For every 1/10 deeeerp worst game because reasons there is a 10/10 deeeerp best gamer ever because reasons ... this shit balances itself out in the end... its the same for every middle ground game.

People really expected a game using assets and an engine old as fuck, ideas already used in other games and shitty gen z writting to be a unanimously 10/10???

I wish MS invested in their studios instead of buying any developers and publishers.
Problem is, they barely had any to invest in. That cunt Mattrick started closing studios at the end of the 360 generation when they should have been investing in new ones. I don't see how anyone expects MS to be competitive without significantly growing their 1st party.

It's more of a seige mentality:

I expected them to actually improve on the old systems. They didn't and since the game is more complex, the outdated, never improved, shitty system produces some terribly stupid things. My game wife fucking hated me for no reason and then after one mission she wants me back. I don't think they were meaning to simulate a crazy wife but their shitty system did that. ALso why does everyone know I stole something or did some small crime including the Crimson Fleet, but they have no clue that I am traveling to the enemy to drop info on their every move. Fucking stupid.

The stupid shit you experience while playing this game gets more and more jarring and awful the longer you play. I thought it was a good game at first, 50 hours in I want to punch someone, probably 20 someones for making such awful design decisions but I still need to finish the main quest.

We should organize flash mob under his tweet. We dropped Starfield's score to 71, to spam senjutsu on twitter will be an easy job comparatively.

Why waste a few hours… how about a few minutes?
For the average folk, I agree. Life's too short to be wasting it on things you're not enjoying.

But for people whose literal job is to review games, a couple of hours gives you enough time to engage with the mechanics of the game, given that most games take a while to show you all the mechanics.
And unless the gameplay changes drastically and becomes good by hour 10, you'll engage with those mechanics for the entire game.
I don't agree that you have to finish a game in order to review it.

That wasn’t Mattrick, Phil shut down 10 or more studios including Lion head as soon as he took over.

Phil closed some down too, but I remember Mattrick shutting Ensemble and FASA, around the same time Bungie was lost.

What's funny is MS were still relatively new to the industry around 2008 and should have still been growing their studios, not downscaling. I think Mattrick wanted to rely on 3rd party, namely COD, and this continued into the early and mid Xbox One years.

Agreed with Phil though, he basically waited a whole gen before realising they had no studios. Idiots all around.

I had quite a unique experience with Starfield, I loved the game for the first 24-30 hours, then liked it for the next 12 hours, and the rest just made me feel quite meh.

It's the typical case of that new game hype just melting away and you start to realise that this was the result of 8 years of development? i enjoyed my time and will be going back for the DLC but I can't say with confidence for me anyway that's it's some GOTG as some are hailing it to be.

8/10

So in a few years after patches and mods, GAF will have weekly threads about how awesome Starfield is. I find it funny how suddenly Cyberpunk, a game "everyone" hated, is suddenly great and worth your time. How many said they would never trust CD Project, now saying they are the example others should follow. I am capable of enjoying a 7 or 8 of 10 game. I trust patches and mods will greatly improve the game. I went in knowing this, the same as all previous Bethesda games. I am surprised so many had completely different expectations. I suspect much of it is mob mentality. It is cool to hate on it now. When the game "redeems" itself, it will be cool to love it. Sheeple.

You could say the same about those who blindly overhyped Starfield prior to release (which had much more of that than Cyberpunk).

How quick we are to forget. Pretty sure Cyberpunk had as much if not more hype. Maybe I personally was more hyped for Cybepunk. I was one of the few who enjoyed Cyberpunk at launch. Most threads bashed it hard. Way worse than Starfield at launch.

It was crazy.. I really felt bad for the devs back then

The defenders of this game themselves seem to have zero expectations of the devs. The common defenses of this game I have seen include: it will be a completely different game "due to mods"; the metacritic score will be better "due to mods"; the steam reviews will be better "due to mods". My contention is if the game is mediocre and the devs did diddly squat to improve it, why should the game be rated any better on its store page. The mods and the mod authors should be reviewed well and compensated not the lazy devs, who delivered a mediocre game. Maybe CDPR and Hello should have sat on their asses and delivered no improvements to their middling releases as somebody or the other would deliver mods at some point in time that would improve their games.

Oh I'm in total agreement. I'm in no way defending Bethesda, but just pointing out what's likely to come out of this game. My hope is tons if star wars mods lol

Gamers have the attention span of a toothpick and sensationalist hyperbolic screams. The more outright extreme proclamation, the more drivel that gets fed.

Nah Cyberpunk was incredibly hyped mate. It was the second coming of CDPR, there next big game after Witcher 3. There was an incredible amount of pressure for the game to succeed like Witcher did, and yet it launched to an abysmal technical reception. It did workz to a points on some consoles and PC's but the general consensus was it had clearly struggled during development.

Starfield is what it is, why people are getting so damn defensive on attacking the game is beyond me. Why waste so much time in this thread checking in on people stupid enough to voice their opinions that everyone should be ignored who doesn't agree that it's amazing? Why waste your time on circlejerking the concepts that Bethesda failed and Microsoft is clearly the worst company to ever exist?

I myself am doing just what I questioned, because for whatever reason people need to voice that they hate the game and feel it has disappointed their lives. Okay, cool move on people.

Cyberpunk was hyped, mate, but not to the degree of Starfield and certainly was never called the GOTG (if that's not true, pull up the receipts). Otherwise, it received less hype than Starfield.

As for the rest of the crap you posted — irrelevant. I made a comparison and it has shit else to do with some victim complex you're on.

I don’t agree , CP was hyped significantly more .. but it is very amusing to see that CP is better than Star Field. Look it is very easy to burn down a game to the ground when there was no real competition.. just shows what the media/internet has evolved into .

I mean, you can disagree, but that's the the great thing about opinions. Around here, I saw much more hype for Starfield, especially after release. Of course, its exclusive status was the reason why, but that makes all the difference. I never saw anyone defending Cyberpunk's shortcomings like I do for Starfield, for example.
