Sony E3 2014 Conference Thread

Asked in another thread, but is there a list of games that are exclusive and not.

PlayStation

Little big planet 2
Driveclub
The last of us remastered
Planetside 2
Indies (dunno which are though)

Xbox

Sunset overdrive
Forza horizon 2
Halo master chief collection
Killer instinct season 2
Indies (again don't know which are exclusive)

Every other game shown today are on both systems

That's just this year, 2015 is where it gets different

shots fired at Microsoft about bundling kinect then they go on to talk about t.v and movies.. argh....
I wasn't much of an xbox fan but after sony presentation i see no reason to pick up a ps4. everything of interest is either multiplatform or eventually coming to xbox.
I agree with the TV stuff, that was dumb when they knew the response they would get after MS show last year. But what about the first-party 2015 titles and better versions of multiplatform titles? MS had a better show for 2014 for sure but 2015 is crazy for PS4.

i seriously honestly thought the last guardian would be the final showing of the night. i had a feeling that it was about to pop up during all sorts of segments, but it made the most sense to end it there.

instead it was making uncharted darker and more seriouser. who the fuck thought it was a great idea to end the conference on such a downer? and for me and my tastes, this was the expectation to have dashed. i completely forgot another uncharted was in the works.

So project beast isn't exclusive cause I thought it was.

Nintendo better bring it because E3 have sucked ass so far.

You are right. From what I have seen my highlights are:

A lot in early production/production so 2015/2016 is looking good.

Rainbow Six Siege looks tense and fun.

AC Unity, the graphics and animations are smoother, but I guess it is AC.

I think BF Hardline has potential to be fun.

CoD AW looks better than I expected.

I don´t know why but I don´t feel Destiny.

Did sony really show drive club??? I missed the press conference and expected to come back to insanity. But..... they really showcased a release game 7 months after the first delay??? I need to watch the conference while I'm sober, but please really guys? Am I really going to have to trade this thing for a Wii-U? I don't want to, but I'd rather play mario kart than a bunch of indies I can get for PC.

Same thing I felt about the Microsoft press conference. Lots of great third party titles shown off for both.

I don't remember there being much DriveClub.

But if you think it's smart to go ahead and drop the best console for playing every third party game out there for one that has literally no third party support and no future outside of Nintendo franchises then I guess go ahead. Crazy fool.

Man, shenmue not being announced has me bummed out :(

I thought for sure that at the very least we would be getting an HD remake after Adam started mentioning that list and what gamers kept asking him for since it was one of the top requests. To end that segment on a zombie game was pretty disappointing personally.

I didn't hate the conference though. Personally, i think Sony slightly edged out MS in terms of stuff I actually care about so my final rating would be: PS>XB>>UB>>>>>>>>EA. Uncharted, Batman, and no man's sky were the standouts for me. MS had Sunset that looked amazing/super fun, but really wasn't enough to tip me back after going ps4 this gen. OK conference overall on both sides.

Well damn it's going to be a glorious 2015, huh?

Cannot wait for MGS, Batman, Bloodborne, Kingdom Hearts, Uncharted 4, Witcher 3 but fuck me it's going to be one hell of a long wait.

Screw the early adopters I guess right...

Hey we always have indies right guys? :/

Last of Us and GTA V and Destiny will help fill the rest of the year I guess but damn am I disappointed that we don't have another AAA title to play this year. Dragon Age, AC, and Far Cry will also help don't get me wrong. And No Mans Sky does looks cool as an indie game, I will give it that.

That being said compared to MS, Sony blew the competition out of the water for my interests. Only exclusive I have any interest in is the Halo Collection and even that pales to the epic list of PS4 games above. Any multiplatform console game will be better on PS4 so that's really irrelevant for generating interest in the XB1. PS4 should be the dominating platform by a wide margin come the end of 2015.

Still sucks that the PS4 won't be a must have device until 2015 and that the transition from a mediocre/average library to a superb library isn't more gradual.

Instead they had a segment on Powers that JUST WOULDN'T END. Ugh

They knew how disastrous that whole TV bullshit turned out for MS,
but they still went ahead and announced Powers at E3, like WTH?!

Not a single trailer or clip either.

Take out that part, along with Layden's and Adam's then you'd get a great conference.

Sometimes Sony comes across as entirely brain dead.

I think I agree this your assessment. Microsoft's console didn't bring the thunder like I expected, but it wasn't terrible. They didn't give me a reason to consider an Xbox One purchase, but I didn't think they honestly could so close after launch. With all these big name old Xbox franchises, I'm now feeling more and more like I'm alright missing out on it. Did it for a whole generation after all.

It was even worse because I was in a theater watching it. I couldn't shut it off or browse to another page or switch TV channels (oh wait, Sony wasn't on TV this year for some reason) I just had to sit there and endure it FOR EVER.

The snake oil salesman who showed up in the middle really killed this conference wen it was doing pretty well, that guy looked like he was trying to sell us something so hard. If he wasn't a ceo of Sony I could see him with a briefcase full of commemorative coins going door to door.

