Pros & Cons

  • Cool and quiet Founder's Edition design
  • Over 20% faster than an RTX 4070
  • DLSS 4 can multiply your frame rate
  • Good pricing (at MSRP)
  • Fantastic overclocking potential
  • Extremely energy-efficient
  • Idle fan-stop
  • Compact dual slot design
  • Support for HDMI 2.1 & DisplayPort 2.1
  • PCI-Express 5.0
  • Good video encode/decode hardware acceleration support

Cons:
  • Actual market pricing will be much higher than MSRP
  • Gen-over-gen improvement not that impressive (except for multi-frame generation)
  • Fans could be quieter
  • 12 GB VRAM not enough for 4K + RT + Frame Gen in some titles
  • Limited supply expected
  • Memory overclocking artificially limited by the driver
  • 35% worse than the 4090

"Nvidia is selling lies and reviewers shouldn't be afraid to mince words, about it. That is precisely, what the RTX 5070 is."

I wouldn't call 20% performance over previous gen a pro to be honest. You also need to disregard the 4070 Super for this to work out and that card was available last year for less than the 5070.

Sad Gordon Ramsay GIF by Hell's Kitchen

its not that bad hardware-wise compared to the 4070. These cards will end up being sold at 4090 msrp in real life, but wheres my 4090 performance fancy leather jacket man?

It's basically a 4070 Super with a $50 price drop, slightly enhanced media engine, and MFG. Anyone in this price range should probably just get the 9070/9070 XT.

lmao, Lackwell is a complete fiasco. Jesus Christ.

Same performance as an RTX 4070. We're at the point where x70 cards barely get a 20% uplift gen-on-gen. Even the 2070 was 35% faster than the 1070 and 14% faster than the 1070 Ti. It also boasted okay RT performance and DLSS.

Lackwell is without a doubt the worst GPU generation in a long time. It makes Turing look like Pascal.

What a piece of shit. Same performance as 4070S for a little discount? Why, Nvidia? Why didn't you just keep producing the 4000 series instead of going forward with this joke of a launch?

Sorry, but several of those things are not Pros.

The Founder Edition cooler sends a ton of hot air on top of the CPU and memory. And this can become a problem in the summer, especially due to memory being very sensitive to temperature.
20% faster than the previous gen is a terrible improvement. Probably the worst ever in a gen over gen.
Fake frames have a ton of issues, including latency and image artifacts. The more fake frames it generates, the worst it gets.
Considering the lack of vram, even 550$ is a lot to ask for this GPU. And if we look at the die size, this should be a 5060.
PCI-e Gen5 is useless even on an RTX5090. Much more useless for a 5070.

Last year you could find a 4070 Super for even under 600€, now this is releasing at 669€, but no one will be able to find it for less than 700€ for months probably.

Performance per price was better last year with the series 4000 than it will be this year with the new gen (at least for now), crazy.

Wonder how will the 9070 compare to this.

The regular 9070 should be a bit faster.

Basically a scam. What a piece of shit hardware, it's not even worth the raw material used to make it, let alone 550$.

You should have posted the Indiana Jones screencap. 13fps due to 12gb VRAM.

It's the 8gb 3070 all over again.
We are already at a point where even 12gb is not enough for modern games. AMD should really reconsider cancelling that 32gb 9070 XTX.

I'm happy with my 3070
I hope 6070 brings some decent improvements so I can build a PC around it eventually. 4070 and 5070 are not worth it for me

The AMD prices are really competitive, let's see how those cards turn out.
9070 XT is rumored to be competitive with 4070 ti super in RT. if the 9070 isnt much slower than the XT in RT, AMD will for the first time have a product at similar value and SKU that beats Nvidia in RT
