said a few posts up and before that. I just don't believe you've tested quest 3 also. Not because its impossible to like one or the other but because of what you've said previously. It doesn't add up.

The idea that one "blows away" or "kicks the shit outta" the only works in these psvr2/quest echo chambers. If you go to actual sim or even mainstream comparisons between them, enthusiasts have an opinion that is mostly consistent and it's not even remotely close that psvr2 blows away the quest. That only works here. You'll only get traction and likes here for that sort of opinion. Not even r/psvr would that work.

Not sure what you mean? The previous post to the last one I made was my opinion that I think (at least in my case) that PSVR 2 is a better option for PC than quest 3. The post after that reaffirms it?

Quest 3 has better image clarity, that's true, but the true blacks that the OLED provide are what makes the PSVR 2 better by default imo.

I edited my post above. Essentially, I don't believe you've tested both based on when you said certain things. It doesn't add up.

I'm not shitting on either option, perhaps as you say the "kicks the shit outta" talk came from enthusiasm at the time for trying out a new gadget, so fair point there. But I literally have both headsets sitting together and have spent a good chunk of the day comparing them - and I don't really care for "official" opinions from the "sim" or "mainstream comparison" folk. The judge here is my own eyes.

Both are excellent. The PSVR 2 I feel is better in my opinion.

It's not that deep.

Am I the only one here who really likes Jurassic World Aftermath on VR2? I think there definitely could be a better Jurassic VR Experience but for what it is or wants to be...
I'm a huge fan of this franchise and the game, although it has this cartoony look, nails the vibe of the movies. It has this excellent and familiar soundtrack, Jeff Goldblum and BD Wong lend there voices and hiding and sneaking around Raptors can be pretty thrilling.
And somehow I like the story too.
Everytime I watch one of the films, I like to come back to this game for an hour or two!
