Broken butterfly worth it? Just got to the merchant and see it has a discount

Should I pump upgrades into it or are there better magnums?
With the exclusive 1.5x upgrade, yeah the BB is worth it as a boss killer at over 40 power per shot. I'd only bother upgrading the power though and then use an exclusive upgrade ticket on it.

Lmao the boat is janky as shit wtf 😂
OMG. Completely forgot about this. It's just awful! Like, why is it so fast, so arcady and completely unrealistic? Do you really need that much speed for one and small effin lake and cave systems in the game? WTF, Capcom? Camera (while you're on the boat) is also very bad and licking Putin's anus.

I'm pretty sure there's no mod yet to fix all this.

I really hope the people talking about difficulty balance are playing in Hardcore or Professional because if you're on Standard and finding it too difficult, you should probably keep that info to yourself.
No problem with balance in my opinion. I’m playing on standard and died 3 times all in the same area outside the church after you find Ashley. I don’t care either, it’s a decent enough challenge for me and if I’m dying constantly then I’ll likely drop it as I just don’t have the time for that.

Just finished up my second run on hardcore (dang they can get pretty bullet spongey on hardcore Im glad I started on standard), GOAT-tier game yet again. The awesome thing too is that the old game still holds up really well, I don't think 4R replaces it, it compliments it. I can see myself playing both for years to come.

Finished.

Very good remake of a legendary game. I still prefer the original (and would recommend that for a first time playthrough), but for me it's an excellent way to revisit a game I know by heart.

The one thing I didn't like is kick, knife and dodge being all different buttons. It felt bloated and I often pressed the wrong one at the wrong moment (I'm on KB, maybe it's easier on a pad?).

With that said, as a whole it was fun and handily the best of the remake series. Tho, the original game is better.

Credits rolled on my first playthrough. B rank, 18 hours. At the risk of sounding hyperbolic I think this is hands down the best game I've played this generation. I could not put it down.

From start to finish they never let things get stale, you're always thrown into new crazy scenarios or coming up against different enemies or variants. Perfectly paced chapters and story beats with enjoyable smart exploration where I felt like the designers new exactly where crafty players would look for items or treasure, I love that stuff. I could feel the skilled hand of an experienced and passionate team of designers all the way through, they know how Resident Evil fans play their games and they make sure you feel rewarded for wanting to explore their world.

Really deep combat system that opens up as the game goes on, very dynamic and fun to play around with.

Also I really appreciated never feeling low on ammo, it let me play the way I wanted without ever forcing a lack of resources on me to dictate the difficulty of the experience.

Once I got the Red9 I didn't really look back, took that thing all the way to the end and full upgraded it with the stock. Basically relied on the Red9, the Magnum and the unscoped Rifle the entire game.

Expertly made by a really smart team. Bravo Capcom.

Was thinking of playing Professional mode to try to get the A ranking but don't see how that is possible, took me 40 hours to beat my first playthrough on hardcore. To those who have completed Professional on A rank, how bad is it? Assuming you just run through the whole thing as fast as possible and skipping all the side quests?

Get a rocket launcher and have fun. But since you likely dont have enough money do the following:

You can skip a lot of encounters. Shoot the bell in the first village encounter, shoot the locks in the second level and anywhere in the castle where you had to shoot down levers.

Use bolt mines on Mendez before you even start the encounter. Keep two golden eggs for Salazaar. Use heavy grenades on the turret during the mike section. Kill verdugo by buying the rocket launcher in one hit. Shoot the spinning flame thingy in the clocktower. save magnum ammo for krauser's final form. use flashbangs on any boss or mini boss with tentacles. make sure to save enough money to buy another rocket launcher for the final boss.

I played on normal, and decided to do a hardcore run exploring everything. i now have 500k with another 900k in weapons and items i can sell for stuff i dont use. With just another 100k, i should be able to afford the infinite rocket launcher thanks to the 20% off charm. I will use that on my professional run.

Was going to hold out for the XB version to be fixed but seent it on CDK for $45 on PC and bought it. Looking forward to this.

