I take all the remasters I can get. Recently finished Suikoden and it was great. A well done remaster by Konami. Felt true to the original while at the same time being fresh with a new coat of paint. The only re-release I haven't liked yet is Final Fantasy 9. The blurry backgrounds is awful and stands out too much compared to the characters who are much sharper in detail. It's distracting. Terrible remaster by SE.

I will eventually get it. Never played a Suikoden and plan to do it one day (like so many others old titles/series...)

I am all for re-release of old JRPG or games in general that can be difficult to access (outside of emulation) nowaday.

Xenogears and Parasitive Eve 1 europe release please... We got Chrono Cross in recent years, so I hope these 2 are coming too.

I just started playing those 3 exact games for the first time in the last few days!

Gottah say I don't understand the hype for Suikoden, none of these characters seem to have any depth to them, just as I expected when I first heard how many teammates you can get.

Xenogears immediately had me caring more about the townsfolk, but damn does it need a way to speed up text when talking to people...

And Parasite Eve is super interesting I really love the combat

I never played Suikoden and never got into JRPGs. A buddy recommended the remaster and I'm hooked. Almost finished the fist one, now I want to play all of these JRPGs that have been remastered. I think what i like about it compared to other JRPGs that I have tried (mostly the newish FF games) is that the story is simple and the entire experience is pretty relaxing.
One of the things this series does REALLY well is create a new story for each game, but still have an overarching story that felt like it's working towards a complete arc. There are returning characters in each installment, so you can enjoy that. But then the Murayama, the original creator and writer, left the series in the middle of the third game and the subsequent installments, while fairly good to very good, felt like they were too afraid to continue that storyline. Then Murayama died and now we'll never get a complete arc, unless someone who really understands his writing style and spirit of the series takes up the helm. This makes me super sad, because I loved what this series was doing. There are some very interesting and quirky characters whose mysteries will never be revealed (though in the end maybe that's for the best.)

Unfortunately you may have some issues getting your hands on the third to fifth games, unless you have access to the PS2. Also, the fifth game is extremely expensive and the third/fourth may also cost quite a bit now.

Maybe i'm weird or something, i never like suikoden before teirkreis, and yeah i know some doesnt even like ST. Only like because interested in the visual. I never play the first though, and only touch 2 for a while but doesnt like the music.

I don't agree with calls for a Xenogears remake. I'm sure I've voiced this opinion before, but the form of the second disc has grown on me. Unintentional for sure, but the much maligned chair works in the game's favor by speeding up the story at a point at which most of the game world had been explored and the story had started knocking over its dominoes. Slowing down its pace to revisit old locations would have done it no favors at that point.

All XG needs is a simple remaster with some QOL improvements: An addition of text speed settings, another editing pass on the script, more intuitive jumping rules (i.e. having your avatar stop all movement once you've triggered a battle), and maybe one of those random encounter toggles that are all the rage.

I'm having some of the best and most chilling times of my life playing Dragon Quest III HD-2D. It looks so gorgeous and I keep whistling the fantastic OST when not playing.

And now I'm even more hyped for DQI-II remake!

They are hit and miss. Chrono Cross was a miss, as were the FF remasters, sort of. For me the golden standard are DQ3 and SO2. And TO was great despite the card system.

Imagine Vagrant Story being remade like SO2.
