Star Wars Merch |OT| Chewie, We're Broke.

TAJ

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
Force Awakens ain't a prequel, breh. I'm sure there'll be some OT stuff soon enough, if not immediately.

What? I meant that the Micro Machines shown were prequel shit.

Oh. Yeah.

Bright side is, if they have prequel sets on day one, that means they'll definitely have some OT sets on day one.

Just going to pickup the Black Series figures. Kylo Ren and the Stormtrooper for sure, but sure about Finn or Rey. Didn't like the way the leaked figures looked.

Some of the action figures in the TFA line are prequel figures as well. Prequel era Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Yoda are part of the TFA wave 1 figures as well. Makes sense to have a decent selection of prequel toys as part of Force Friday, it's not like they are going to hide from them.

How is Mark Hamill going to store all of the merchandise that will be dumped on his lawn this year?
He mentioned this year he still to this day gets shipments from Lucasfilm of the toys. He asked for them back when he filmed A New Hope and he still gets them to this day nearly 40 years later.

Wow didn't realize that, that's one hell of a perk!

I hope he's signing everything he doesn't want and throwing it on eBay. He'd be making the GDP of a small country doing that, with all the Star Wars merch out there.

From that twitter linked in the OP

Oh shit there it is. On the right. It's that lightsaber.

(Nice figures, too)

Way to break street date. Idiots like the one in that pic make my job harder. I've got all this "DO NOT DISPLAY BEFORE X DATE" and what do the idiot stockers do? Throw it on the shelves anyways! It pisses me off.

Don't care about the size... I want the sphero bb8. They made throne in the movie and it looks soon fucking cool. Probably try and get s figure or two.....

Disneyland is having this weird thing where you pay 50 dollars and you can get in early Thursday. But I see no purpose for it. Is there any leaks or am I literally just paying 50 dollars to be an idiot. (Haven't paid it....yet)

I'm definitely going to pick up the new Force Awakens X-Wing tabletop game set.

I think I also might splurge on the Sphero BB-8, but I will at least need to see it in motion first.

THE FORCE AWAKENS AROUND THE WORLD: STAR WARS FANS INVITED TO JOIN GLOBAL EVENT ON YOUTUBE
THIS IS WHY FRIDAY IS THE BEST DAY OF THE WEEK.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens products are set to be unveiled in the world’s first ever global live toy unboxing event. Unfolding over 18 hours in 15 cities and 12 countries, the event will see highlights from the range of epic merchandise revealed in a rolling New Year’s Eve style celebration featuring top digital stars from the Maker Studios network.

“Star Wars toys have always played an important role in how our fans interact with the saga,” says Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. “They’ve inspired multiple generations to relive the experience of the movies and to create new adventures all their own. These spectacular Star Wars: The Force Awakens products will continue that tradition.”

Kicking off in Sydney, Australia on the morning of September 3 and continuing through Asia, Europe, Canada, and North and South America, selections from the new toy line will debut to global fanfare leading up to retailers around the globe opening their doors at midnight.

Countdown to Force Friday

“Over the course of 18 hours, some of Maker Studios’ biggest stars will each be unboxing a new toy from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens product line in a different city around the world and sharing the experience live on YouTube,” said Leslie Ferraro, President, Disney Consumer Products. “We’ve seen tremendous excitement for these new products and can’t wait to see the global reaction from the Star Wars fan community.”

The Star Wars YouTube channel will host the live stream, which kicks off with the first unboxing in Sydney, Australia at 7:45 a.m. local time on Thursday, Sept. 3 (5:45 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, Sept. 2), with the grand finale at Lucasfilm in San Francisco at 8 a.m. PDT (11 a.m. EDT) on Thursday, Sept. 3. Each of the 15 locations will reveal a new product inspired by Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

These “unboxing” videos will feature online personalities sharing the excitement of opening the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens toys. Unboxing videos have captivated millions of Internet viewers and continue to grow in popularity — 18 of the top 100 most viewed YouTube Channels worldwide are dedicated to toys and toy unboxings. These 18 channels accounted for 8.1 billion views in Q1 2015.