That cleverly strung together opening track. 😅

"All of what you're seeing is... CUT!" ✂️

I don't know about other people but the cuts in this game didn't feel as noticeable as RE2R and RE3R's. I'd bet a lot of it has to do with them at least giving us a huge game with this and a lot of moments got replaced with new moments.

Also one of the cuts mentioned in the video weren't cut at all.

One issue I do have in the Remake is there's some cutscenes that somehow feel like a downgrade from the original. Which feels weird since Capcom should be at the top of their game now. Particularly Ada's first appearance, El Gigante's appearance and the Del Lago cutscenes.

So much complaining. Makes me feel at home.

Anyways. Seems I've been missing some treasures. Most are locked behind keys. I'm currently near the castle. Any chance I can still get those later on? Just curious.

Edit: it's been a good minute playing Resi4 OG; when does the riot gun becomes available?

You should have all the keys before you enter the castle so you can go back and get all of the treasure. I think the Castle is the same way, but there are moments of no return and I think the Merchant tells you "Make sure you clear up any unfinished business hehehe".

Riot Gun you get in the castle IIRC.

Riot gun is up for purchase starting in chapter 6. After the cabin fight, I remember having it for the chainsaw twins.

I really need to know. In the first room where you play as Ashley in the library, the room where you get the lantern....there are two treasures on the map but I have no idea how to get to them. Anybody knows what I am talking about?

You can revisit that area as Leon. Things that Ashley can't break or open, Leon can.

You know the room I am talking about? There doesn't appear to be anything breakable in that room and the rest of the path is an Armadura maze with a crank to lower a staircase. So I can't get those treasures as Ashley? I figured Leon could be used there because the stairs lead to a treasure that needs the cube.

On that note I am super happy that Armaduras are now much more present. In the original you only fought like what, 4 of them in one room once haha.

The map might be showing you something on the upper floor. There are 2 pieces of treasure in the room directly above the starting room (you visit that part playing as Ashley, and can also as Leon later)

They are right there in the library. You will need to crouch to get there and you will need a key as well.

Thanks. I'll have to check. They appear to be in a corridor behind the bookcases in the first room but I see no connections to that part on the map. I think they also show up as being on the same floor somehow haha.

If they're talking about the first room where you pick the lantern in the first place, i think its below the room where there's a couple of treasure.

But, yeah, if you're in the greater library area, there's at least one you can crouch to get and another that requires Leon later.

I'll check when I'm in front of the console later, also a bit turned around here lol.

Guess I have to head back to the Armaduras haha. Hopefully they aren't still blocking the way to the library. BTW my phat PS4 runs the game in 8K at 120 FPS, and the textures are ultra sharp! ............ .

I'm currently at Chapter 10 and very short on supplies and I love it, in last chapter I kind of gone overboard and little too trigger happy.

managed to get half of the trophies on my first run on Standard mode. Was thinking this would be an EZ plat until I saw the trophy list. 6 runs including highest difficulty S rank, a run where you use 0 heal items or the shop, a run where you only use knifes and pistol... jesus christ.

Yea the completionist challenges for this are like RE3R’s but on steroids.

It worked better for RE3 Remake because that game was short and had specific things in mind that were built to enhance it’s speed running. This game has a few, but some of the skips are just plain old exploits.

Also, professional S+ is a hair pulling experience because you soon realize that there’s way more RNG in the combat encounters at higher difficulties (especially with Ashley) due to everyone being a massive bullet sponge.

And the one item that would help the most with this, is the one item that you can only acquire by getting a Professional S+ ranking.

Near the end now, game is amazing but why tf can I not use the laser sight on any gun in Resident Evil 4 Remake. It is one of the most iconic things about the OG and there are a bunch of other nonsense unlockables anyway.
It's ridiculous, it's like they have no clue what made the original's shooting so snappy.

I'll never understand why they think bloom crosshairs are an upgrade.

You only need professional A rank IIRC. Not that this makes things much better though... I plan on getting all the standard trophies + Hardcore + Professional at some point. Prolly won't bother with the specific runs + the ranks.

