very true. I am trying to play defensive like SF4(Ryu launching fireballs in the corner) and getting my ass handed to me.

Yeah, do not do this. Do not do not do not do this.

You need to keep moving and work on building combos. You aren't going to get ANYWHERE playing defensively.

Okay so my hands hurt after trying to do some of noel's juggles. That bouncing them off the floor with the gun into a chain revolver juggle eludes me.

It's something like

6B, 6C, 2C, 3C and from there I do 22C, r.6C, 5D, 6B, 5C, 6B, 5C, 236D.

Hey, Ferrio.

Sorry, I didn't respond to your invite. I had literally just gotten home and started it up for the first time when you sent it. I'll try and get some rounds in when I've gotten used to the controls. I completely suck right now and don't even know who I want to be my main :/

For those who double-dipped (and are AV enthusiasts) can you tell me if the PS3 version supports uncompressed audio? Usually all things being equal, the PS3's audio and video circuitry generally produces better sound and image than the XB360. Is this the case here? Thanks!

No worries, I'm getting crazy amounts of lag so it's not very entertaining online for me for the moment.

A big thing is dash and juggle. Throw your enemy? dash toward him, punish him on the way down if he doesn't recover. You have to punish your opponent at every turn.

Won my first ranked match against a Noel that didn't know what they were doing. *Pats self on back*. Man, I have got a lot of work to do in this and fighting games in general. Welcome back, old friend. Except it hasn't been a wholly pleasant welcome, but damnit, I'm here to stay.

If only to hear "boobie lady" over and over again.

Played a bit of everyone and beat a few arcade modes...really liking Bang, Noel, Ragna, and Jin...I want to try Arakune some more but I can't wrap my head around him, I keep trying to run which makes him warp. :p

Also, bang's story mode was great, though 100% on these is going to be damn annoying. I think I did all of his paths and only have 92%, I must need to lose fights or something, but he fights a lot of people in all of his paths...speaking of that, the only other story I did was Jin who is ~87-89% and I DID win and lose to every character, I'm guessing I need to finish certain fights with astral finishes now?

omg I suck so bad at this game... execution wise there's so much I cannot pull off with Litchi.

I have much time to spend in practice mode >_<

btw I'm playing on xbox is any1 wants sum matches with me

As someone who enjoys the story elements in fighting games, BlazBlue is like heaven. I just got 100% on Bang's story and finished his arcade run too. I love the adventure/visual novel style presentation of the Story Mode.

P.S. Teach Me, Miss Litchi is amazing.

Dude you have a ratio of over 60% on ranked matches. That's not advanced level but I still think that's pretty good. Enough to say you don't suck. :lol

How did you get 100%? I'm at 92% for him.

Also, how do you get more episodes of Teach Me, Miss Litchi? I still just have the opening.

yeah timing is key.

I love this game though. I love saving replays though, I wish it saved them as a avc or something or some easier way to show friends.

You have to win and lose all matches in his story. I'm not 100% sure if this includes both
Taokaka fights (Ragna Info/Meatbuns)
, but I did both just to be safe.

I'm not sure how to unlock more Miss Litchi episodes, I only have the one currently. But I've only done Bang's story so far.

Damn, do I have to lose every fight in all the branches? =(

I've done Bang and Jin, though none are 100%, have you done arcade or anything else? I've beaten it with Ragna, Jin, and Noel, but all I've been unlocking is artwork, astral finishes, and infinite characters.

Picked this up for 360 today, it's totally fucking gorgeous and weird at the same time.
Didnt get to play much tonight as my friends wanted to play old familar sfiv, but I intend to dig into it tomorrow.

Really dig the bonus disk though, it serves as a great introduction to what I'm getting myself into. I'm really glad theres only 12 characters, the combos and shit look so crazy it would take forever learning how to play against 20+ of them even on the pretty basic level i get to in fighting games.

Went through training with a few characters. Liking Hakumen atm, but is there a reason he's not part of story mode playable characters. I was hoping get a grasp on stuff there with him but oh well.

And I just heard "boobie lady". Worth the entry price right there.

That's bullshit. How many characters are excluded from story mode?
Hakumen is the only BB character I was kind of interested and I like my story shit for fighters . It's what gives characters some soul.

I think Hakuman does have a story mode you just have to clear it with the other 10 characters to open him and V-13 i thought.

