Had to boot the game to check, you're right it's there after the epilepsy warning. Very subtle. Compare that to Short Message that needs to make sure you're ok every 30 mins or so.There’s a trigger warning as soon as you fire it up. It warns about the themes and has a QR code to scan for “help.”
Fun video from a Silent Hill maniac and true hardcore Downpour hater:

If you thought the hospital was hell…
Just got out of the goddamn hospital. Holy shit, my ass was on fire the whole way through this hell hole. It's the scariest, the most nerve wracking and terrifying shit I've seen in traditional survival horror games since.... SH3 probably. None of the RE remakes come even close. What they did with the enemies in the game is an astounding achievement in comparison to what they were in the original game. And the Flesh Lip boss fight... simply amazing rework of the whole thing, hands down.
I can't even imagine what they'll do with the first game if Konami lets them do it, but I can tell you right now that my ass is not ready for this kind of shit based on what I've seen in their version of SH2 so far.
Any chance to see the game discounted before or on Black Friday for PSN version?
For me nothing beats the hospital’s second floor, the area where the nurse’s station is. The sounds there were so nightmarish that I was terrified even if I just needed to get close to that place. F that place.tommib OmegaSupreme
P.S. I mean, the whole ascent and then descent from the huge skyskraper as Abby in TLOU2 was one hell of a suicide mission, but... man, SH2R is worse, MUCH worse, but in a good survival horror way though.
I need horror game for this October and I decided give SH2 Remake a chance. I was very critical on direction the game was going with but after playing this game on hard for good 7 hours and reaching the hospital.
I have to say this game is MUCH better than I thought, there are clear cues they get from RE2Remake but despite of that this game is very much feel like SH game especially when comes exploration and encounters.
What I really like even after killing the enemy their bodies never disappear so you always have this uneasy feeling they might comeback any time which increase tension without needing cheap loud noice or flashing jump scare in your face which Alan Wake 2 loves to do.

First time I played, I thought prison was nightmare fuel.If you thought the hospital was hell…
Well…
Get your Xanax prescription ready, baby boy.
I’ll never forget that level + what comes after. It’s probably the most horrific combo of areas in videogame history.First time I played, I thought prison was nightmare fuel.

Glad I skipped that one then.Had to boot the game to check, you're right it's there after the epilepsy warning. Very subtle. Compare that to Short Message that needs to make sure you're ok every 30 mins or so.
One of the best horror levels ever. It is tense as hellThe prison area is incredible, loving all the stress and anxiety.
True survival horror experience.
I’m at final stretch, doing final dungeon and I only play SH2 in late nights before going to sleep.Damn dude you finished Metaphor already?
Finished the game and then watched all the endigs i missed on yt, so...what is the canon ending? Because different endings completely change the entirety of james character and how he digest the silent hill experience, so there must be a canon one that determine who this guy really is.
dude goes from not being able to live anymore, to trying to revive mary, to going away with laura, to not learning anything from the sh experience and going out with maria and being a creepy asshole that is probably gonna kill her when the cough at the end is gonna get worse and he is gonna repeat the cycle
Yeah, more enemy variety would have definitely helped. There’s only so much you can do with completely dark and scary environments. It reminded me a bit of the really dark levels in the Metro games. It was always a relief to step back out into Silent Hill after those closed-off interior sections.
Still SH2 enemies looks waaaaaaay better than what AW2 give us, I especially was disappointed in the dark world they could have come up with more creative enemies but instead they give blurry looking enemies and feels like they tried to censor something.Enemies are tied to the story, they couldn't be more that what are in the game, it's already enough that we get variation of them.
The entire AWII feels even more like a boring af walk in the park with terrible enemy design (cuz of which combat and everything around it suffers a lot) after this:
I mean, the atmosphere and visuals are there in AWII, but unfortunately absolutely nothing else gameplay and combat wise.
I appreciated what AW2 try to do but at its core Remedy still dont know how make good survival horror game. They rely on cheap jump scare wth loud noise because dont have good enemies to support it.Tell me about it. AW2 is amateur hour compared to SH2. Its just pretentious slog with stupid jump scares. Nearly done with the dlc and wont ever look back. I liked Remedy when they made simple games like Max Payne.
It's funny that AW2 was the game I couldn't wait for and loved the preview footage of and ended up hating. Like you said, it feels aggressively pretentious and all style while the game itself has no teeth. SH2 was a trash fest on my end and turned out to be the Titanic of Survival Horror with a vibe that feels like the polar opposite of AW2 that ends up achieving what that game wishes it could in its wildest board room meeting dreams.Tell me about it. AW2 is amateur hour compared to SH2. Its just pretentious slog with stupid jump scares. Nearly done with the dlc and wont ever look back. I liked Remedy when they made simple games like Max Payne.

You and me both, and I was pretty much a diehard fan up until then. AW2 is the most disappointing game/sequel I’ve played in years. And now I question everything Remedy does.
Side note - What’d we all think of Laura’s Theme in this one?

It goes to show you just HOW IMPORTANT enemy design really is in survival horror games. They have other problems like boring and needlessly long traversal between areas during Saga's story, but honestly, I could close my eyes on this if enemy designs weren't so bad, boring and combat didn't suffer a lot cuz of this.Tell me about it. Its MOST important part of good survival horror game, I go as far as say it’s important as combat. It goes to show you just HOW IMPORTANT enemy design really is in survival horror games. Because there is nothing scary about just running away. Combat adds player choice and the fact sooner or later you have to confront the those scary monsters which adds tension and fear.I can go without combat but I dont like hide and seek/ trial error gameplay like Outlast for example.
Maybe it would've been cool if they turned him into some sort of Mister X from RE2 that haunts you down in the Other World versions.
Dont watch it until you cleared the prison area, bravo. This is masterpiece in survival horror

This tune is one of my favorite moments in the game. I keep listening to it and thinking about what an incredible gaming moment it was to walk into this after the impeccable build-up to the apartment.