Playing it on normal, currently but I don‘t remember this game being so hard. And it‘s not because I‘m 20 years older, I died in Chapter 1 3 times already, never died in the original RE4 in this segment. Am I the only one who struggles a little with the game? Constantly on low ammo, health, etc.

Me too, I started on hardcore because was the recommended for those who played the original but I regret it now, I die continuously

Just did something I thought was pretty cool...I took out all of the enemies in the two garrador room, without the garradors ripping their chains off. I just ran around the room using only the bolt thrower and knife lol. I thought it endlessly spawned enemies, but that’s actually not the case.

I also skipped a good chunk of the Ashley section. If you know what time to input in the clock, the game is cool with it and lets you skip the whole library section. I always liked that about RE games. Capcom almost encourages you to cheese their games. You wanna one shot a boss with an RPG? That’s fine, as long as you have the cash. Wanna skip entire sections? Fair game if you’re smart enough to find shortcuts (or looked at a guide). Good game design IMO. Makes for great replayablity too.

Does this even still have the automatic difficulty adjustment back in OG RE4?

Every single enemy drops something now.

Also got my credit roll after 20 hours. I still think I prefer the OG but I’m gonna go and replay it a bunch with different difficulties to see how it holds up. Finished on standard btw.

Thing is, Ive seen different times on those notes

Anyone found the Rhinoceros Beetle?
Yes 1 so far. Supposedly there are 3 in the game. It definitely makes your overall health bar go up at least a yellow herb equivalent, and I have seen online posts claiming they make your critical hit % go up and or increase knife damage.

They are really hard to find as they don't really show up until your right infront of them.

Second best game of the generation. Bravo to the dev team.

Second to Elden Ring I reckon?

Man, this game is something else alright ..

Edit: I'm so close to buying the Red9 for it's power when dealing with the parasite heads. Think I'll wait for when I have some more money so I can upgrade it as well. Kind of need my money for a larger briefcase for one.

Edit 2: Maybe it's because I don't play that many new releases but god damn if this game isn't beautiful. Colour me impressed!

Its Beautiful Reaction GIF

Finished my second run on hardcore. Glitched through the laser section and almost didnt have enough money to buy the infinite rocket launcher for the final boss. Thankfully after selling all of the weapons and ammo i wasnt using and buying gems from spindles, i had just enough to buy the 1.6 million RPG. Killed the final boss in two hits and am already up to the kraken boss fight at the lake in just 27 minutes on Professional. Love how many sections you can straight up skip in this game. Shocking that the kraken cant be skipped.

I loved sitting down and finishing RE3 in one sitting. Cant do that with this game but i wouldnt be surprised if i can beat this game in under 3 hours since it lets me skip so many sections with the RPG.

Seeing random, massive yellow paint smears all over the Uber-Gothic castle is so goofy. Come on guys, I can see the giant fucking metal cage thingie filled with rocks weighing the bridge down. I still don't get why they couldn't just make things you can interact with slightly more vibrant in color rather than splash goofy yellow paint over everything. Like why not just make those cages slightly more shiny in a "hey it's made of steel!" way...or make the barrels and wood a more reddish brown or something.

It's not a big deal of course but it really started sticking out to me in the castle where it clashes massively with the art design.

I've done 3 runs so far. My first run, hardcore, almost 24 hours played (and very thorough, S ranked all the shooting galleries grabbed every treasure except 1 in the damn village). Ended with a B rating. My 2nd run took under 10 hours, standard difficulty, grabbed every treasure (missed the same village treasure in lock box), and unlocked infinite rocket launcher towards the end.

Now my 3rd run, I started on professional and I intended to beat the game sub 3 hours and I did (infinite launcher) with rating S. I did no exploits or anything like that. Ashley and for some reason the lake monster, were my biggest issues. Ashley would either get in front of my rockets or get carried away while I had no flash nades or clear line of sight.

That being said, now I have the chicago typewriter and Ashley armor (invincible) for any playthrough including new game. Ashley armor will be so useful if going for S+ now.
