Sonic x Shadow Generations sold 1 million units on it's first day

3.5m in 6 months and 1m in 2 months is nothing comparable to achieving the same amount as the latter in 1 day.
It's still a lot hell better than only selling 1M units in a few years.
And I'm talking Moreso in the grand scheme of the franchise, most games after sonic 2 never sold that fast. Even if it's picking up now for the longest time sonic was lucky to get 2m
I brought up those games (well, Frontiers in particular) because it shows how much the series has grown over the past years, in big part thanks to the success of the movie series.
IMO, it's not weird that Sonic X Shadow Generations has sold this good, the third Sonic movie (which SXS Gens is tied to) is guaranteed to do gangbusters.

Also the TV series and comics.

I now remember that SIE had marketing rights for this game (revealed at a SoP, appeared at another SoP, and even had exclusive PS content).
Safe to say that they'll be doing it again.

Yes, but Sonic games usually launch on all platforms and they don't sell 1 million in one single day.

i don't believe they will ever make a Sonic Adventure 3, its just a pipe dream by fans.

SEGA wanted to experiment outside the Adventure brand since some people complained it doesn't resemble the classic games.

But some projects since then have been influenced by these games, Shadow the Hedgehog is a continuation of the storyline, Sonic 2006 is essentially Adventure 3(just badly made) with a realistic artsyle,Sonic Unleashed started as Adventure 3 before evolving into something else, and Sonic Frontiers is the new formula that evolved from Sonic Adventure

It might be a pipe dream, but them working on generations again is close enough.

Yeah all of them outside Generations sucked. So they should just go back to the formula as Generations and Adventure share alot of the 3D gameplay. Why make anoter Unleashed or 2006 when the generations.adventure formula works better.

I havent tried frontiers yet

With this and Astro Bot I had a great year of platformers

Rebirth and potentially Re Fantazio (if I find some free time to play it) has covered RPG

Unleashed on 360 is great, day stages are awesome (fastest Sonic yet), and there's nothing wrong with night stages.

Underrated Sonic game imo.

I wouldn't say there was nothing wrong with the night stages....the God-of-War-lite combat is fine, but the platforming is less fine, and they tended to drag on for way too long. Eggmanland stands to this day as the most unhinged level ever developed for a Sonic game.

I do agree about the day stages, though: they're some of the best in the modern Sonic style.

I wish i could play Sonic Unleashed(and maybe Lost World ),the low review scores at the time made me stay away .but it looks like one of the most ambitious Sonic games, and underrated, unfortunately SEGA doesn't care about it

At least i imagine its a better game than Sonic Heroes,2006 and Shadow, i don't know whats wrong with Unleashed other than the infamous Werehog but it doesn't look that bad

If you want to play Unleashed without the Werehog sections, either play the Wii version which diminishes the Werehog stuff or play the Unleashed project mod for Generations:

No, i would like to play the whole game actually, its just that part i remember everyone complaining about(before launch)

In that case the best version of the HD Unleashed is through Xbox Series X Backwards compatibility.

The Werehog parts aren’t insanely bad or anything, it’s just that they play like a long lost B-game platformer from the N64/PS1 generation, so you go from the crisp hypersonic speeds of running through daytime courses finding the best routes, secrets, time trials, etc. and suddenly the next level you feel like you’re moving through mud doing the same 3 hit combo room to room on enemies with baby-level AI.

That’s why quite a few people just played the Wii version. You lose a bit of the city hub exploration and some werehog levels, but you gain a better paced experience.

Also if you're curious Lost World is currently on Steam. I actually need to give it a shot myself one day.

Night stages is "ok", i had fun with the combat!
Imagine a remake with day stages at 60fps. :O
