GTA is a scamWow. You clearly have come into this not knowing what you are talking about.
Squadron 42’s planned release date was *ten* fucking years ago. Maybe go do your research.

Star Citizen also hasn't been in "full production" all this time. They didn't even have the fuckin buildings built for the employees to work in. YOU keep trying.None of those games were in full production during those years since they were busy with other games they've already released.
Keep trying champ

I hope that in 2036 you can come back here and we’ll have a conversation about how you should be given a refund. I’m guessing they’ll have run out of money and won’t be able to grant refunds, and the entire company will have been liquidated to pay off creditors. And a leak of the product that was marketed at s S42 shows how far it was from ever being a finished product. And you have to understand that the game is massively different in scope than they originally pitched. Jesus, look at the original squadron 42 teaser. It's laughable compared to what we got today. It's not like they have just been sitting on their thumbs and letting the money pile in. At the end of the day, it's just a fuckin video game. I pledged 40 bucks ten years ago for the package that contained SC and SQ42. I would rather have today's game, than whatever they were showing in 2012 as their pitch.
Did the trailer from 2015 look impressive too?Well the gameplay shown looks impressive. We will see if this actually makes 2026.
Not more off topic than you crying that a game with release "date" will not come out. We’re so far off topic now (due to your post attempting to be a counterpoint to my arguments), that it’s best if we just end it here. It’s not productive.
I see simps are early to the party. How can anyone actually say things like this? They just showed an hour of actual on stage gameplay and the game looks excellent. 2 more years to polish it up and it’s going to be something really special.
Like… how far up your own ass does your head need to be to just ignore everything they showed at the convention today?
I don’t really care, I don’t have any stake in this. It comes out great, it never does, oh well.Did the trailer from 2015 look impressive too?
It’s literally the only thing there is to talk about, though. Because your comment above could’ve been from 2014, as if no time at all has passed. I’m just trying to spare people from giving money to this *very obvious* scam. Not more off topic than you crying that a game with release date will not come out.
A scam you can't play. Star Citizen you can. So keep crying. It’s literally the only thing there is to talk about, though. Because your comment above could’ve been from 2014, as if no time at all has passed. I’m just trying to spare people from giving money to this *very obvious* scam.
At some point people have to acknowledge a fact as a fact.
Well. The problem is people have given Cloud Impperiam literally hundreds of millions of dollars, and since 2012 there has been essentially nothing to show for it.I don’t really care, I don’t have any stake in this. It comes out great, it never does, oh well.
Please tell me how what they showed today was curated footage.I see simps are early to the party.
It’s 1 hour of curated footage vs. 30-40 hours. They don’t have a game, it’s a scam.
Probably when they close down and cease active development. Sucks for those that spent money I guess.Well. The problem is people have given Cloud Impperiam literally hundreds of millions of dollars, and since 2012 there has been essentially nothing to show for it.
So that’s really the story, is when 2026 blows by and there’s no game, when are we gonna call it?
*Because it was a video*. Why is this so hard? Seriously. Please tell me how what they showed today was curated footage.
What? What video? We literally saw the guy playing it on stage on a computer. It crashed twice. We saw the windows environment and the bug collection report. And then, at the end, there was another in game bug that halted progress. How is this fucking curated footage? The whole point of dragging the poor guy out was purposely to demonstrate it was not a video.*Because it was a video*. Why is this so hard? Seriously.
I’ve been following this story since 2014. I’m genuinely interested how people still think this is perfectly normal and there’s nothing shady going on.
You guess? Yeah that would be a pretty big story. The largest video game fraud in history, to be sure.Probably when they close down and cease active development. Sucks for those that spent money I guess.
I'm disappointed in this comment. You of all people should know that, as a spiritual successor to Wing Commander, of course Squadron 42 is going to have a lot of big actors. Wing Commander 3 famously had quite a lot of big actors, including Mark Hamill, Tim Curry, and John Rhys-Davies. There is no way Chris Roberts wouldn't bring big names for his big spiritual successor.
Remember the Anthem reveal from 2017? There was no game, it was created just for the E3 reveal. They can make anything appear as anything they want. Please tell me how what they showed today was curated footage.
This is seriously 5G in your covid shots levels of conspiracy here. You can literally see the guy on stage in today's demo. The camera is next to him while he's playing. I don't- I can't with you.Remember the Anthem reveal from 2017? There was no game, it was created just for the E3 reveal. They can make anything appear as anything they want.
I don't know, I need a roadmap to a roadmap up my own ass to reach that answer.Like… how far up your own ass does your head need to be to just ignore everything they showed at the convention today?
Look, if the sentence “Squadron 42 will release in 2026” doesn’t at least raise an eyebrow with you, like either you haven’t been following this company for very long, or you are one of the most blindly optimistic people who has ever lived. This is seriously 5G in your covid shots levels of conspiracy here. I don't consider the 3 Ubisoft, EA, Insomniac games released over a 15 year period to be anything other than slop. If Star Citizen never materializes, my brain will categorize it alongside Assassins Creed, Spider Man, and Dragon Age. Zeros. But if it does...If the development of game outlives your lifespan, you won’t either.
The Star Citizen subreddit seems to have gotten much more positive since the 3.8 update. And again, the game seems to be building momentum over it's 12 year history which suggests they're doing something right. This is not a typical “good games take time” situation. Again, strongly suggest you maybe look into it a bit more.
Yeah. You see, they can’t say 2025 because they don’t actually have any idea when or if whatever this game really is behind the scenes may ever be able to come out as a finished product. 2026 is far enough out that they can be like “oh thank God” and not really be under any pressure for awhile. For a moment I said...."ah nice, finally" , until I realized next year is actually 2025. Unreal.
Look, I hope you’re right! Because the alternative is a massive fraud on the scale of hundreds of millions of dollars.I don't consider the 3 Ubisoft, EA, Insomniac games released over a 15 year period to be anything other than slop. If Star Citizen never materializes, my brain will categorize it alongside Assassins Creed, Spider Man, and Dragon Age. Zeros. But if it does...
The 5 - 6 year dev cycle, release mediocre product, rinse and repeat model has been holding the industry back.

