To me it's a From x Nintendo take on Phantom Dust. You remember Phantom Dust, right? That game MS were remaking for XBO until they suddenly cancelled it alongside Scalebound?
So looking at it form that perspective, I think it's got a fair amount of potential. I also got a tad bit of GunValkyrie vibes in parts, of course alongside Devil May Cry. So yeah it's a MP game but let's be real, there aren't many (or any?) games like this in the market that I'm aware of, so it immediately stands out.
Also yes you're right, sadly if this were announced as a PS exclusive you'd have all the usual suspects immediately getting their marching orders and pushing the same tired "exclusives are anti-consumer" bullshit, but you know what? I also blame SIE/PlayStation for letting that narrative take hold and then enabling it thanks to all their PC ports this gen, and now licensing IP out to 3P to publish on multiple platforms. If they stood ten toes down from the beginning against those narratives (especially knowing, Microsoft & Xbox were behind pushing most of them), then eventually the people pushing that crap would've fallen off.
But instead SIE got too caught up in trying to look good to people outside the fanbase & ecosystem who are programmed to be anti-PlayStation no matter what; they started listening to the wrong people. And now we're here.
I hope they do stand by the merits of exclusivity better going forward, since they have many games showing it's a feasible thing to do and helps embolden faith in your platform to 3P as well. But as far as Nintendo & From Software are concerned, I'm glad they're doing stuff like Duskbloods and I suspect they're be doing more such titles in the future, and that Nintendo will be doing similar with other big 3P throughout the Switch 2 gen....as they should.
