RoboCop Rogue City is worth the sale price this weekend | $8.99 on PSN, $8.49 on Fanatical (Steam Key)

Hey all,

First time making a topic here. If you haven't gotten a chance to play it, RoboCop: Rogue City is currently on sale on PSN for the weekend for only $9.

I'd yet to play it, so I went ahead and picked it up. It doesn't run the best(I don't have a Pro, so maybe better there?) but it's a damned good game, especially at that price point.

I'd heard it was really good, but I'm amazed at how much love Nacon poured into the game and I'm excited to see what they pursue next.

It's got the humor, the brutality, a nice little EXP system to level up Robo and Peter Weller back in the role once more.

Yes, he moves slow but it feels like it fits, especially just taking small-arms fire as if it is nothing.

It also seems to delve more into the "Is he Murphy or just a machine" aspect in the story, something the sequel films kind of abandoned.

Definitely worth a purchase if you're a fan of the series in any way and/or want a good old-fashioned FPS.

Bought it on day1 and no regrets, captures the atmosphere of the movies perfectly. Great visuals with Robocop's unique UI and exploring the precinct and the open map of one of the districts was fun.

My only complaint is that it ran poorly on PS5 in some levels (especially the prison level), but it was one of the first big UE5 games so that's rather understandable. Maybe that's been improved in later patches, can't say.

solid 7/10 game, its basically a rail shooter with enemies just jumping out of cover at you over and oiver till theyre dead then you move on.

think i paid £12 and well worth that, not worth full price at all tho.

What? Rail shooter? Man we must have played different games. The game had a lot ot sidequest, exploration and conversations. Reducing it to just a rail shooter is insulting to the game and to players who haven't played it

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Did they ever fix the stuttering issues on PC? I really need to make a decisions between PS5 Pro and PC for this thing and finally just play it.

It was ok, but after an hour you saw pretty much everything there was to see. Gunplay, while satisfying, was too simple for a 12+ hour game. The optional quests/investigations were also very repetitive and not worth doing after the first few. The intro mission where you blow people up with your gun and the classic music kicks in was amazing and gave me goosebumps, but after that the game kinda fizzles out.

I've had it in my wishlist since it was praised by Gmanlives and others. Ridiculously cheap, bought it instantly.

Played the first mission just now. I was a little annoyed by the slow movement speed, but it's clearly a loveletter to the original film and I can't imagine doing it any other way tbh. Gonna play some more, can't really tell yet if it's gonna be a lingering slight annoyance all the way through or if it's something I'll get used to. If every following mission also have you looking for optional crime evidence I'll probably just skip those objectives because it became kinda tedious walking back and forth checking for stuff.

Edit: Gotta say, the story and writing in this game is pretty damn compelling. Just finished the mission where
Murphys female colleague gets killed by what I assume is the main villain
.
Might have to rewatch the film because it seems closely tied to those events and I haven't seen it in many years

Love this game. Would literally pay for a patch that allows us to just play the action parts on a second playthrough. Nothing ended my session faster than getting back to the police station for 60 minutes of lumbering around listen to bad voice over. The action bits are so good! It just needs an arcade or time attack mode as an update.

Overall, this needs to be the blueprint for how to make a nostalgia cash in. It really activates all my 1980s Robocop neurons. The sounds, the looks, the whole thing. Perfect in that regard. Hope we can get an Aliens game this good one day.

It gets kinda repetitive near the end and the mission design is primitive at places. Still. Rogue City has a great heart (the most authentic Verhoeven experience since 1) and Teyon use UE5 to game's advantage in a clever way. I highly recommend it even for a full price.

Speaking of this dev, does anyone like their Terminator game? I kept hearing it was a cult AA classic, my fav genre, but to me it kinda matches the bad reviews. How long do you have to play until you’re not just shooting bullet sponge spider robots and walking around colorless rubble?

Does it get better? I bought it after loving Robocop.

Fun game but I thought the plot and dialogue was donkeyballs and the voice acting (outside Weller) was very inconsistent (what the hell was that OCP ‘The Old Man’ impression all about). It is also slavishly faithful; a game cobbled together out of nods to the first two films, but still a nice bit of nostalgia.

Story in Terminator is surprisingly good for a T2 sequel, but everything else is just meh. Teyon bitten more than it can chew. Art is fine, but the game is on a budget through and through, the latter half is unbearable slog at places, there is heavy reuse of assets and levels, plus late game guns and enemies are not fun at all.

It’s a great game. Bought it a while back and had a blast.

And if you are a fan of the two Robocop movies that were made, what are you waiting for!? 😁

I played this on Steam last summer. Fantastic experience especially if you're a fan of the first movie. I'd bite on this at $9 but I want a physical PS5 copy. They seem to trend in the $30-40 range and my double-dip buy-in is around $20.

I first played the game a couple years ago and was kinda 'eh' going through the first level. But I gave it a 2nd shot last summer and stuck with it. Once you get to the main bunker hub section and take on missions it ramps up alot. You very much end up feeling immersed in the apocalyptic world depicted in T1/2, crawling with T-800 endo-skeletons and all the sights and sounds immediately recognizable from those films. I'd say it's a solid 7.5/10.

Ditto for the Robocop game, I may double dip a physical copy if I can find it at $20. These feel like the kind of licensed games to be worth having around in physical form down the road. Honestly these two games (and A Plaque Tale) have been among my favorite single player experiences the last few years. The Robocop game is probably better overall, but I enjoyed Terminator more because I'm way more into the lore of that franchise ( the first two movies at least).

Bought it for a tenner the other day and could only muster about 6 hours before I gave up (and it's rare I do that these days). The combat is really dull and the rest of it is just janky filler. The NPC's all have this mannequin look to them and the animation isn't much better either. A lot of the quests felt like busywork and none of it was particularly engaging.

Really wanted to like it as I thought the demo back in the day was kind of promising, unfortunately though it quickly outstays its welcome. According to the main mission count I wasn't even halfway done and that's with skipping all of the cutscenes and dialogue. No thanks!

Nah it's equally dull. I actually finished it but was very much wanting it to be over long before that. At least it didn't have you do all sorts of NPC fetch quest nonsense though.

I got it this time. I use to rent Robocop on VHS a lot as a kid. Robocop 3 was PG13, so I could convince my parents to get it every single time. Even though 1 and 2 are superior films. I was never impressed by Robocop vs Terminator on SNES, so I always stuck to the films. I’m looking forward to playing this.

It's the type of game we need more of. Fun, doesn't overstay its welcome, uses its source material very faithfully. It reminds me of when I was younger and used to buy 3-4 games new for like 8-10 euros each. Some great experiences I had from those. Singularity probably being the best I can remember

Only seen Robocop a couple of times so I'm not particularly invested in the IP, but I quite like the look of this. Been playing a lot of souls-likes recently and an FPS game would be a nice change. Tempted.
