You only use 'an' if the word starts with a vowel

It's a vowel sound, not strictly a vowel. Examples that contradict the incorrect starts with a vowel "rule": I'm going for an X-Ray in an hour or so. A Universe beyond our own. If it has the sound of a vowel, it's an.
