PS5 Pro Patch Workflow For Existing Titles Is Very Development Friendly, Says Dev

An anonymous game developer and member of the Retarded Purple Forum, who goes by the handle of Koralsky, has shared some information regarding the PS5 Pro patch process for titles that are already available on the base console.

He mentioned that he is currently working on two games that will offer native PS5 Pro support:

I am working on two games that will have native PS5 Pro support. One unreleased and one already on the market. Both are open worlds in 3D, using UE4.27+ and UE5.4.4 (Lumen RTGI, AO, Reflections and WP) respectively. The new game will be out around PS5 Pro release. We are planning PS5 Pro update for the older title to be online around PS5 Pro release as well. Hope I can share more info soon, but I can say the update workflow for the new console is very development friendly - even for a very small studios like us. Also, even without native support our game was running MUCH better as we are using DRS and unlocked FPS (up to 120). So I am expecting excellent results in every PS5 game using DRS and/ or targeting 60FPS or more.

Last month, the same anonymous developer had confirmed on Reset Era that the PS5 Pro's AI-based upscaling technology, PSSR, will not be available in games that use earlier versions of the PS5 SDK that don't come with PS5 Pro support. Older games that support DRS or target 60 or 120 fps will benefit from the more powerful console without the need for patches (via boost mode).

Just going by TLOU2, it should not be very difficult to get a very good increase in clarity at or even above quality modes at 60 fps. I doubt they spent too much time on it.

It will take more effort to see genuine Pro modes, using Ray Tracing or the additional Raster available....but still probably not a monumental effort.

Is the pssr considered as a pro enhanced feature ?

Can you think of a title like that coming out this November? And what is WP? Are Pro versions waterproof?

Infinity Nikki? Never heard of it before, but fits the profile.

Empire of the Ants releases Nov 7 and was recently confirmed to run at 60fps on Pro only:

But it's unlikely as I can't find anything about a previous UE4 game.

Little Big Adventure?

Under a Rock?

Ark II?

I'm sorry: what does DRS stand for?
Dynamic Resolution Scaling.

Huh it was PSSR that I thought was super easy to implement on older games. Guess I read it backward.

Anyway, glad to hear it's simple to do. Honestly can't wait to see how gta6 will perform and the Pic quality.

Meanwhile: "Adding DLSS support for games is very difficult. The PC knows that im not wearing a black leather jacket when coding so will not compile anything" - Also a dev.

Was featured in some infamous State of Play I think. Their previous game is Shining Nikki and could very well be made with UE4. So yeah. Nice catch!
Perhaps, but Infold games is headquartered in Singapore.. not sure how likely it would be for a dev to post on Era.
But who knows, could be. I've added some other possibilities to the post though, some are unlikely, but a couple could be as probable as Infinite Nikki.

What game could it be? :pie_thinking: Koralsky, from the word Korea? An existing game that has open world for November launch. Hmm, could it be
Stellar blade the existing game and Stellar Blade DLC crossover with Nier expansion is the new game? :messenger_beaming: Just kidding.

It's okay if its Stellar blade but I realy it hope it's Elden Ring, but its impossible since From Software has no new games this November.

After all, it's "AI crap that no one wants" according to market analyst Mat Piscatella.

sarcasm on
Wait you're doubting someone on that site? I mean how could you possibly doubt a forum consisting of giants. Literally ask them, most of them are over 6' 2". Next thing you're going to tell me you doubt some of them when they claim to have important jobs like lawyers and prosecutors just because they haven't heard of advanced law like the 10th amendment.

So Bloodborne ps5pro patch is coming, right?
I was looking at the Gamestop description of the PS5 Pro features this morning on their pre-order page, and one of the bullet points says: Enhanced Image Quality for PS4 Games.

I'm not sure what that really means, but Bloodborne could absolutely be included. It's not going to push it to 60fps, but there's a possibility it could apply some kind of ML-driven AA and upscaling. There's so much we still don't know. TALK TO US, SONY!

This simply means boost mode can make games go faster and push resolution when DRS is in place. I wish Sony did something as cool as enabling that kind of upscaling on the final image (100% doable, AMD does it) but I have very low expectations.

Well that sucks then, especially when you consider that PS5 already offers enhancement to many PS4 games.

It really does. I honestly can't think of any PS4 game that would benefit from running on a more powerful console without unlocking the framerate/increasing the resolution
