Cyberpunk 2077 currently has no plans for a PS5 Pro Patch

Yeah, a dev desperate to make some extra bank using the release of the Pro as a way to do so. Probably the same situation as Remedy with AW2.

Jesus. Wtf is wrong with you? Developers wanting make their games better is a good thing.....always.

Being a good developer is “desperate” now
No, but when your game has sold like shit it's common to take any possible chance to get some extra cash.

Why do you think Remedy has put out such a shitty and rushed patch when, given the game's visuals, it's clear that they have skilled developers? To try and cash on people who just bought the Pro and are looking for "enhanced" games. Same situation as with the Callisto devs, just that they managed to make a much better job with the patch.

CD Project ain't in that situation, they already made enough bank with Cyberpunk, so no they really don't need to make money out of Pro users nor make a patch for it.

For the players? Yes indeed.

But making games is a business, and making the game better might not be a good thing for the devs if the investment doesn't pay up.

I don’t think they are that skilled

The base game runs like trash
Yeah maybe they are not, and the game seems kinda boring too.

Anyway, that doesn't change anything of what I said earlier.

Hope you get more Callistos and less Alans. Don't know what's up with companies having such shitty devs. Maybe nobody wants to be a gamedev anymore and IT people end up prefering other jobs? I know I do.

Hogwarts Legacy did and it was the best selling game on 2023.

If CDPR doesn't want to, that's fine. But they really should in my opinion. It would definitely generate some excitement around it (if done right).

My point is that premier devs like CDPR should be supporting new major platform for players of their games.

They would need to invest into that anyway, and it’s not like a patch costs that much

I’m far less critical if some small studios don’t release a patch…but CDPR? This should be right up their alley

I think it kind of tarnishes their reputation a bit with fans

You release a game, how many years do you need to support/upgrade it? Cyberpunk initially came out in December 2020 for PC and PS4. It looks like it came out on PS5 in February 2022. I am guessing they will wait and see and maybe do the upgrade if they see enough interest or complaints.

I do not think developers need to provide PS5 pro upgrades for free. Sony decided to double dip and make a pro. I do not see why developers should care. Not every game needs to take advantage of the mid generation release.

True, good point. I guess many already released games will get patched. Just not all of them because it wont be worthy for every dev.

I would expect all to be released games to be ready for the Pro ofc. Very bad image for those that don't imo.

For sure, but would it generate money? Do they need to generate excitement now?

Maybe they'll patch the game in the future when their next game is closer to release, to generate some extra buzz and to put themselves on the spot again.

Well, I'm still waiting for Bloodborne to get that Pro patch for the PS4 Pro, and I'd say Japan Studio + From where premier enough to get it done. :goog_relieved:

For me the question still stands: how much is the cost of making one of those patches? If it really was that low I would expect for everyone and their mothers to be releasing patches for the Pro, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Or maybe it's just that Cyberpunk is an spaghetti mess of code that the devs would rather not touch for the rests of their lives, who knows.

I played a lot of hours in CP2077 on PS5 and the performance and graphics didn't bother me one bit. In fact I thought it looked amazing. I dunno maybe I'm just not this level of gamer anymore.
Yeah nothing wrong with enjoying things as they are. I put over a hundred hours into it. So I enjoyed it. But certain areas of the game did look pretty damn ropey due to FSR and stutters too. Which at times took me out of the experience. Anyway, a patch if done well has got to be a good thing.

50k isn’t exactly a high bar globally if it was a standout showpiece launch patch for Pro

If CyberPunk 2077 were to sell 50k, because of the pro, it would be more likely it'd be because of the Pro itself and not because of some patch. There's no basis to say 50k would sell because of a patch. As seen in this thread as evidence of that, most complainers already bought the game.

The witcher 3 was never good
This isn't a hot take. Witcher 2 was much more memoriable for me; it expanded on the sandbox ideas from the original by maxing out interactions and the world felt more reactive as a result. Nothing in the Witcher 3 felt as grand as punching someone in the face and having an entire 15+ hours of the game be completely different.

I haven't bought the game yet but I would with a Pro patch. I was smart and waited for reviews and then Sony yoinked it from the store.

Most likely CD PROJEKT has moved on from Cyberpunk. Their engineers must be knee deep in UE5 since it will be used both for Witcher 4 and the next Cyberpunk.

I have the base game

Many do not have phantom Liberty

That's probably more of reason, PS5 bros ain't returning to Night City without no Pro patch.
Also a high percentage of gamers don't actually return to games despite DLC.
this just shows PC gamers had nothing to move into 😏
Element of truth to this, Witcher 3 is my favourite game of all time but Cyberpunk at launch did not grip me. I only decided to give it another go because I already owned it on Steam. Phantom Liberty and the 2.0 update almost turns it into a different game from what was there at launch. Stellar experience.

I played it on my PC when it came out and thought it looked amazing. I tried the trial on PS5 (performance mode) when it came out and I was really impressed at how good it looked.

So because 2077 isn’t receiving a Pro specific patch, it and The Witcher 3 are suddenly terrible games, and the entire slew of goodwill that CDPR has accumulated from literally redoing Cyberpunk, and releasing the critically acclaimed Phantom Liberty DLC, is now undone? On Gaf at least?

The logic here is astounding, guys, truly. Air tight and sound.

I always complained about them, before and after Witcher 3

They never fixed their incredible shitty Witcher 2 port in Mac, blaming drivers.

Then I currently have no plans to buy it.
The game released in 2020, and the expansion was over a year ago. If you haven't bought it by now, you don't actually want to play it.

This reminds me of the audio adage: "People listen to music. Audiophiles listen to their equipment."

Exactly me. I was waiting for an enhanced pro version that shows off the visuals like PC. Now I don’t know if I’ll ever play this game. Really bizarre decision from the devs.

I put it on the back burner after the broken launch. Currently make huge progress on my backlog. I'd be open to a game like this next year before GTA VI comes out. Their loss if they don't pro patch.

Have you tried to play game actually on ps5 pro atm? It reaches its full dynamic res cap and plays at a smooth 60fps, compares to base ps5. It feels sooo good to be finally able to play this without the blur and framedrops. Thanks game boost!