That powers thing was totally random too which seemed to last longer than the LBP3 demo and I have no idea why. No TLG was obviously a huge buzz kill. No gameplay for Uncharted 4, The Order's atmosphere is really cool and the monster was awesome but the cutscene stuff is jarring and it didn't look like it was fun to play. No gameplay for bloodborne or dead island 2. LBP3 looks good but I'm more into single player exclusives.

Batman and no man's sky were the best of the show and I think the entire E3, both were amazing. But right now with a gaming PC I haven't seen enough to get me to buy a PS4 yet. I will in 2015 for Uncharted but right now the offering of exclusives is too slim to me.

I'm not a fan of Microsoft but I feel their conference was overall better. They have less exclusive games I'm interested in (only Sunset Overdrive), but just as far as showing people what they had to offer I thought it was much better done. Just game after game, with actual gameplay, no ceo bullshit or graphs. The tone and pacing was right. Sony really should have cut all the random non-game stuff and that bourgeois guy trying to act like he's one of us.

Thankfully Sony saved E3 and had a good show.

I got excited with the Destiny opening, was laughing and smiling at the LBP3 real gameplay, jumped out of my chair for Bloodborne, said hell yeah to the psvita TV, screamed out loud at the GTA5 news, wet myself with the Batman gameplay, and they went out with a bang with Uncharted 4. What a ride!!!

It was too much sports/zombies/dragons/medieval times/darkness/violence.

I went to watch Sony's conference in theaters, and just wanted to leave when tv/movie came up.

I want to see why i enjoy video games, Nintendo still has to present.

If I had to rate the conferences:

Sony: B+
Microsoft: B-
Ubisoft: C
EA: F

Spot on, Microsoft had a surprisingly great show. One of their best imo.

Sony's would have been better without aimless statistics & an awkwardly long talk on Powers or whatever.

Ubisoft was eh as usual.

EA ... I wasn't expecting much but damn literally fell asleep. Boring even for EA standards & those dev diaries... concept art? I would have rather them show nothing instead. I can wait, I mean hell I've waited 5 years for The Last Guardian. If anything these games in concept stage will probably come out before it does. :/

I'd argue if you have all three systems, the WiiU is the least expendable since it's the one most likely to get quality exclusives. The XBone is probably the most expendable since it's in this rough middleground where it's trying to be on par with the PS4 but is technologically inferior (but Microsoft has a shit ton of money and good IPs).

I think it's smarter for people with gaming PCs to wait until 2016/17 to consider buying the new consoles. By then there will be a large enough backlog of exclusives, developers will be much more knowledgeable of the hardware, cross-generational titles will likely die off by then, and the price will likely be lower than it is currently.

Honestly, if you're an enthusiast gamer with a sweet rig, I don't understand why anybody would be interested in consoles. I like them as my primary form of gaming, but that's because I tend not to have the disposable income at any single point to use on a new rig and monitor.

No Man's Sky... what's the deal with that? Timed exclusive or? Either way, it was a highlight. The conference overall had its boring bits, but it also provided the only real surprise of E3 thus far in LittleBigPlanet 3. Coming this year was unexpected (no gaemz.).

I feel like Microsoft put up the absolute best show they possibly could. But at the end of the day, they had nothing (as far as exclusives go) to compete with Bloodborne ad Uncharted 4. The new Platinum Games thing looked unbelievably lame. And I'm shocked that anyone wanted a sequel to Crackdown. The last one was trash.

If there's one thing I got from both Sony and MS pressers is that 2015 is ridiculously stacked.

Batman, Uncharted, TW3, Quantum Break, Halo, The Order, Rainbow Six, Dead Island 2, and many more I know I'm forgetting. It's as if the industry weren't ready for 2014, and they will really start to get going in 2015.

At least Nintendo has always been about the games, and their games have always been actual games (not movies masquerading as games.)

I'm so close to buy a WiiU instead of PS4 this fall.

No Man's Sky is making it's console debut on PS4. Chances are that means a PS4/PC simultaneous launch with the potential for an Xbox One port sometime in the future.

The problem with Microsoft's console, to me, was that it appeared to be what a market leader's console might look like. Safe, consistent, and heavily focused on the franchises that got you to that place. The problem is that they aren't the market leader any longer. They need games and franchises that draw in new gamers. Sunset Overdrive was the first and only interesting thing they had, for me.

Just would have been nice without the TV stuff wasting 10 minutes. :p

I was expecting gameplay trailers for Last Guardian and Rime. All I got was CG trailers, generic shooters, zombie stuff. Things that I really dislike, presented between boring talking. I was only interested in No Man's Sky and LBP3. As a presentation, it was very boring imo.

They showed some footage rendered in engine, it was so dark you couldn't really tell anything other than the high detailed face of Nate. It was barely a teaser trailer and you think that should be in the Pro column?

The only reason I bought PS4 was for Uncharted and even I think it should be in Con column.

They announced it. Pro column. What did you expect? 30 mins gameplay?
