US Tarrif's Will Exempt Phones, GPUs, SSDs, servers, and ICs - Even Those Made in China

I wouldn't be surprised if China vetoes this with U.S.-specific export taxes. The move could be seen as an attempt by the U.S. to make their side of the trade war less painful than China's.
Though technically electronics is also China's largest export to the US. If they do veto that, it'll hardly be good for China's economy. Wouldn't be surprised if this was a result of some backdoor deal between the two either (something like "exclude electronics from the list and we won't dump US bonds")

Yeah, cheer on the CCP, they've never done anything wrong! Ever!

The way people's dislike for Trump and the threat of their toys becoming more expensive is being used as justification to stan for a totalitarian regime is just... wow.
china doesn't bomb a new country every week and deport citizens for speaking about a foreign country

Don't go criticizing other countries for a totalitarian regime when the orange fucktard up top said he wanted to run for a third term

I will cheer on whoever keeps my GPU prices lower. Whatever China does is hardly any of my business because I'm never going to live there.

Not much of a tariff then, is it? Looks like Trump is back to his old ways of Tweet->Cave->Repeat. I don't even see why liberals are scared of this guy. The contents of the tweets and rally speeches never materializes.

Try naming simply naming Taiwan on Chinese controlled soil/media and see what happens!
Glad none of us are on chinese soil or have any obligation to live there.

Literally nothing they do to their own citizens matter to westerners. We aren't Chinese. We'll never be chinese. You clearly hate that place, and I don't want to particularly live there either.

China's fighting against the US on tariffs and as a result got ol' donny boy to reconsider tariffs for products super relevant to gaming. Give me one good reason I as a GAMER shouldn't cheer them on and hope they manage to get consoles off the chopping block too? Nobody was cheering on concentration camps or censorship.

you can't change their hate for some reason, i'm lucky that i was able to travel to china and other countries and see for myself that most what we see is just curated propaganda

And the way to go about that would have been with cooperation of allies including EU, AU, JP, SK and more. Then support Taiwan.

Back home continue industrial subsidies from Biden, but implement them without BS DEI requirements and myriad of red tape and implement targeted tariffs with long term policy allowing companies to reshore. At the same time work with allies on supply chains including critical minerals.

Instead we got a a world class example of what not to do and that includes 15 min of asking Grok how to calculate tariffs that a 3rd grader could understand. And chaos doesn't induce companies to build factories in same manner as increased prices on materials needed for them.

They've been, for years/decades, threatening military action against Taiwan and Japan. Two countries that are absolutely essential to you as a GAMER.

Are you serious here about CCP and deportation? They don't allow basically any immigration and anyone speaking against CCP is disappeared.

And as far as aggression, those are very peaceful maneuvers around Taiwan, encroachment on Indian territory, building up military installations on disputed islands, bullying Philippines and Vietnam and more.

No, they just put citizens into concentration camps and perform military exercises far too close to other sovereign countrie's seas. Oh and apparently are also secretly aiding Russia against Ukraine now.

Its been three months. We're paying for a bad prison in el salvador, and plucking ...just a few, now... people with no records off the street to send there. Our court was supposed to be able to keep that from happening but we just ignored it. It's not the time to throw rocks at unamerican regimes.

Hate the US and Trump all you want, but don't try to tell me i must cheer for china out of all countries

Because Geopolitics and global economics are way more important to EVERYONE than gaming.

I could spell it all out, but I'm not wasting my time on you, the ramifications are that obvious.

And that suddenly means I shouldn't be happy they're pressuring trump to drop the tariffs that also affect my GPU prices as a gamer?

Well, whatever. Fair point.

Yep! I can agree with you on that front. Too bad we're on a GAMING forum where political talk is dissuaded.

… you don't think you will be affected when CCP invades Taiwan?

with how much the US has been protecting Taiwan for the past god knows how many years, i'm unsure about that being a WHEN and not an IF.
I think if China actually invaded Taiwan they'd be causing World War 3 with the amount that country exports to the entire world.

It's pretty bad, but at the same time whole point is to push against current administration's excesses. It doesn't mean anyone should be cheering for CCP.

Current projections point to 2027-2028 and with Trump wrecking alliances, it's going to be the best window Xi is going to get.

What renegotiation? I'm genuinely curious here, but I really don't know who renegotiated what? And what was unsustainable in what way?

