Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Looks like some embargo on previews just went up today.

Well, that look at least interesting. I hope they end up better than the last Microsoft's studio that created a third-person action-adventure game based on an original IP with an stylish art direction.

SX targeting 4K/60
SS targeting 1080p/60

Watching Shill-Up's video and they let him preview the game on Series S. Kind of bold, you'd think they only let previewers play the strongest version.

He seems to like the combat.

Preview build has some bugs and frame rate drops, hopefully ironed out by release.

Fuck you read my mind lol, was going to ask about this as gameplay looked like 24fps or something, i know it some kind of effect but still is hard now i discovered the 60fps bliss to play otherwise. :)

Haven't seen anything on the previews to move the needle for me. Still cautiously optimistic and wanting it to turn out great.
Looks better every time they show it, but looks like they need to lock in performance.

If I do multiple playthroughs, I'd want to turn the music off. I know it's part of the lore, but just watching the different previews, it was already getting annoying for me.
Gamepass continues to delvier.

Edit: Insta turn off of Stop motion in game and honestly wish I could turn it off in cutscenes too

The graphic look like a mix between kena and no rest for the wicked.
A Kena in 2025. It really is the game I see most similar to, both in gameplay and visuals. Maybe this SOM enjoy more budget.

We will see in the final reviews whether or not that impression is wrong.

Character design is definitely no rest for the wicked more than kena, the humans especially.

Engadget preview has concerns about the framerate. Looks like further optimization is needed.
Hopefully they really aren’t aiming for 4K/60 on console.

Aside that, very positive impressions so far.

Main concerns are on reported length of the game…

Looking forward to this.

Ordered the vinyl collection for it as well which means it’ll probably be shit because that’s how things go for me.

do not tempt fate do not contrain Wonder Woman's thighs do not do not
Mostly positive previews.

Im all in, loving the art style and the whole vibe of the game.
Till be a good change of pace from most of the games im currently going through.
Ill be playing on PC so im not too worried about the framerate.

I hope it s not too too long.

Tango Gameworks (Hi-Fi Rush)

I dont think Tango was high priority in that acquisition.
Compulsion was directly bought outright.
Still sad MS let them go, should have held on to them.

That sounds like its being graded on a curve, for sure.

But for a short, atmospheric experience, it's not necessarily a bad thing. Though 10-12 hours of "simple and repetitive gameplay" is about 6 hours too much.

According to the deep dive, there will be ways to upgrade and obtain more moves. Probably too early to tell from only playing 1 chapter of the game. Some of the pros are cons for me, for example the stop-motion art style.

As for lack of innovation in gameplay, I find myself replaying an OG Xbox and X360 games the most in the past several weeks, so totally ok with that and would consider that a pro instead of a con.
I wouldn't say I'm excited for this release, but it is certainly on my radar. If they can keep the cringe moments to a minimum, I think it will be an enjoyable.

It's not a Japanese developed action game, so I don't think the camera will be too cheap and considered the real final boss. Then again, it's not a Japanese action game, so I'm keeping my expectations in check.

A drab, muted, unappealing character jumping through a drab, muted, unappealing, lifeless, filthy swamp. The gameplay is super mid (to put it mildly) “but the game has vibes”.

Bro what is this? Who is this for? They worked on this for six years?

SX version seems to be in a pretty good state and SS is also mostly 60, should hopefully be ironed to a solid 60 by release.

South of Midnight is exceptionally smooth in motion. The game runs at a stable 60fps on Xbox Series X as Hazel gracefully double-jumps between platforms and glides over hazards, oversized brambles and toxic waters.
