Cyberpunk 2077 currently has no plans for a PS5 Pro Patch

so you think we did not need a pro at all to you all the pro patches are a waste of a devs time.

Are there any games 4+ year old that aren't Sony first party or a GaaS that are now out of production? Looking at the list of games getting a PS5 Pro upgrade, they're almost entirely games released 2023-24. The rest are Sony 1st parties or GaaS types still getting content (Apex Legends, No Mans Sky, etc.).

CyberPunk is a 3rd party cross gen title (never should have been cross gen, but still) and is over a year removed from their official last content update to a game that released in 2020.

Comparing Cyberpunk to the vast majority of this list just seems absurd and intellectually dishonest.

I just don’t think we should expect every studio to do a dedicated Pro patch, especially if said studio might be deep in development or planning for 1 or more projects. It’s not as simple as getting a new GPU and cranking the settings up. They’d probably have to figure out what exactly they’d want to do/add with the new hardware, then play test it to make sure everything works, so you don’t get situations like Jedi Survivor and SH2, then sign off on it…

Ultimately, if we didn’t get every game to have a Pro/One X patch last gen, then I don’t see why we should suddenly expect such this gen.

It's true. All it takes to enable path tracing is an RTX card. Those have been available since 2018.

Note: the poster said "toy with". I certainly played around with PT on my 2080 Ti. Didn't actually use it to play, but it was a cool experiment to see what I could get away with and PT was initially just a tech preview.

Perhaps if the Pro had released a year sooner (3 years in like PS4 Pro). This would've been well before CDPR stated officially that CP2077 development had ended, and it would've coincided with the release of current-gen exclusive Phantom Liberty. If this actually happened and CDPR did release a new fidelity Pro mode with significantly cranked-up RT effects (even at 30fps), even I might've considered splurging on the Pro.

The witcher 3 was never good
I definitely think it's very overrated. The world building is great but the combat is abysmal and that's a big part of the game. But just like the awful technical performance of FROM games is ignored, the awful combat in The Witcher is also for some reason ignored by fans.

Cyberpunk 2077, on the other hand, in it's current form, is great in all regards, be it graphics and performance, world building, story and quest design, or the combat, which is exceptional despite being in first person. I'll live without the Pro patch, but I was hoping for a sale on the PS5 physical Ultimate Edition for Black Friday, but nothing so far and the BF deals have already started in my area.

They have ended development and moved onto newer games. Tough luck.

That’s what happens when you buy into a platform that locks performance behind software. At least on PC it’s designed to scale. The more powerful the hardware you have the better you can run it.

So many people crying and throwing a fit because of no patch. Not worth the $700 anymore is it?

Well I’ll play it on PC then with next gen fidelity
PC is the best place to play it :)

They are working full bore on their other projects and said they were done with 2077 months ago. At some point you have to cut the cord and make a decision that the game is what it is.

You can still buy and play one of the best games on this gen on the PS5 Pro.
Yeah but they never gave us a good version of this game on console that's the problem
No RT reflections and FSR2 makes this game look like a big of a mess in both modes. Whenever it rains it looks pretty awful. There's a lot of ghosting etc.

Given how terrible the console launch was and how much better the PC version is I find it incredibly disappointing that they're "done" with Cyberpunk on console. It's not even like them to have this attitude with their games.

Fuck them

It seems to me that they have already simply switched all their efforts to their next game, and there is no point in transferring people back to the old game to make some kind of patch (and this all requires additional costs and time) for an mid gen update console. If they really want to make an upgrade for this game, I think it will be for PS6, as it was with The Witcher 3 on PS5.

(arguably) the only truly "next-gen" game on the market isn't getting a pro patch lmao

holy fuck this generation is garbage
No Cyberpunk 2077 is the biggest disappointment i have about the Pro....i can't believe it. Sony should've done whatever the fuck they had to to get this game on there in all it's RT glory...yes pay CD Project if you has to. Garbage gen indeed. The Pro releasing the way it has missing big games like this and Wukong, getting SH2 patch that ruined the visuals ...I'm furious at the state of gaming right now. Why the fuck Sony did we buy your $800 console?

Gt7 just got its big Pro patch and it actually kinda sucks as well I just checked it out. The RT during gameplay with pssr looks like garbage - really bad shimmering and iq... and aside from "8k" there are no meaningful improvements to the standard 4k/60 mode that already existed

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
i don’t get why console people can’t live with their decision. Pretty stupid to expect each and every games will have a Pro patch

Which is why comparing the power with PC is dumb. What’s the point of comparing when the upgrade is limited to those who are putting out a Pro patch? Vs PCs where every games limited by your previous weaker GPUs will see better performance in your new powerful GPU

You would think this was a thread on era with how many people are crying about this.