What happened was that we made the free trade agreements with these countries so goods shipped in from outside the us was so cheap so our corporations could make money with cheap labor but those countries were smart enough to not allow US to have direct investment in that country. Like India you can have them manufacture Nikes but you cannot set up a Nike stores in India without a majority partner from India. More importantly you cannot set up American banks in these other countries.
China started lending money to the companies that wanted to manufacture goods there. That led to no real money flowing into the US so then the dumb asses in government started borrow money from china as well as some other free trade agreement countries. So after years of doing that without someone trying to fix it we have been stuck in this endless loop bleeding money and jobs to these countries. Not only that but as a part of borrowing money those free trade agreement countries added different tariffs and taxes on different goods and service for the US.

Basically the US is like a crack head trying to get clean but now owes a lot of people a lot of money.

Isn't orange very strong and fierce?

If he's going to impose tariffs, let him do it immediately and without beating around the bush.

If he's not going to do it, then let him not be provocative..

I still haven't forgiven him for messing with Nintendo Switch 2.

Don't declare victory just yet... The orange schizophrenic says one thing one day... And the next day he says something else.

Assshhh 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Whatever he do or say, don't take it seriously anymore.

Congratulations on what China did.

I hope they punish the Neanderthal with red hat and the Orange for the dumb things they do to their people and the world.

The orange and his friend the Neanderthal are definitely the laughingstock of their country and the world.

This is all from Page 1.

You good, dude? I mean, I am asking genuinely, do you need to take a break from the internet for a minute? This looks a bit unhealthy.

Oh hell no i'm not cheering for them. I'm saying pointing out those particular examples is tone deaf.
Oh, for sure. Nobody should be cheering for Trump and Co either. What I really don't get is the sheer incompetence in implementation of important policy decisions. Like there could have been many various ways to go about trade imbalance, tariffs and so on. Yet here we are.

So why should I particularly be mad at China and not Trump for literally shitting the bed with US global relations? If Taiwan ends up favoring China over the US and decides maybe getting invaded isn't so bad after all there's literally no fault other than our own.

Maybe a lot of people here should have been thinking about Trump's callousness towards other global partners before deciding he was the best candidate.

And that's the last post I'm making here. Don't wanna get banned for overpoliticking.

Taiwan is not favoring China. They are very much against being absorbed into China.

This would be a military invasion like one done by Xi's best friend Putin, but more competent. As a result of said invasion there is a large likelihood of a shooting war between China, US and probably involvement of Japan, Australia and UK.

This will completely wreck world economy, destroy a democratic country (Taiwan) and has possibility of slipping into a nuclear conflict. Not to mention that North Korea might take the chance to give it a go at invading South Korea at same time with US occupied.

As far as Trump goes, remember that a)Only half of US voted for him and b)Other choice was also pretty terrible.

The cabinet is mostly unqualified, so I'm not surprised about how it's going. It sucks.

We know 4sure one thing, if/once china invades taiwan that sexy 3nm manufacturing process from tsmc(taiwan semiconductor manufacturing company) will be gone, coz either china takes it for themselfs, 100% of it, or US will simply bomb the fk out of the foundries to make sure china doesnt get access to that worldleading tech, so for us-gamers consequences of that gonna be pretty nasty :P

These people do not think this through. They don't consider things like the "safety nets" on factories that produces their toys.

Lol
lmao even

BUT the backpedaling means it might be time to buy some stocks again, got the Switch 2 paid from the 90 day pause roller coaster last week. Next goal, couple launch titles!

I am sure Tim Cook had alot to do with this. Guessing anyhow
Gavin Newsome was also cutting deals that using California as a hub you could import there tariff free. Orange manbaby breaking the rules has turned this into a free for all, imagine the second economy only in California for tariff free products lol

When Trump & Co realize that America isn't equipped to make all that stuff during his term is kinda jokes.

Though I'm pretty sure all the billions of $ "Investments" were all prolly made up and put on a show about it to hide the fact that the investments were actually just money being printed by the FED.

Im hoping for a good rebound day on Monday. My tech stocks took a beating the past few weeks, but I dipped into some more averaging down a few days ago. Still got a ton holding cash. But if the tech stocks rebound well next week I'll already be back to break even after a few good days.
