Maria feels like she's an attempt at complexity that I fear will fizzle out as I'm still not sure what the extent of her influence is. Earlier recap ep had the military reporting to her yet she seemed to be a figurehead at their whims in this one.

This ep felt like a great little transition to mark the end of Zeta and the true beginning of ZZ with Fa leaving, the wrecked Methuss being evocative of the Hyaku Shiki at the end of Zeta, the arrival of the ZZ, and Judau apparently taking his role more seriously.

I really need to just stick with this. Normally I can just pick a show back up after forever but I always run into issues with this one because there's so many named characters already, all with varying political alliances.

Last of the Kanada eps and it delivered, just full of strange sight gags involving iconic Hollywood imagery. Action was excellent too as per the previous two Kanada eps. I can only expect the series to go downhill from here. :lol

Cronicle's outright disgust at Uso's use as a child soldier is so delicious. I mean in his case there's an issue of pride for losing to him as often as he had but it's been a recurring sentiment among Zanscare forces. Also, the struggle is real. Uso's struggle with awakening Newtype power, that is. Kid finally broke down when he probably should have ages ago.

If there was ever a Gundam protag to be used to cover PTSD, it'd be Uso because holy shit he can't catch a break. The show is becoming weird torture porn for him in that how can we fuck with this kid next.

Peerless Zanscare engineering on display once again. They dno't even fire for the most part, just drive over everything. As far as plot progession, I'm a little lost as the blow struck against Zanscare seemed to be pretty big in the previous ep yet the Reinforce Junior had to feign surrender to a nearby colony due to the damage they'd taken over the past few eps. Tone was far more optimistic than the previous few which was a very welcome reprieve even if the final sequence was really ominous.

The V2 is one of the hottest designs I've seen in a while. The wing effect on boost is crazy sexy. Speaking of crazy and/or sexy, the Uso/Lupe Cineau interrogation was one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen even by Tomino standards.

Ep did a great job of selling the power of the ZZ Gundam. I won't lie, seeing the Zeta get worked like that was kinda intense. I've always taken that sort of thing hard though as I'm pretty sure watching Deathscythe getting destroyed in Gundam W scarred me for life.

Great performance. My only complaint is cutting the performance with other scene and Kumiko monologue. It finally end. It start with Reina crying and end with Reina tears of joy. From fake gold to real gold. A book end ending. The best Kyoani show post Hyouka.
