Yes. And besides, Mania was awesome. People just want good games, which Sonic Team seems to be incapable of delivering now.Why do they still make Sonic games... do enough people buy them?
I feel like the reviews on this game are harsher because Mania may be fresh on the minds of some of these reviewers...not that theyd admit it. I feel bad for it honestly...after all the garbage/mediocrity that came before Mania, sonic forces being the game that releases a few months right behind the best sonic game in 20 years is just plain bad luck.

So all previous games made by Sonic Team sold well, so yeah, they got the message.Sonic Generations sold quite well. Same with Colors and Sonic:Lost World. But apparentely Sonic Boom: Ryse of Lyric sold poorly. So you'd think SEGA and Sonic Team would get the message...

The internet is ready to hate this game.
The "Mania = good, Forces = trash" narrative has been in place for about a year.
The internet media conveniently forget the high scores they gave to Generations and Colors when they talk about sonic just not working in 3d.
Trashing this game will bring in the clicks.
It's all about the clicks and the circlejerk of hate. You've gotta give the people what they want and any reviewer should be wary of giving this game a good score regardless of whether or not they enjoy it, if they care about their internet journalist credibility.
I expect some "I had fun but nitpick nitpick nitpick 5/10" reviews and also 1/10 from the likes of Jim Sterling.

Jim Sterling.does not review video games since...well a lot of time. Rest assured he won't be giving it any score

I too like to pretend that the WiiU was a successful console.Considering the rapid sales decline since 2011 people are fed up.

Please stop with the paranoia.
Colors and Generations were very well received. They received positive reviews and are looked at, overall, very fondly even here on GAF.
But Adventure 1 and 2 have aged badly. Lost World is a bad game. Sonic 06 is one of the worst games I've ever played. Unleashed is an average game where half of it is good and the other half is not.
Forces has almost never looked good in any of its showings. The "Mania = good, Forces = trash" narrative you speak of existed because Mania looked great from its unveiling while Forces has never had a good showing.
And now it looks like the game turned out to be bad. There is no conspiracy. Sonic 3D games are usually not very good, it's as simple as that.
Well see about that. Many critics praised Sonic 4 too. Its only a matter of time until they turn on Mania claiming it wasnt that great and Sonic was never good.I think this game, despite the bad reviews, is going to get a bit of a bump from Mania, which has rejuvenated a lot of nostalgia for the franchise, and repaired perceptions about the early part of its legacy.
I will not be picking it up. I may Redbox it if I have a slow weekend, though.
Go buy Sonic Mania and forget about this until it goes on sale for 10 bucks.
your neighbor or his kidExcellent response.
YES, the sonic cycle and 3D sonic games have become almost a mean stereotype, however there is good reason for it.
This game is trash. My neighbor got it for his kid (he'll play ANY sonic game regardless of shittiness) and even he said it sucks.
this game is 500 pesos on the eshop, thats almost the price of an indie and waaaay less than a 3DS game

Or the game blows. The internet is ready to hate this game.

Just bought it on eshop and downloading now
Cant wait!
Is there any proof of this? Is it possible they have different taste?
Genuinely curious.
I remember them being unreliable in the 16bit gen.I may be the only person here who can actually confirm that, yes, Famitsu scores are influenced by money.
Arc System Works published my game, Skullgirls, in Japan. Famitsu gave us straight 8s, and our Arc PR rep was so surprised.
"I just sent the game for them to check it out, and everyone was so surprised when they reviewed it! It got such a good score and we didn't pay anything!"
My understanding is that there is usually a base review fee, and then you can sweeten the score with additional funding. With fewer games being released in Japan these days, we may have gotten lucky getting reviewed without paying the review fee.

With friends I feel like I can accomplish anything
Is it possible to get a refund on estore?

I watched a review and it's basically just "it's good, but more of the same." In other words the same review every Mega Man game got back in the day and I enjoyed those. Is there anything actually bad about Sonic Forces, or is it a "letdown" in the same way Mega Man 4 on were "letdowns?"
