I can only speak for myself, but the game's been online for me since the 16th. I've been able to test it.
Cheers mate! Also, you totally gotta play further into the game. The high ranking Avalon stuff is crazy sauce.

Let's button mash in a game where you have limited spell uses!
so american reviewers had acces to MP not EU..? what a mess..
In a strange and out of place “mini game”, (and I use the term rather loosely here) Librom will develop droplets of Lacrima on the outside of his binding every so often. The player can gather this when he exits back to his cell, where Librom will remind you to check for droplets. It’s an arbitrary step that is unnecessary.
sure
It seems like a step they put in just to make use of the touchscreen because someone had a bright idea that you could 'wipe' drops off of the cover of the book. It's an odd little thing, really.
You can just press X instead if you don't want to use the touchscreen.

Not going to put too much faith in any of these reviews, I trust a lot more in people like Ryouga Saotome and the Red Sun Gamer guys who gave it really positive thoughts and spent a lot of time with the game.
Yep I trust RSG's gaming opinions the most.
As mentioned you don't have to touch the screen to wipe tears. The X button will do. However I feel that the most unnecessary touch feature is also the best implemented one - Cockroach squishing and book spinning FTW!
Middle of the road reviews? Soul Sacrifice is shamelessly copying all of Monster Hunter's key points!
Remind me of how Monster Hunter was received in the west in the beginning.
Polygon, play the damn game.

My problem with it was that he prompted you every time so it felt like a chore. I'd have preferred it if it was one of those things I occasionally remembered or checked out when I was low on Lacrima. I don't know if the prompting is different in the full game though. You can just press X instead if you don't want to use the touchscreen.

I heard in the JP release you don't even need to go to the book to do this.
meh opinions....
All I got from these reviews were A) Play what you like. I've logged more than with the demo, than I did with the last two Uncharted games combined, and those were $65 games...B) Most reviewers didn't play past the demo area, or didn't finish the game to it's entirety. C) Gaming journalist are narrow minded, comparing Soul Sacrifice to Monster Hunter, is akin to comparing Call of Duty to Bioshock: Infinite.
In the end, people were going to get the game based on the demo, are still getting it. The reviews, unfortunately, may deter those who purchase games solely based on reviews.
In my opinion. SS is a game with very few flaws. The voicing acting maybe? But, even that's decent, especially for a handheld game, there is also a JP option.
Sorry, I don't mean he prompted me after every run, I just mean that if tears needed gathering he explicitly mentioned it every time. It did only happen when I backed out of the book, but it would've been nice to back out and notice the tears myself rather than having my attention purposefully drawn to it. As I say though, I'm only basing this on the demo.Huh? But thats what happens isnt it? He will only prompt you if you exit out of the book. If you stay in the book, you can avoid him for a few runs before gathering Lacrima which gathers up in the meantime.
It's a tradition thing I'm sure and it's nice to have a giant group of opinions in one place, though I honestly feel like the OT is better as it has players who play the game seriouslyI have to wonder for all the shit these sub par professional reviews get and the corruption with games journalism why does some of GAF put so much emphasis on these reviews? I'm not complaining about the thread, just wondering if review threads keep getting done out of tradition.
There's a demo to try out for anyone with a Vita and there are people here who post impressions that have no affiliation with sponsers and the ilk.
I kind of expected this but I'm not bothered by those scores, honestly my opinion rarely seems to align with those of reviewers any more.
I like your avatarWow, my jaw just hit the floor looking at these scores. Really fucking sad. This game deserves so much better.
Deeper than the Grand Canyon and just as expansive, Soul Sacrifice will keep you and a bunch of friends going for some time
People going crazy with the demo putting hours and hours on it and some reviewers give it only 6! Lol
I guess this is the curse of being a vita game.
It's the curse of being a "hunting action" game. Monster Hunter received mediocre reviews until the series exploded in popularity in Japan, and then scores magically improved.
Monster Hunter: 68/100
Monster Hunter Freedom: 71/100
Monster Hunter Freedom 2: 72/100
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite: 81/100
Monster Hunter Tri: 84/100
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate: 82/100 & 79/100

Shame. I hope this doesn't deter people from experiencing a great game
Scoees don't seem too bad to me...
As a guy who is on the fence about getting a Vita for Soul Sacrifice and has no experience with the demo or anything, I'd like to know what exactly is wrong with what was written in the reviews and if someone could clear up any factual errors and misconceptions they may have made. I have no idea what anyone is saying on both sides and have no point of reference.
