Of course diversity is here to stay as it should be, but I just hope that we can move on and have different games for different audiences instead of forcing everything in the same game.

Sure manufacturers want to have a big audience, but trying to satisfy many target groups can also lead to lower sales.
Game companies all look at juicy PPT slides showing games like COD, FIFA, Fortnite, Minecraft etc.... can be mainstream money makers shotgunning a game to the masses with mtx.

So they look at themselves..... So why cant their game do the same? The mission statement is: Make a game as successful as COD or Fortnite.

the truth is, actual 'diversity' itself has been here for a while now. we'd just never had degreed 'specialists', highly trained/skilled in the art of precisely quantifying it, up till recently...

If this is the trajectory Insomniac is in I'll skip Wolverine and any game they create. If I know SBI is involved I will skip as well.

Lots of games to play, can skip the dross.

Ok, but who is doing that? Like, have we ever even seen a company flat out say they will ONLY hire based on that and ignore all other skills or something?

Saw a vid on Youtube of a chap working at Disney for years, who was outright told some roles will not be given to a white man ever (if the same peeps remain in power).

This was a political game. Western societies are naturally diverse because we’re just more tolerant and welcoming than the rest of the world. Because diversity was a natural step to our societies, the global left decided to hijack and institutionalise the concept as a political card. As if there was no diversity until they conceptualised DEI and BLM, forgetting decades of activism and tolerance that we’ve seen through our lives.

It’s all fake and cynical. Thing is, people aren’t stupid.

Bro, all other countries, especially for women, are much worse of, worse economy/inflation, much fewer rich(or relatively rich, from whole world pov)men who are trained to accept modern(so kinda useless for anything else but sex) women, tons of women priviledges(yups, not rights, priviledges), and very few actual marriage-able women aka super low competition.
TLDR for women it doesnt get better than living in the US.

It’s like they had a checklist of identities they wanted to represent and designed their roster around it. And they clearly went out of their way to make sure nobody looks too attractive or shows too much skin.

It’s idiotic. When I go to see a movie, especially a super hero move, I want to see a bunch of ridiculously fit and attractive heroes kicking some ass. Not a bunch of average, relatable, 5/10 self insert characters.

The hilarious part is that a lot of americans think in Europe you have the land of prosperity and tolerance but when they arrive - "speak French motherf*cker or else" :messenger_tears_of_joy: And then everybody is hating each other.

It won't change because the overall political and cultural discourse on the west is going down the drain. It is not the big event anymore. Like if somebody shots Biden, then the reaction from some folks would be "now they will nominate Harris finally". Worldwide we see the trends over more primitive, simplified political talks. We literally one step away from "f*ck you" to leaders of other countries. It is worldwide phenomenon, partially led by the fact that the education and literacy is falling down.

Lol! If the demographics of Microsoft employees are accurate then it's 66% male and 33% female with white men constituting 56% of those men.

Assuming interest applied in a given state,I feel like the employee should represent their population numbers in these mega cooperations. No one should complain about be a "token hire" if their population is being underrepresented. SMH! 🙄 🙄

I love the notion that "the sky is falling" because DEI teams are beginning to get dismantled. The sky would only be falling if you assume minorities can only get jobs because of tokenism, and not on their own merits -- which ironically is one of the most racist things I've ever heard.

Also,I feel like people miss the fact you can't have one particular ethnic being overrepresented in any field unless they are the only people in the country. Ideally, each group should have their population size numbers represent ownership or influence with regards to land, businesses or whatever in a given country. And depending on the circumstance, overrepresentation can't occur without some form of discrimination.

I've seen this from Zippia, their numbers aligned with Microsoft's but I don't know how up-to-date their numbers are because the Microsoft numbers are about 2 years old from a blog post.

HR has surely already told the gov the company's employee pool is diverse and getting more and more diverse each year. It ensures a corporation can qualify for juicy gov deals.

If the US is like Canada, large federal contracts can mandate DEI kind of metrics or else the company cant qualify to bid on a project or vendor supplier agreement.


There was a link I bookmarked but it's now dead about Canada Supplier Diversity Plan.

Tagging onto that secret service mishap was some politician dude on TV who said the other day something like (paraphrased)..... "well, if I need to get surgery, I want qualified surgeons in the hospital who can do it, not a quota hire. So why doesnt that apply here?"

It is an amazing thing. Because you'll notice DEI kinds of initiatives are pretty much skewed to white collar high paid desk jobs. You dont get too many DEI pow-wows regarding dirty jobs, blue collar jobs, or dangerous jobs.

And for something mainstream like sports where teams try to build a roster best they can based on talent available and budget, it's ultra rare you see any DEI roster rules. So if sports teams can cherry pick who they want to win, why cant companies?

What? Black people make up around 13% of the US population but represent around 70% of all NBA players. It's not discrimination, people are just different and have different interests and values which will lead them to different outcomes. People who focus so much on representation treat people like they're robots who all think and act the same and therefore should all have similar outcomes based on population size. That isn't how the real world works.

Martin Luther King wanted people to be Judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. People have forgotten that. To award somebody based on what race they are or what gender they are is just insanity that needs to stop.

If you had a heart attack and get to choose the Doctor working on you. Do you want the most "diverse" doctor or do you want the person who regardless of race or gender is the most qualified?

I think you meant to say underrepresented.

But business is business. If someone (or company) has the money, a team will sell.

I just took a skim of English Premier League owners. Most are US based and even has Mid East and Chinese owners. There probably isnt one Chinese player in the league.
