Never tried VR before, but this sale has me wanting to dip my toes in, plus the rhythm games looks cool like drums rock and beat saber
Feel free to ask us any question you might have! I pre-ordered mine when they started selling it and never looked back. My very first VR hardware, though I had previous experience with others headsets, and I simply love it. Plus, I think VR is such a great way to game even though it isn't going to supplant traditional gaming, which is great.

How much do you use it vs regular gaming now? Does the novelty wear off a bit in a few weeks where it feels more like a gimmick? Or do you actually feel like going back to it over traditional gaming? What’s the gaming library like? How many games can be held on it? Is there tons of Wii like shovelware or would you say the games overall quality of games are getting better?

While there's definitely a honeymoon phase for a lot of people, the novelty doesn't go away IMO. Everytime you go back it is just as amazing, it's just that it's impossible to ignore the endless amount of GOAT/GOTY flat games, especially if you have limited time.

It also goes without argument that the average level of VR is constantly improving, along with the hardware, so it's an exciting field to follow, where generations/improvements regularly come in half the time as consoles (when you branch out beyond just PSVR).

There's definitely near 100 games or more depending on how much variety you care for in genres. If your idea of a game is a AAA experience, and nothing else counts, then VR will be rough. But if you like all sorts of games, there's a TON of great stuff out now.

Just picked up Legendary Tales on sale and preordered Behemoth. Loving the psvr2, very happy coming from quest devices, particularly the quest pro.
Legendary Tales is very clunky at first but once you get the controls its a pure blast. Definitely in my top 5 for the system, brilliant game!

I think Minsc Minsc was spot on, I will add some things. First, I still play more VR games than flat (though I lack free time nowadays), but there are awesome flat titles I can't skip. They complement each other. There are some gimmicks here and there, but as a whole, VR is awesome. It is still an emerging tech, but quickly evolving and things like gameplay, control and even development logic and interface have already advanced a lot and are more consolidated. There are a ton of shovelware, but there are way more awesome titles.

A few things I def wanna try asap the saints and sinners game think it comes with ps plus? crossfire Sierra, drums rock, pistol whip, synth riders, synpase, arizonia sunshine, max mustard and horizon comes with the bundle.
Of those, I played Horizon (pretty cool game), Synapse (fantastic use of eye tracking and gorgeous art) and Arizona Sunshine (though technically way too basic, the coop campaign mode is nice and the gameplay is top notch). There is a demo for Drums Rock, it is cool, just not my type of game.

Some recs I have: Demeo (crossplay VR and flat) if you have friends to play with, Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Red Matter 2 (it is gorgeous and shows how crisp a game can be on PSVR2), Sushi Ben (anime in VR?!), No Mans Sky, Light Brigade and Puzzling Places.

Oh and... Welcome!

If you're entirely new to VR start with stationary games to get used to VR first. Pistol Whip or Beat Saber would be a good place to start.

Depends a lot on you. I've talked to very few people who mostly switch to VR.

The novelty does wear off, and that novelty is world-rocking at first. But that's okay because with the novelty worn off you can really appreciate what it brings.

For me, VR is 'heavy duty' gaming. I use it just here and there, because I want to go in for long sessions that mess up my mind lol. A 6 hour dive when I'm home alone feels like I took a day trip to whatever game I'm playing. It's amazing.

For me, it's not just the stimulus from the game, but the blocking of stimulus from outside. Sensory deprivation, or maybe sensory replacement. When I'm done, I say 'i needed that'. I never used VR that often, but when I want it, there is no replacement.

Enjoy the initial rollercoaster when it's just blowing your brains out. That's when even mid games seem amazing lol. After that, there's no way to know how you end up feeling about it. The best predictor seems to be your desire for immersion. If you are already the type who goes a little out of their way to get all the lights down, the distractions out, and the headphones on, you are more likely to like it in the long run.

God damn I find myself wishing for VR support in so many of those games. :< Gran Turismo sport got halfway ruined for me once I had dirt rally for psvr1. And why the absolute fuck would I ever play an re game again without VR? I could go for a lakitu mode in pretty much any AAA game I've played.

What accessories should I also get with my PSVR2 order?
Depends on what games you plan to play, if you have glasses, etc.

If you plan to play GT7 then I highly recommend a racing wheel.
You can get a flight stick for several released and upcoming flying games.

There are prescription lenses from several good brands/sites that are very nice to have instead of risking scratching the actual headset lenses with glasses.

Then there are also comfort mods like pads, straps, etc.

