Yeah, pretty much.

I don't think that wishing death on anyone is a good thing, even if it's in the 'wake up sheeple' cause.
They've invaded another country in 2022 after zero provocation (not even an attack on them like with 9/11).

I think it's not only right to wish death on the invaders, but what needs to be done. Otherwise is weakness and exactly the sort of attitude that has given Putin the confidence to invade.

Edit: And I take no pleasure in wishing death upon others. But this just has to be the case. Being kind and understanding has been tried. What do you think the last few months, and especially weeks, have been?! It didn't work. Not that it was ever going to, but I've been holding off telling people that to let them think this would be resolved peacefully.

2014 hurt everyday russian in a way you can not imagine.
GOOD!

It's RUSSIAN president's actions that caused all of this. In 2014 and today, 24.02.2022. People dies, economy collapses, because of ONE man and his ambitions. He and ONLY HIS decision was to attack whole Ukraine

Nothing will change and Putin will do whatever he wants if he is not stopped from within Russia.

This is an unprovoked, illegal war. Killing those responsible is the proportionate way to punish it. Sadly, it probably won’t happen enough.

bruh, this is Russia, one of the biggest military powers in the world right now with actual nuclear power
no one will fucking dare to touch them unless they want nuclear war
it's over before it even began

This. If you’re going to be a part of an unprovoked act of aggression that kills thousands of civilians, which this will certainly do, then those people have every right to kill you.

Exacting a huge toll in blood and treasure is the only thing that can stop tyrants like Putin

I don't think Putin is stupid enough to launch any nukes. If he launched one nuke on a NATO country, Russia would probably be looking at other nuclear power nations launching nukes against Russia.

Putin knows as well that NATO will not do anything besides sanctions. Sanctions that he's already considered and prepared for.

one of my friend lives in Kyiv and she says the army has entered.
Missus just rang me from Poland in tears. She isn't the type of woman to cry.

So reports from Poland according to her is (naturally) complete shock and absolute fear and horror. Apparently all over the news as you would expect, same as anywhere else. Asked me to put her mother up here. I said yes.

Terrible news and whats even more terrible is that Putin knows besides temporary sanctions nor UE nor Nato will do anything to intervene. No one is going to risk a global war for Ukraine as much as that sounds bad. Thats the reality. Hell, even if he decides to invade my country, Romania, or Finland which has heavy ex russian ties, it would take a lot of effort for the dumb western leaders to do anything. Basically the west are sigma males, the weirdos in highscool while Putin is the alpha. Good luck to everyone if Putin ever decides to do much worse shit.

We had over 40 years of Cold War and communist expansion without it turning into a hot one

At worst we'll see an escalation of proxy wars
We’ve come shockingly close to all out nuclear war in the past. But for some stupid luck, we’re all alive. Given how fast things can escalate, I’d prefer to not keep counting on luck.

This. It's just sanctions that Putin would have already fully considered. A show of force may stop him and make him think twice, but that would be a huge gamble. A gamble I'm sure no NATO nation is willing to try.

At what point, while they walk all over the Ukraine or afterwards if they try to expand past that?

I'm guessing on possible proxy conflicts as well a la the Cold War, but let's not forget that they exacted incredibly destructive human tolls. It would still be horrific, and leave lasting harm upon the combatant proxy nations for decades to come, even if it isn't all-out war.

My biggest fear is good old Boris (sarcasm) decides to grow a pair. In the hopes of saving his job. Dreams of being compared to Churchill and decides to face down Putin. By sending in British troops to the Ukraine off his own back.

They took Crimea and parts of Georgia years ago. Dagestan, Chenya wars years before that. This isn't a new trend

The West will move on in a few months and Ukraine will just become a Russian republic

Guys, I can inform from Poland
We dont hear any explosions,
Tension is really high,
Out idiot gov saying "russia wouldnt dare to attack us, we are strong".... lol
edit "I am scared as fuck anyway"
Poland has a strong army. Arguably better and stronger than Ukraine. So the biggest fish in the East. And you're part of NATO, you guys and gals will be fine. Putin won't dare to start WW3.

