Sony reportedly very confident with Jade Raymond's Fairgame$

MMMMMMM JADE, I would eat her bum with a spoon!

She is prettier than any character Playstation has produced those last years. Why don't they use her model in their own games? I mean, she is even a real woman! And BTW I see those kind of pretty women all the time in the real world.

lol no you are not and we've seen that with Xbox. They literally released their next gen console with no exclusive and were still selling well at first. Even after like 8+ years of saying we need more games and promising next year.

Plus what are these people going to do go buy an Xbox? lol.
Well no maybe my statement was a bit extreme but if this is what sony are investing in and people aren't buying it the threat isn't that they buy something else. It's that they don't buy what they have invested in.

We're not talking about some suddenly shuttering but they expect growth if they do t get it they pivot. That means pivoting their business focus to where they can see growth. God knows where that is...maybe they revive Vaio and have a gaming PC division.

Wut

The conversation is about pre-release confidence. Not response to market reception.
Gotcha.
If they weren’t confident about Concord, they’d have launched it as F2P, similar to Deatruction All Stars
I took the €40 pricetag as them not expecting too much from the game so charging money to at least generate some guaranteed revenue.
Just like Helldivers 2.
A game you paid $60 for was turned into a coaster after they killed the servers. No refunds.
So?

The game can be saved, but in the state it is now it's a concord level failure waiting to happen.
Unless they are ready take an axe to it, it's better to make it a tax write-off now.

Start by rename it, remove the eat the rich narrative and the edgy zoomer chara design.

The reveal trailer was terrible and people's reaction to it was overwhelmingly negative. Internal polling doesn't mean shit, it's going to die.

Definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting things to change.

All they had to do was chase CoD. Thats it. Go back and make military shooters with like KZ, Resistance, MAG, Warhawk, Socom. But nope. Lets chase hero shooters and extraction shit and fortnite clones and destiny trash.

Cancel this and Marathon. Work on SP games with or without traditional MP. That’s your audience.
They won’t cancel two games that have the potential to be successful. If they fail, they'll move on, but in my opinion, you just don’t cancel projects that are this far along. Factions was an exception because Naughty Dog realized they couldn't support it due to their focus on single-player games. However, those two studios are primarily focused on online games, so there’s nothing to lose.

Well, so it means Fairgame will rely on event testing to figure out how it’s gonna perform.

I’m not really sure, maybe there's some hope if it’s free to play, but honestly, I don’t know a single person who has high expectations for it

Damn, the only card left for Sony to play before Ps6 is pro marketing deals, I hope it pays off later on, this gen for Sony is pure graphics.

I know nothing about Fairgame% outside of the very lame trailer, but I guarantee that people within Sony are taking another look at it right now.

I wonder if the leaders of the company have any regrets about promoting Hulst, too. I know people shit on Jim Ryan but Hulst was also his guy. He spearheaded this gaashit.

I would have kept Factions and Twisted Metal. They offer something unique and different to stand out.
I'd move Factions to another studio and/or team though.

wait till "gamers" find out that you can have characters of colour and even put facepaint on them!

This is really gonna sell like bonkers! /s

Looking forward to the MEGA thread. Popcorn budget is insane this gen. I can hardly keep up. We've got Shadows coming right around the corner too! It's a veritable smorgasbord for popcorn enthusiasts.

It's gonna bomb, hopefully. People are fed up and the market is flooded. The trailer was cringe Marxist nonsense while also being a GAAS title. The irony was not lost on me.

Sony needs to be humbled for as long as it takes. They must feel the pain.

Well we know what the gameplay is like in Factions and Twisted Metal.
Can't think of any other MP game offering the same thing.
Sure, what I am saying is that for all we know those games were in bad shape, or very far behind in schedule (seems to be the case for Factions).