Really? That's kind of pain in the ass but still good if true.

Some questions (even though they might have been asked before -_-)

1 - is somebody playing this with the SF4 FightingPads? If so - does it work out good?

2 - does the us version of the game have the japanese music too?

cheers

You know whats so awesome about the Taokaka "Special Secret Voices" unlock?
That it's in Japanese and I can't understand it. It's pretty long too

So does Noel only say "HANDS OFF THE PANDA" while fighting a certain character? I think it was while using her optical gun, but I forget who I was fighting...

I can't wait to get home and play some more, just a couple things to do and then it's a BlazBlue night.

Aksys games tend to be just like Atlus or NIS titles: ignored by the giant mainstream retail chains. Stores like walmart and target and Kmart and whatever else all tend to want to only sell games they think will move huge volume of units and are released by huge publishers like EA, Activision etc. You'll have to find a more specialized retailer. Best Buy will probably have it if there's one near you. Any decent game store should.

Hey GAF, should I really buy this game?

I only play SFIV anymore.

I'd buy it, but the last time I imported a ps3 game to Poland it took a month to deliver and I'm pretty sure by the time the gaf hype train will leave and people will be asking "Blazwhat?". :lol

haha, true
I'm glad (and surprised) certain GAFfers have stuck with SFIV so long instead of moving on to the next flavor of the month.

Yes you should, this game is awesome. Imagine setting up 3 projectile traps, a bit like Oro in 3S but with 3 things at once, then you dash in and throw into distortion drive, like Gouken's throw into ultra in SF4, then when they're on the way down, you jump up and juggle them to take off half their life bar. <3 this game!!

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be playing this longer than SF4. SF4 was actually a step back from 3s for me. It had the advantage of being the only good fighting game on ps3 until now.

BlazBlue is really the only fighting game to drop since SFIV, and I think it's fun and crazy enough to win a bunch of people over. I say go for it!

BB sounds really intimidating, execution-wise :/

1st day impressions...

- This game is a grind. If mmorpg's were fighting games, this is what it would feel like. Every fight feels so long and carried out lol. Probably because I use Arakune though haha. Even then it seems to take forever before you can get offensive momentum going for either player.

- SF4 easy mode inputs+ This game has even easier inputs than sf4, plus if you have a single button chain like A,A,A, all you have to do is hold down A instead of pressing it 3 times.

- Play on an hdtv!!! Seriously, I have a crt and the game looks sooo bad on it lol.

- Online am win. The online options in this game are phenomenal, seriously capcom, THIS is how it's done.

- Universal truth, rebel! The story mode is fun, but damn those cutscenes last forever lol.

- Hai look at me throw u in a combo! So far from what I've played, a lot of the game's mixups seem to revolve around mixing in throw resets in combos, and attempting to get your opponent to tech how you want to set up your next mixup. I personally don't like the whole combo throw thing, but whatever.

- Arakune is win. BEEEEES

It's not, trust me. The game's really easy to handle. Also, there's a lot of first impressions in this thread, so you hear a lot about the pace. Once you get a grip and are comfortable with the games mechanics, the game is actually very very slow.

Also, I found Balrog in this game, and he's a loli rape anime. Rachel's crouch A is teh win jabz in this game. I can do like 5 in a row lol.

"BB sounds really intimidating, execution-wise :/"

Actually, the execution is wayyyyyy easier than some stuff in SF4. At least for v13 anyway. Mashing that shit *hardcore*.

I'm so learning Litchi..
She's awesome. I downloaded some replays and people were beasting with her. Very flashy combos.

So far, I'm maining Noel. Litchi will probably be my backup.

Kintaro

Worships the porcelain goddess
I need to learn how to juggle in the air. I guess I should watch the DVD/BR that came with the game huh? :lol

Not sure who to main really. Litchi is hotness, but I had a couple other favorites and I still have't tried out the others like Carl, V.13, Hakumen and Jin.

slayn

needs to show more effort.
This game is too hard for me so I mostly just button mash.

I am enjoying story mode though.

Of the characters I've tried, I thus far like Rachel the best.

You can do this w/ the loli rape girl (rachel.) The game gives you neg warning when you put in too many back dash/jump inputs in succession, and you can kind of fool the system with her. You can lay back with her and drop a lot of traps, which, when connected, set you up to deal some damage.
