It isn't insane, I simply have eyes and brain.
I'm not talking about Mai. With her they may have done an exception because of being a collaboration and the Saudi sheik who rules SNK may have mandated to make her look good or something like that.
I'm talking about Elena, who looks like a man in this game because artists -knowing what they were doing- did gave her male body traits on purpose, following the pattern seen in other characters and in this and other games of making women more ugly and androginous and less attractive on purpose (not the case of Mai), because of woke censorship.
Terry's face is ugly too. But I think that is another topic has more to do with the talent of whoever artist modelled him.
This is why I say to stick off the kool-aid.
"I don't like the new character design and it looks too male to me, so the game must be woke."
"The game is woke, so the last extremely sexy character added to the game must have been designed that way because of some external directive (don't need sources)."
"Yeah, the design team's proven they're imperfect with Terry, but that doesn't need to be considered as part of the whole. There are tons of woke designs in the game elsewhere. It's pervasive! (don't need to provide a model with examples)."
Also, "Woke is this particular thing I don't like and I'm using the term as a substitute for cynical or misguided game design philosophies," but I'm gonna try to stay focused.
It also misses why I called the take insane, because it ignores the most obvious considerations in the foreground, and there's no sobriety in your response. You're not like, "Oh, yeah, Mai's in the game. That was so stupid of me not to consider for my post this extremely obvious and recent thing that everyone would see first because it's recent and actually in the game." or "You're right. I should have mentioned Mai first because of how front and center she is. Here's this source that establishes a connection between her and a directive to design her in this way." Instead you're immediately off to gesturing at a supposed mandate and shouting about a (non-established) pattern of wokeism in the game. I can't take that seriously.
Should have knew this with cover ups and changes to resident evil , and the capcom leak where documents where released of internal documents about how capcom need to be more like western developers going forward with female characters and not have them to revealing , the thing with mai is if they changed her to much there would have been uproar, especially since she in new fatal fury game , after the initial costumes for cammy for the game, outfits 2+3 have been more cover up, not to say I don't like some of them, but there is no question capcom removes or covers stuff in today's games
Same deal really. You're pointing vaguely at some document somewhere (and I have heard of this, but
I'm not pulling it up when you haven't bothered), leaping to 'being more like western developers when that file was released = being 'woke' now', and also that 'Mai couldn't be changed because there would have been an uproar' without taking into account other considerations. The so-called woke mind virus is a foundational pillar of its design philosophy. It wouldn't have moved in a direction that would have resulted in such a crisis because it would have been dismissed the idea during planning. "What if we include some SNK characters in our game, like Mai?" "No, the rights holders would never allow us to cover her up with clothes and not say sexy things."
As for Cammy, her classic outfit is literally in the game, for free, and her new default outfit still shows off her figure. She's exchanged showing off her arms and legs to showing off her midriff with a cropped top, and she's still wearing skin-tight pants that show off her legs if not her skin directly. But, like, I'm arguing surface area of skin at this point and thinking, "Am I really doing this right now?" The character still shows off the litheness of her form during super animations; her victory outro has you looking up at her (butt) as she looks back and down at you. Capcom gets it.
What is this forum's obsession with the idea that every game character (especially women) must look like they walked straight off a Victoria's Secret runway?
Not everybody and not to that extreme. I liken it to a corner of GAF I rarely step into, like console warriors.
Some of it is reactionary too, but fairly so. 'Players like looking at attractive designs' is an ethos I can get behind, and I do believe that some developers have lost the read on what people want, so people are right to be upset, but some fans also take it too far or just out themselves as being kinda gross.

Edit: This is it for me, compadres. I draw the line on internet warrioring on good faith discussion. If I don't feel that a response is considering what I said as a whole, I rarely respond as I don't think it's worth it, so keep that in mind. I've actually gone further today than I usually do anymore.
