The spin...bubububut...what about them console sales?![]()
MS don't care about console sales but never shares the numbers and is waiting on PS5's price announcement.
Can't make this shit up!

Wrong estimation.Xbox One (released in 2013): 46.9 million (estimated)
Look. It's not hard to understandThe spin...

No I wasn't asking what exclusive games MS released or which ones were on gamepass.
I was asking which MS first party games have been decent quality in the last 3-5 years.
crackdown was hyped for example and after release passed off as 'perfect for game pass'
its a danger for the whole industryThis. It's dangerous to condition your customer to no longer buy games IMO
Exactly!its a danger for the whole industry
no,and not matter how much the gamepass cult spins it,its not really thatIf you buy gamepass you are buying games.
If you buy gamepass you are buying games.
I think Phil has come to terms that they are not going to take Sony head-to-head in console sales. The next best thing (and may even be better in the long run) is to expand the customer base beyond consoles. I am just glad to see them taking the PC market serious again.RIP Xbox Series X sales.
My first instinct is you're right. But I wonder what percentage of people buy more than a couple games a year (excluding roster updates, I mean sports games). Something tells me its high. If true, then gamepass might be the best thing MS can do. They would make more in rental fees every year than sales for those people.This. Wrong estimation.
XB1 will finish this gen close to 60M.

The fear is borne out of the correct assessment that this is an industry run by gold chasing execs.
I don’t want most games to be either GaaS or indies. I don’t want to play the same two or three games for years on end sprinkles by small time efforts in between.
But they can coexist, and I believe the right model is a subscription service for indies and older games, while big games keep getting the red carpet.
Was about to ask the same thing myself. There is no question in my mind that whenever someone, anyone, brings up games pass in games media or forums its an astroturfed, paid for ad by Microsoft. The obsession and nonstop shilling for this service is so nakedly obvious. PS NOW has more games, better first party games, and is cheaper and yet there is barely a peep about it, its obvious whose being fed PR lines.
Those were always coming (GaaS) before we even heard of Game Pass. The biggest one in a while Marvel's Avengers isn't on Game Pass and MMO's have been around for decades. MS has and will continue to add studios that will make smaller games like Psychonauts and Grounded and big ones like Hellblade and Forza. You guys are bringing up indy type games and GaaS like they are the result of Game Pass when they have been around forever lol
its a danger for the whole industry
I’m not saying GaaS is a byproduct of GamePass. But Halo and Forza are going the GaaS way. Sea of thieves already is. Rumor is that Fable will be, and who knows about avowed. I believe from now on almost every single big game from MS will be GaaS and I do think Gamepass does affect that on MS’s end.
Maybe Sony should push it harder. It's pretty crazy that it barely has under 2% of the userbase on Now while Xbox has 20+% of theirs on GP. Hmmm, maybe it's the newer game thing. This will only improve in the coming generation. It has already been improving but this Holiday going into next year will see it explode. I suspect Sony will change Now and I can't wait for the Sony boys to change their time when it happens.
If you believe hard enough that it won't, it won't sell close to 60m in your heart. If you believe hard enough it will sell close to 60m in your heart.

I gave you a tweet by a reliable person that Xbox One was over 50M at the beginning of March 2020. To finish 'close to 60M', it needs to sell at least another 8M until being discontinued.![]()
MS hides the number because they want us to believe it sold less than what is actually sold?
Insider, reliable. Chose one.I gave you a tweet by a reliable person that Xbox One was over 50M at the beginning of March 2020. To finish 'close to 60M', it needs to sell at least another 8M until being discontinued.
From Microsoft's Q4 earnings report we know that Xbox hardware was up 64% YOY from April to June. Under these conditions It doesn't require a lot of believing that 8M are doable with one holiday left and maybe another 6 months afterwards.
If you want to believe otherwise, be my guest. As I said, if you believe hard enough, it won't sell these additional 8M units.

Maybe its not as profitable as MS would have you think hence sony nor nintendo following the same strategy?
I may be misunderstanding this last sentence but, have they said buying a Series X gets you Game Pass for free? I figure a month trial would be included or something.[This YT'er guy gets down to the point, summarise the games you can play for an insane $15/month.
If you buy Series X, you get Gamepass, you are set for the economic meltdown.
Many people, myself included, actually really enjoyed crackdown 3. The multiplayer with cloud destruction was amazing. Sorry it wasn’t cinematic enough for you.Quality like crackdown 3 first party?
What else are they going to talk about? They had their fans repeating "scalability" and "pro-consumer" for months, but appear to have replaced the marching orders with "the value of game pass" instead
I mean, there's nothing wrong with game pass, but damn. I bet in a month you could do a search on the forum for the keyword "value" and see nothing but Xbox threads and the same people talking about game pass over and over again.
They already are #1. The upcoming battle is ecosystem vs. ecosystem, not hardware unit sales vs. hardware unit sales. MS are heading into next-gen with a headstart. I hope that Sony doesn't notice. Sony fans certainly don't, as this forum proves.
I was only arguing that it may be better for MS than traditional sales to casuals, but there's definitely an argument for it benefiting consumers as well. As with most things there are pros and cons, and I'm happy for everyone who gets it and loves it.$60 per game is very expensive even though i can afford them as an old gamer. What do you do when you completed them?
I rather wait for steam sales.
Imo rental or Gamepass is the way forward for most of us oldies, you can simply unsubscibe if you are in a busy period.
At the same time, developers on Gp get paid too.
Phil mentioned about the covid recession, i can see why they are doubling down on Gp.

What games? With MS biggest games being F2P now I think that gamepass just got worse.
Halo Infinite their biggest game and likelly others as well if they are willing to do it with Halo. What games?
"likely"Halo Infinite their biggest game and likelly others as well if they are willing to do it with Halo.
You get what you pay for.
So I have to pay $15 a month for game pass...

You’re right 5000 people bought the game in the first 2 weeks in the UK . Lots had fun. Many people, myself included, actually really enjoyed crackdown 3. The multiplayer with cloud destruction was amazing. Sorry it wasn’t cinematic enough for you.
Step 4) Pro......fit?!?!Step 1) Buy an X and gamepass
Step 2) ?????
Step 3) enjoy games
Step 4) tiforpStep 4) Pro......fit?!?!![]()
Love the "concern trolling" card all gamepass "embassators" use, sure sonAnd so are Steam sales and Humble bundles, Spotify, Disney plus, Amazon Prime, and Netflix for their respective industries. Concern trolling and all that.

Reported for stupidity.Yeah, Sony is crying after 113M console sold in 7 years. I'm sure they expect a disaster for PS5 because of GamePass.
The Xbox brand is dead outside US, nobody cares. Nothing can change that
sal of it is as well(see above).
you mean for just being real? this gen its gona be rough for some of you,but a this point you are doing this to yourselvesReported for stupidity.
