People who can't afford a $2400 Gpu care.

Not everyone can afford the shit we can bro. Don't be so dense
I mean... Some people can't afford a Lambo either?
The highest end product pricing really doesn't matter.
The issue is the price creep in the mid and low tiers.

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.
I'm usually right there, but for $2500 it'll have to offer an awful goddamn big upgrade from a 4090.

No doubt Nvidia will introduce 50x0 only features to incentivize you to upgrade.

Just a few more weeks and we will actually know stuff about the 5000 series including the price.
For now I’m huffing copium and hopium.

Those greedy grasping cunts will kill pc gaming at this rate. I steadfastly refuse to go anywhere near a console but will eventually have no choice with madness like this.

It’s a not even a 2 weeks salary in the grand scheme of things who fucking care

Eh, I prefer putting that money into so many other things, such as sending my daughters to private school, have a family weekend in Quebec City, go more to restaurants etc.

There’s no games that really needs this, especially if you already have a 4090. I’m not talking about fuckup ports here of course.

I would prefer downgrading to 1080p res for a very demanding game than spending that cash on flagship GPU.

All ephemeral things. Great GPU power is forever. What's wrong with public schools and vacationing to Saguenay instead of Quebec City anyway?

As my wife teaches in public school, oh so so many things.

Saguenay is always fucking raining when I go there 😂

This better be the scenario! I wouldn't mind taking back some of the 2500 I have saved.

Hopefully AMD delivers something good and Intel continues evolving their new affordable GPU's.
I really want to switch to PC but these prices are insane.

Consoles should be cheap and subsidised as the revenue comes from software sales within their ecosystem.

I mean, the sad thing is that even at $700 that's relatively cheap compared to the cost of everything else.
In 2014 the strongest console was $399, a high end GPU like the 980 was $550 and the highest end Iphone (16 Plus) was like $400

Now the strongest console is $700, a high end GPU is $1500-2000 and the highest end iPhone starts at $1200

16 GB for almost 2k

Only an idiot would buy/support that shit, but we all know a few around here who will.
yep, "have to have latest and greatest". Don't understand how they reason it. I guess if you are born with a silver spoon it doesn't matter, but to the rest of us, fuck no.

Shit I will be using my 3060ti (which I thought was pricey compared to earlier cards) until it dies or no longer plays 1080p.

RTX 5090 for 2400 and RTX 5080 for 1500. This is what happens when a single company corners the market.

I wonder how much Nvidia will charge for the 5070 and 5060. One thing is certain: It won't be cheap.

I have the cash but I simply won't buy this out of principal.

Utter bullshit and let me guess it plays the same games with 20 more fps. Ha.

I'll just use Balanced mode DLSS.
Yep, fully agree. This is complete BS. I can afford it but I refuse. 5080 is looking to be bot that far above 4080S and for that price , Nvidia can bite it.

5090 is also crazy but as their “Titan” card with 32GB VRAM there was kind of expected if still way too high.

And just wait till tariffs hit on top of this. Hell, I would rather buy another MBPro, lol, vs paying for a 5090. At least the way I can have 64GB of VRAM to play with AI models.

ok, i'll never build myself a gaming pc ever again....
Your sentiment is going to grow as the years go on.
I think gaming PC's as currently designed are going to die out.
A total rethink, no longer separating the individual parts and just unify everything into an APU and memory, and set number of ordered to manufacture.
Just like a regular normal plain ole everyday consoles.
Steam Console?

Yeah these prices are just completely insane. I expected the 5090 to cost what the 5080 price is. The 5080 being a 16gb card should have just cost around the 500 to 600 mark at most and stronger than a 4080 by a decent amount.

Long gone..

These new prices make the 1080 Ti seem like a bargain comparatively and it’s not even that long ago

Good news is that, I really can’t think of a game where I need this in 2025 or even what I know of 2026 games. Games still target consoles so to have monster GPUs at this point is to waste it on 4K native or wanting >200 fps or tank performances with ultra maximum extreme X will it run settings, which needs a 400% zoom from digital foundry to even find a difference with high/medium.

So no buy from me

AMD and Intel have to step it up

The 1000 series was by far the best and there won't ever be any generation as good as it even counting inflation. 300 something so not even 400 dollars for a brand new 1070 8gb when I got it and still using it after around 8 years. The gtx 260 to a gtx 770 to a 970 each gave me around a couple of years before I wanted to upgrade but the GTX 1070 gave me 8 years and still counting.

I'm just glad I'm fine with sticking to 1080P forever so I'll be aiming for something like a 5060 16gb version which will most likely still be a rip off but at least I won't get rip off as much since I don't need to aim for anything higher as I'm fine with 1080p.

still will sold out day 1, week 1, month 1.

happy waiting or i can get you some scalper contacts.

anyway blame tsmc for charging YOU an arm and leg, nothing leather man can do.

Easiest skip ever. Lucky for me there are no graphically demanding games on the horizon that I actually want to play at better fidelity than what a 4090 can do.

6090 should be coming around Witcher 4 launch and GTA6. Ill probably just do a whole new build for that.
Yeah Witcher 4, GTA VI would be great games to truly motivate me to upgrade and especially Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 for the modding potential. Even though I won't be able to play certain games now with my old i7 5820k, gtx 1070, and HDD, at least none of the current demanding games are a big must play so I could wait for those heavy hitters to come before buying a brand new PC with the 6000 series or something. I just hope my current PC won't die until then cause it's 8 years old already and counting. But if it dies now or soon than a 5060 ti with a brand new PC instead of the 6000 series.
