I take it that she's not your girlfriend.


Maybe her boyfriend makes her do this stuff, and she does it but then gets pissy about having to do it? I consider myself a pretty serious gamer, and even I would never line up for a videogame (unless it was Half Life... but that's why we have STEAM!)

ok, just clarify some things since alot went on while i was asleep.

I have seen this happen b4 in the fighting game community, and yes, gamers who are girls are cool, but girl gamers are cunts. She played wow for some time so she fits that category. Also i classify girl gamers as cunts who bring up sex as to why they are superior -_-

She is not my gf and has a bf, I also have a gf. I dont find her sexual attractive at all. And yes, she bought the bundle for mf2 for her and her bf.

Why do I keep her around? Ive known ehr for 5 years and she has been nothing but awesome to me and helped me through some really hard times, with the exception of the last 3-4 months or so. FOr the past 3-4 months she has been a super cunt as many of you have pointed out and id assume her bf is sick and itred of her shit so she goes onto me because shes like wtvr youll be my friend forever.

Yeah I get it, between this and the lame ass drama that went on at halloween its pretty much a dumb deal.

She definitely has self esteem/inferiority issues because nowadays all she does is talk shit about people 24/7 about how they are fat or ugly, or how im a fucking loser nerd. but it always comes back to 'but you know i <3 you'

I can take shit talking, clearly ive gotten enough from it on this thread and the amazon one, also just from random friends. But the threshold is broken when its monday-fri and its just lame blatant shit. not even clever shit talking, just shit talking for the sake of shit talking.

Where are all these female gamers? I work in the games section at Best Buy and I only ever see a small portion of females a day, and even then most of them are buying games for/with their boyfriends - rarely are they purchasing for themselves. Maybe female gamers go to a special female-gamer store to buy games, so they don't get harassed by male gamers who are weird and creepy (and harass me instead =/).

Well actually, when I think hard about it there are a few female gamers in particular that come to my store to buy games, for some reason I have to think hard to remember them - in fact last night (this morning?) at the COD4-2 (COD6?) midnight launch there was one who randomly started talking to me, and she was all "Don't you recognize me?" "Er, I think, but I don't know from where." "I'm always coming into the store and running around your department and talking to you! Are there really so many girls you deal with in gaming that you can't remember little ole me?" - she was joking around but I think she was a bit hurt!

Maybe the problem is guys in reality ignore female gamers, and that makes them bitter. I'll make an effort to be nice to her next time I see her, to prevent her from turning into an ass in the future.
 
OK the Facebook thing is an asshole move. You should confront her about why she's being such a bitch. Maybe she's going through some serious shit and her acting out is a way to ask for help. She's been there for you in the past, it's only right that you be there for her. Something must have happened for a cool person to turn into a complete dick like that.

Actually, I prefer it when guys ignore the fact that I'm a woman and that I like playing games. It makes me uncomfortable when guys go "omg, do you really play games? YOU ARE SO COOOL!!!! Or when I play games online and people ask me "are you really a gurl?!?!?!?"

I just wish I hadn't put girl in my PSN ID, I didn't want to but everything I thought of was taken. At the last moment, after 50 or so tries, I put girl at the end of my ID and it accepted it. Should have gone with Gril. :lol

Women who identify themselves as gamers are just and annoying and lame as guys who do.

I have no problems with women who play video games, I just have problems with people who go to great lengths to pigeon hole themselves into some weird archetype.

But yeah, I get what you are saying - I don't think that's how all females feel though. Looking at one of the sites linked in this thread, then facebook hopping - it seems some girls are overly proud of their gaming ability - especially if they are to be considered above average looking, as though the two things clash. And it's not just that they are proud, but can sometimes be a bit obnoxious about it. I don't know what the deal was with my female gamer, maybe it just sucks in general to not be remembered.

I'm not a huge fan of facebook and don't use it much. Maybe once or twice in 2+ months, but whenever I do login, my friends and I talk about games we're currently playing and most of my updates end up being about games. It's not like I'm proud of being a gamer or talk about gaming constantly or act as if I'm superior. I have a friend who is a painter and she loves talking about paintings or art in general. Similarly, gaming is my hobby, and I like talking about it sometimes.

An example of obnoxious would be repeatedly mentioning that they are female and that they play games, like "You know, as a girl, people think I can't play fighting games, but whenever I play guys I always win! Girl power!" - which is fine, unless it takes up 30-40% of your conversation.

Your Facebook etiquette is what I would call being 'normal', generally talking about your hobby isn't obnoxious at all. Still I want to make it clear that I am trying hard not to generalize, maybe the obnoxious ones are in the vast vast minority.

I actually don't really know how girls flirt, so that is entirely a possibility I guess. Poor her if it's true.

You can either accept it or be in denial. I hope the next generation will be less retarded and gaming will be generally regarded as a viable time killer by our society. This way, spineless people won't be afraid to express their interest for this awesome hobby and the industry will grow up to new height.

I applaud Nintendo for their effort in achieving that. I have no love for the Wii, but it does wonder changing people's opinion on gaming.

I guess her breaking point of this job was sometime this summer because since then she has been unbarable. and I have called her out on it and talked to her about it, but shes always has the attitude im too good for these people and im better than them. (shes an entry level assistant at a law firm) i tell her this is the way the wolrd works, you start off at the bottom and get treated like shit, but you have to get along with everyone. if you truly cant put yourself in a position to say otherwise. she takes my opinion with a grain of salt. but hey weve all been there, i started off cleaning floors in at a sushi palce and became a sushi chef in 6 months time, but apparently my experience nor anyone elses matters in the broad scheme of things.

Gaf is right, ive been trying to help her but it has not been met with much gratitude, just bullshit. so theres not point in keeping her around. Also the other thing is she constantly talks shit about how my gf isnt pretty or anything. blah blah blah complex issues continued. yeah im venting.

One of them actually seems kind of disappointed that she doesn't get more shit when she starts talking through her mic. Whether this is because they mistake her for a pre-pubescent boy or they just dont care, I don't know. She finally learned that it was the latter, no one really gives a frak, unless they are being dicks.

These girls consider themselves pretty geeky, I've never had them call me a nerd for being a "guy gamer."

TBH yeah I have tolerated this shit from my best friend who ive known for like 9-10 years? I just tend to try to find the good in people. this has happened witht he girl in the OP and this other friend whos a guy. Although I put him with his shit for like...4 years of him being in a similar situation of self loathing, i finally stopped dealing with him.

And yes i realize im makin up excuses for people which does not take away their faults. This is also something i tend to do...*sigh*

I wish that was the case when I played BF2. As a squad leader, I remember several times I had to kick people out of my squad because they were harassing a girl I used to play with over the mic.