He knows he can fuck in the Ukrain without the West doing military intervention

What a load of shit. This has nothing to do with one being alpha and the other not. The EU wants to avoid an all out war on European soil - and thank god they do. I don't went them to do anything more than sanctions until the completely run out of options.

This isn't remotely funny. This doofus severely underestimates the gravity of compromising data security and information lines in the modern world where the world population has become highly dependent on it.

Trumps' unpredictability was undeniable, but there's just as much chance he'd have sent Putin an bunch of flowers for attacking Ukraine, as put hard sanctions against him. Obama and Biden are/were weak, but Trump could have done far worse.

But, as stated, the entire American political system has failed so hard that this is has been allowed to happen. We need a USA more concerned with geopolitical stability, than religion and gender fluidity.

I'm on the verge of thinking that the current turmoil in the west was some kind of clever, intended ploy or diversion to delibrately cause a state of division, confusion, internal strife and chaos from within. They might've realised the potency of information and social platforms as an abstract weapon.

I was being sarcastic, apologies. Thought that was obvious but have a late "/s". Anyone that keeps up to date with history knows that they've land-grabbed, lost and grabbed again. Not the only nation to do so.

With the saber rattling going on though, it is worth questioning,

"Putin threatens West with ‘greatest consequences in history’ if it interferes in Ukraine" - The Times 24/02/2022.

You can have more weapons but one thing for sure your balls will never be as big as Putin's and that is pretty significant in conflict.

The best that could happen for the long term, is to exterminate the threat from its roots, with no time to hesitate.

But that would end in a catastrophic way for the current times.

The first to pull the trigger is certainly doomed. If you are not a pussy, go ahead...

I‘ll gladly be a dumbass for not wanting to go through war a couple of years. A big chunk of my family did in former Yugoslavia. Thanks but no thanks.

The chances of a conservative government truly coming down hard on Russia with sanctions are slim to none, given that half the fucking Tory party pal around with the self same oligarchs who prop Putin up.

Xi Jinping and Putin really take advantage of weak Western leaders; the gender-confused, rainbow-loving left-wing leaders, and the deranged, spoiled brat Trump.

Strong leader like Reagan won the cold war and played crucial role in breaking up the USSR. Now Putin is trying to rebuild it back again. I think he wants that as his legacy,

Why because while the U.K. were locking down. Hun and his buddies were holding parties. Everyone wants him to resign even his own party members. He is such an opportunist and desperate to save his own skin so might actually try something so insane.

Yeah, and Boris is being as two faced now when he talks about "serious consequences for Putin" as he was when he was talking about how seriously he takes lockdowns.

Reagan was just in the right place at the right time. The USSR imploded on its own

Funny how people are outraged and in disbelief. Comments like:

How dare Russians invade another country? It's only okay when we do it.

or

Wait, a war in 2022? How is that possible. Forget these ongoing wars in the Middle East or Africa. Nobody cares about those.

Simply pathetic.

Care to elucidate on which invasions by western nations you‘re speaking about that parallel what the Russians are doing?

He's going to go on tv in 40 minutes to announce more sanctions.

Speaking to a special ex-special forces mate of mine, he said the plan is probably to have one of the Oligarchs put two in his head in exchange for their sanctions removed

Then your family should know how it feels to be bombarbed and bullied by a super power and no one to help you. Weak.

Russia does not want a global war either. Pulling the trigger first is not doom. Putin is a bully and he knows pussy westerners wont do shit, cuz if they did, he would not have invaded.

Yup , but everyone on the internet has a big dick .. until you are needed to fight … and bombs are dropping around you .. then they will stay silent .. or flee .
I assume whoever wrote this is either from the US, Australia or Canada and hence out of harm way.

Well, I ain't. I don't want that shit here. From what I understand they have been fighting russian seperatists in the border region for almost 10 years now and could not get it under control. Not to excuse that asshole Putin but they should have seen it coming.

What do you know? If anything my family knows not to support fucking retard assholes who were all in for the stupid split of Yugoslavia and then gave them squat in the end. All I hear when I go down there is how much better live was in former Yugoslavia.

Check my previous posts.

While some of the reasons behind American military action in the past few decades can rightly be regarded as questionable, to compare any of them to the blatant warmongering being prosecuted by Putin on an entirely innocent nation, makes anyone who does so an absolute fucking moron.
