I just don't know if the stuff would fuck with the plastic and I like to be sure there is none left behind, so I always open them.
You also get a much better view of what you're cleaning with the cart open.

I just got a 32x for 25$, is that a good deal?

I am still debating if I should get Phantasy Star IV. I am not big on 16bit RPGs (I prefer plataformers) but should I get this classic? Its price was high some months ago and now it went lower a little bit. Is US$ 67 too much for it?
Game is awesome. I would think if you don't like 16bit RPGs, it's probably not for you, though.
That is a shit price. Here's a great looking complete copy on ebay for $45 shipped: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Phantasy-St...8668?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item3f2664c80c
You should be fine if Genesis carts are playing on the 32X. That would be highly unusual for the unit to be broken if you can do that.
I got one of the best gifts ever this weekend.

Crappy iPhone picture aside, this is the best looking TV I have ever played a Genesis on. As you can see off to the side, it will be just one retro system that I play on it. Best thing, and something I haven't tried yet? It has COMPONENT IN on it, which I will be using with a Wii to start. I own pretty much everything short of a Turbo Duo right now, so I am going to be in retro heaven!
I did not look at the model number. I was too excited just to play something on it to care. That photo is actually composite input with absolutely no tweaking at all. Fire Shark. Also, here's a .mov also from the phone of the Fire Shark attract screen. Air conditioner is loud...
CRT FTW!
I have to thank my coworker who has had this TV sitting around doing nothing for a couple years. My Trinitron quit about a month ago and it was very sad. I think a board inside is overheating on the old one/blown out. I am getting no picture on it whatsoever. Sad days. This friend didn't even ask for payment. Just gave it to me as he knew I would use it. He's a gamer too... a shooter fan... the real shooters, vertical and horizontal ones... and wanted this to have a good home.
Neo Geo AES tonight! Woohoo!
Thats pretty awesome, I wish I would have been into retro gaming two years ago, my grandparents had a really nice trinitron, but they got rid it for an lcd![]()
I know this thread is mostly for collectors of old carts and stuff, but if you're interested in playing it (legally) as opposed to just collecting it, it's $1.50 on Steam right now. That, or get the Steam pack of Genesis classics 5, which includes PS4 with a bunch of other Genny classics for $3.75.
I already have it on Xbox 360. Yeah, this is mainly for collecting, but nothing beats playing the game on an original hardware. There is something like the "feeling" of the game.
I was asking because the price of the game was high in the last months, but I would not buy it just ot put it in a shell, at least I have to have the intention to play it.
They have the best audio quality. Sega changed the sound chip shortly after they removed the "HIGH DEFINITION GRAPHICS" tagline from the consoles - a few with the good chip exist without the line, but they're uncommon. How important is it that I get a Model 1 with the HD graphics text on it?
I keep missing out on them on ebay, and I can't believe they are going for $50 with shit games...

Girlfriend bought me a pristine Megadrive as an early birthday gift. Knew I was looking for one.
Can't wait to get Toejam and Earl!
Trying to track down a Sega CD for model 2, but proving to be difficult. If anyone in this thread has one and wants to sell, pleas pm me.
I got one of the best gifts ever this weekend.

Seeing all the collection pics makes me want to post mine. I'm far too lazy to pull them all out and take pictures (there's a lot of loose carts) but here's a little chunk of my boxed favorites:

Nice!!!
I'm still trying to get a copy of Separation Anxiety!
PAL is impossible and NTSC is rather expensive too!
I like when people post collections because it gives me SEGA porn to look at while at work. =)I like when people post collections because it reminds me which games I don't own yet that I really ought to... like General Chaos and Mercs!
A few items that I saw:if we don't have a thread for it, we should make a Seattle retro con so ya'll can show off your goods & talk about any rarities seen there.
Battlecorps is a fantastic game.
Haven't had a chance to load it up yet, but sounds promising!Battlecorps kicks SO much ass.
I have that SEGA guide, too!
Oooh, CIB SoR3, Adv of Batman & Robin, and Sunset Riders! Nice!