I have ceiling pulleys. When playing games standing, I really like natural turning. As in, actually physically turning around instead of paying the camera. They're cheap, too.

They usually come with little clear stick and pull hooks that you keep on the ceiling. This will be a deal breaker for some, but I do not notice at all. I also replace the ones that come with the pulleys with 3m command hooks so you can remove them without yanking off the paint when the time comes. Then I attach piano wire to the police so I can reach up to them and put them on easily. Then, after the first time getting the setup right, Mark the spots in The wire with some tape so you know where to put the pulleys next time.

That will be too much hassle for some, but I go in for long sessions so setting that up for a minute and then taking it down after is worth it. I also got some indoor shoes/slippers so that my bare feet are not reminding me that I'm actually in my home all the time.

I'd say not to go overboard at first, and address the problems if they become problems. Certainly the comfort mod will be money well spent - but beyond that, a simple mat on the floor can be all you need to ground yourself away from walls.

I personally wasn't happy with the earbuds, and upgraded to wired IEMs which made a huge difference for rhythm games which are music focused, and also made RE games a lot more scary sounding lol. But other than those couple things, I didn't feel I needed much more. I don't really have the space for a ceiling feed system for the wire, but that sounds pretty cool, but then again I didn't really find myself wanting to turn too often in my standing gameplay, mostly 90-180 degrees temporarily then return back once the action cools down.

Edit: Like I don't even know if you'd want to use the headset mod initially, even, until you've learned how it feels/moves around without any additional straps, so you know the issues and then can also understand the difference in comfort when it's added.

I can't imagine playing a racing game not in VR anymore. Horror games are another genre highly elevated by VR as well its hard to go back. After playing all the Half Life games in VR (on PC) I can't go back to flat for those either.

You're absolutely right... and with that I just bought it.

The weird thing is I bought it for $349.99 but upon checkout they deducted an additional $32.00 and was instead charged $317.99 for the subtotal, including Sales Tax, Fees & Surcharges it was $337.07 in total.

Good deal.

Oh I see, It was an open box item that I ordered hence the additional discount.

I cancelled it and ordered a new PSVR2 and the total was $370.99.

Fuck it, the discount for a used item would have to be much greater for me to consider getting it, otherwise I might as well get it new.

Plus now it's arriving tomorrow.

If you want a MP game, buy Pavlov (even just) for TTT mode.

I rarely play MP anymore and this is easily my favorite MP game in recent memory. It's like Among Us with guns, it's fantastic. One of the most slept on games of all time imo.

The algorithms at work.

Every high profile game that comes out immediately has videos saying it rules and fucking sucks just for engagement baiting.
I think reason here that psvr2 pre patch version was in broken state so if somebody has luck to not getting game braking bug he was cool with game but reviewer without luck then less so ;d On the other hand whats the value of reviewing broken version without patch when everybody playing will have day 1 patch. But its also Skydance mistake not only reviewers.

I prob should have asked this or looked it up prior to ordering lol, but I do wear glasses more than my contacts, the more I read some say a lens protector is almost mandatory? Any insight into this? I see some are prescription and some are juyst plain ones to let you wear glasses.

Yeah apparently day one patch is a night and day différence, which kind of explain why Skydance sent the codes so late: it feels they were battling to release the patch asap but went short and reviewers had a bad build.

From what I read from people who played the game for several hours, the game seems polished and perfectly fine with the patch.

Maybe not mandatory but you can scratch lenses with glasses so better use contact lenses or order special for psvr2 like for example https://honsvr.com/product/psvr-2-p...4g-fwcL3jNoUOWZNOZwk88wv-ntNs0NYaAqpHEALw_wcB (tough do some research as I dont know which producent is best)

make sure the pudding isn't too soggy but that just ruins everything
New people: if your face starts feeling flush, then take a break. IMO this is the #1 indicator of sickness, and if you temper your playtime based on this metric you’re likely to build VR legs quickly. You could have multiple sessions in a day if you don’t push too hard. Just take a break, your brain will reset. If you push it to the point of even mild nausea, it’s not really productive.

Would the Plano ones be fine too if i Just want to wear my glasses while playing? Or are wearing glasses a no go with vr no matter if the lens are protected or not?
Will be same as with phone ;d will be safe but then you can scratch it and you have to buy another ones (thats my guessing, Im playing using contact lenses, people that ordered special ones for psvr2 are happy tough know some producents are better than others)
Probably best ask on redit on psvr channel, find there some other recomendation
