3 Different background. 1 job. Sounds good on paper, but these things dont work out. Too many different viewpoints. They will never agree on how to run the studio.

First Party Studio heads should never come from Finance or marketing. Sony already has a bunch of those guys crunching numbers. That's the head of first party studios' job. let the creatives manage their own studios while you provide Finance and Marketing help.

Being replaced with three guys is also not a good sign - the truth is that he was good enough to do all of that work himself, but this stuff doesn't work in the real world.

He literally spent 1 year for his retirement plan and exiting the industry alltogether.

50 is a good age to finally find time to spend some hard earned money. As studio head replacements go, this is the most non-dramatic one. Just read his letter.

If you are talking about helmet, he is the headchief of sony studios, his decisions have much bigger ramifications than sp2 director deciding if they want 43 woke sidequests or 44 woke sidequests in sp2.

It's not about it being "drama", I have nothing to say regarding his exit and his reasons. I just think it's nuts that they are replacing him with 3 different people, all from different departments.

Thy kind of thing should only ever be a stop-gap (in the event that someone leaves and you need an interim solution), the fact that it's been approved is nuts. It won't end well.

But truth is that Insomniac is a giant company with 3 different teams on 2 different locations. We will see how it goes, at least in my experience multiple people from various backgrounds in charge is not always a bad thing (tho my work background in recent years is Academia).

That's fair. Just agreeing that nothing companywide ends up being one person's doing. Unless you are a founder/CEO that has defined the company vision and culture from the start, like an Elon Musk. As the head, they should take the responsibility, but quite often, it's not just them dictating and everyone following.

Or it just means the business has become so complex that having multiple leads with deep experience and perspective in each area is beneficial to the studio structure