“We’re excited to be part of this first-of-its-kind initiative,” said Chris M. Williams, Chief Audience Officer, Maker Studios. “The unboxing world continues to expand rapidly as audiences around the world connect with digital creators who share their passions. This shared fandom helps attract billions of monthly views and consistently puts the genre at the top of the YouTube charts.”

The global event will incorporate traditional toy unboxers such as the popular EvanTubeHD, channels featuring families such as Bratayley, lifehack specialists such as ExpCaseros, gamers such as AlexBy11, and Star Wars fans from around the world like Chris Pirillo who bring with them a broad audience and appeal. As to what I'll be looking to pick up?

TFA LEGO sets
Rumored TFA LEGO polybags
Sphero BB-8
Journey to the Force Awakens Topps cards
X-Wing TFA Core Game
Star Wars Aftermath book
The three JtTFA Junior Novels
Maybe some Star Wars Black Series 6" figures
Whatever else catches my eye

I buy tons of stuff I don't need, and I generally never have issue with consumerism or commercializing stuff......but the idea that there's now basically an actual holiday for the day Star Wars toys come out is like......BAFFLING. We're so crazy.

The fact Star Wars has its own unofficial (might as well be official) holiday (created for the sake of a shitty pun) was that particular event horizon. This makes sense in light of that, I think.

I was hoping the Best Buy BB-8 would be a bit bigger. Still going to check it out.

I will hold off on the LEGO sets for now as I'm sure TRU will drop them at least 20% at some point.

I'm attending Force Friday. I have a Target and TRU right next to each-other and both are participating. Will be hitting both and scoring as much as I can at midnight.

On this eve of a new trilogy of films and the deluge of merchandise for it... let us remember the days of yore... A long time ago (in the year 1999) when yet another new Trilogy was kicking off:

There are so many Star Wars threads right now I honestly don't know where to post this...

But here we go. This is the 199.99 USD Force FX Kylo Ren lightsaber on sale on Sept 4th.

I can't decide between Toys r us for the free poster, or Walmart. No Target near me is opening, and I have to work at 6am so I can't do both stores. I'm getting aftermath on Audible, and maybe some micro machines or the Lego xwing. Depends on the price.

Some people think that the Kylo Ren Force FX Lightsaber (pictured two posts above) is a Target exclusive... so that might impact where some people decide to shop or stop first.

It is thought to be an exclusive because it was not present in the leaked Hasbro catalog that shows a ton of their Force Awakens merch coming out this month.

Vied for a tag related to cocks, so here it is.
I'll definitely be down for some LEGO, also wanna know if the remote BB-8 and Falcon quadcopter are any good.

Be aware there are no less than two different 'remote' BB-8s available on Force Friday.

One is from Target and uses an RC remote. It's 79.99

There is also a 149.99 version that uses sphero technology and is higher quality, controlled by your smartphone or tablet. It will be at Best Buy and possibly Apple Stores and other stores, it's still unclear who will carry it exactly.

They're doing a midnight opening at the Disney store in Dubin.

Kinda neat, but I'd prefer to see the movie first, then look at the merch.

I'm the UK so it's even more unclear, I assume over here it'll just be in toy shops and stuff in general since we tend not to have all that exclusivity stuff you guys have. Though I wonder if some stuff will only be at the Disney store/TRU, etc. Thankfully I live in a city with both.

The more expensive one is the one I'm after.

I do not think the blades on that Kylo Ren saber are removable. Reasoning: If they were, they would not need to make the packaging so wide as it would be much more cost effective to ship it with the side blades removed to slim down the packaging.

What do you all think

This is important to me because I don't think I will buy it if they don't come off, as the other ones I own do have removable blades so you can display them as ignited or unignited

Just found out about this after seeing it at my local Target store here in Sydney. Turns out, a nearby store will be having a midnight event so I'm thinking of going just for the kicks. I was never really interested in the toys, but I might get one now since they are handing out gift bags.

That looks so much better than the Bladebuilder one. Sadly it's also way outside my budget, this thing is $100+ right?

I think they need to make all of them have removable blades. My Darth Vader lightsaber is not removable, and I really wish it was.