You sure like digging up these old articles. It was published 8 years ago and nothing has come of it. The employees are happy, the fans are happy, and the game has more support now than ever; what's your fuckin point? It seems like the only people that are mad, are, ironically, the people that don't have any involvement in the game at all. Like wtf? Just move on with your life. This was published in 2016:
Eight-month investigation lifts the lid on Star Citizen's troubled development

We’ll talk again in 2026. When the next date becomes 2028 or 2029. You pick the date. You sure like digging up these old articles. It was published 8 years ago and nothing has come of it. Well, that’s if Cloud Imperium hasn’t been liquidated yet.
I was beginning to wonder if maybe I was just nuts.That's... the point?
Don’t worry, it’s not actually coming out in 2026, anyway. They’ve been doing this since 2016.Wow, 2026 — I’m assuming that means the end of 2026, which is still pretty disappointing. Cloud Imperium’s expenditures must be massive, considering the number of studios and staff they’ve brought on board. It’s hard to see how this level of investment is sustainable, but with nearly $700-800 million in total funding, who the heck knows anymore.
Still, if they’re really committed to this deadline, hopefully it’s set far enough out that the teams don’t have to crunch like mofos. How many copies of Squadron 42 do they need to sell to recoup costs? It's been clear from day one that they’re banking on Star Citizen to save their bacon. I love the ambition, technology, and engineering behind all this, so as I've said before, I hope they can pull it off.
You are nuts. You are super concerned about a game that will never come out.I was beginning to wonder if maybe I was just nuts.
Don’t worry, it’s not actually coming out in 2026, anyway. They’ve been doing this since 2016.
Seems to me the key question is what’s different now vs when they promised it back in 2014? 2016? Back in 2018? What’s different now, why is *this* time the one that is really gonna happen? The last time CI announced a release date for Squadron 42 was in 2018. They don't do this all the time like many here want to believe.
It's obvious. Previously they just showed a pre-recorded gameplay segment, and said "It's totally coming, you guys." This time we actually got to see a live human person start the game, make a character, and play for an hour. Bugs and crashes and of its beta development cycle glory. If they had just shown another carefully constructed video of "gameplay" it would be a lot harder to swallow.Seems to me the key question is what’s different now vs when they promised it back in 2014? 2016? Back in 2018? What’s different now, why is *this* time the one that is really gonna happen?
It’s not even really that I’m concerned about the game. I don’t have any money pledged. I think what concerns me is how many people still are buying this anymore, like how many more failed deadlines and years have to pass? You are nuts. You are super concerned about a game that will never come out.