You're not owed a PS5 Pro update.

Also, don't they have 3 projects on-going? Why would thewy waste time and money on a PS5 Pro patch that will probably not net them barely any sales that is worth the time and effort?

I never expected to buy this shitty game anyway, Not a big loss.

Let's hope they go back on track with their next game release.
My biggest concerns about their next game are that they decided to use Unreal 5 instead of their own engine. And frankly Unreal 5 hasn't been a joy for a few years now, and here we have a huge open world RPG + a bunch of problems from Unreal 5...

Ps5 pro is still worth its $700, just like Cyberpunk is worth a patch.

The only reason i haven't bought the dlc yet is so i can play it on better hardware. If their attitude is the same as yours, "just buy a PC", then fuck them, i'll buy something else instead. Like No Man's Sky, a game that was released 8 years ago and yet received its pro update.

If you want to play it on the better hardware... buy a PC...

You buying your games on consoles means you accept the closed hardware.

PC may cost more, but it allows you to scale games based on your hardware.

The game runs great on PS5/XSX, so if you didn't buy it for those consoles, I highly doubt you'd even buy it if there was a PS5 Pro patch.

Stop saying "buy a PC", i don't need it, i don't want it. We're talking about a game that was released on seven consoles at once. It doesn't matter whether it's a closed system or not, it hasn't bothered them so far. I have this game on PS5 and although it doesn't run too bad, i wouldn't despise the DLC on pro.
I'd love to do a second lap on the original aswell.

This is a lazy approach on CDP's part, the patch doesn't require much, a res bump, settings all the way up, nothing major.

They're already skilled at patching this game, considering how crappy it was from the start, one more wouldn't hurt them.

Probably simply not worth going through a complete optimization and QA cycle and reallocationg staff for a few thousand ppl who`d be interested and haven`t played the game anywhere yet.
It´s not nice, but with a game they have officially ended developing for months ago I understand it.

Then that's a problem you will have to deal with.

The developers have moved away from 2077 and are focusing on 3 other projects. They don't owe people a Pro patch that will divert some people from other projects to go and do the changes, apply them, bug test them and send in for certification.

If you want games looking their best, there is a place to play those games and that is a PC and since you're not willing to do that, then you will have to deal with console restrictions. If a developer does not want to go back and patch a 1+ year old DLC, then they have that right as they probably know it's not worth it.

Well, so this will be the last game i buy from them. Simple as that. Hardware restrictions have nothing to do with it, it's not the first generation when we get a mid-gen refresh, it shouldn't be any surprise for them.
Of course, they don't have to do anything, send anyone to make changes, tests, etc., as you wrote. But this only shows their approach to the customer, so i see no reason to reward them for it in the future. 🤷‍♀️

The one game I leave installed for testing hardware. Get less than 45 fps with framegen in RT Overdrive mode. This is the game to test the 5090 with.

It was never going to get even close to path traced PC version anyway.

Maybe they'll release a free "Next-Gen Update" on PS6 along with the native release.

Who asked for Path Tracing lol?

A patch to increase resolution and maybe add RT reflections or RT shadows would be a nice gesture to the fans who have their piece of shit broken launch code a second chance a year later.

They are good at putting out PR statements to pretend they do...

Maybe you missed TONS of stuff they added (and fixed) to the game since launch, for free?

But I know reasonable discussion with you about CP is not possible...

CDPR stopped updating this game many months ago, lack of Pro patch isn't surprising.

RT lighting is the most important feature. If you have to pick one, it's lighting 100% of the time. Reflections is second, and shadows are a distant third. Lighting alone is more impactful than reflections and shadows.

They're probably feeling that UE5 switch pretty hard. If they're not porting those games to UE5, I wouldn't hold my breath for more updates for those titles.

Also, Apple is probably paying for the Mac port and Sony has bad blood with CDPR for the original launch.

Let's not forget that bad blood was caused due to refunds and Sony has a shitty refund policy.

These clowns would mishandle it anyway and release it full of bugs like they did the witcher 3 day 1, and then it will require more patches to make it more stable. These guys can never release anything day 1 without some fuck ups.

Yes but c’mon. Path tracing in an AMD card? Let’s wait till Friday to drink.

Of course even lowering resolution if it let them use RTGI would be my first choice. It’s transformative in 2077.

Maybe they can reach a compromise by learning from Sony and release a $70+ remaster, but with PS5 Pro patch
