The DuskBloods......Playstation would be crucified online if they announced Bloodborne 2 as an MP only game

I love Bloodborne and From Software, but people would be pissed (and I would be pissed) if Bloodborne 2 was announced exclusively for PS5 and it was MP only.

So I'm confused by reaction to DuskBloods, regardless if it's ends up being good.

I'm also not really liking this MP focus between DuskBloods and Night Reign from From Software as of late.

Thoughts?

And you think people aren't pissed about Duskbloods being labelled as a multiplayer game? bruh

I think I listened to Miyazaki saying that after Elden Ring he cannot really see how can they progress except making the games bigger, I think this is him trying to innovate.

Because Sony actually owns Bloodborne? People would be pissed because "why don't you just make Bloodborne 2 instead"
There's no such expectation with Nintendo .

Also most of the hyped responses came from when the game was announced and people thought it would be spiritual successor to Bloodborne. Now that we have learned more about the game reactions to it are clearly more muted

Yea a sequel to a single player game would obviously be crucified for being online only.

Except this is a brand new game with no expectations and no promises. So why exactly should I be mad FromSoft is making a multiplayer game again?

Also, why are people acting like this is From's first time getting into multiplayer.

I thought one of the big aspects of Souls games and Elden Ring is the multiplayer features?

Obviously, like TintoConCasera mentioned, people already are getting pissed enough over this announcement as well already. But, yes, if FromSoft would do this project together with Sony, it would be a hilariously bad look, the clowning would be unprecedented probably

There's apparently a Director Interview coming out in a couple of days, guess we'll know more by then. The guns and the jetpack looked horribly out of place and made the whole thing look retarded, but I'm willing to hear Miyazaki out.

To be clear, both this and Night Reign will probably be good games. I'm just not into this and hope this isn't the direction going forward.

Is it really about the exclusivity? BB was exclusive to PlayStation so any sequel would seemingly be so as well.

I hear you, but I'm seeing both and more people than I expected seem to be caping for it.
I think there's a bit of many things here: Nintendo diehards claiming it's Bloodborne 2, Sony diehards claiming it's a cheap asset flip, and many, many more people in the middle confused about the "multiplayer PvPvE" aspect of the game.

I don't think it's an overall positive reaction. We'll have to wait a few days until we get more info but right now we are boudn to see all kinds of reactions online. "Fromsoft Nintendo exclusive" alone is enough of a bomb, and all the confusion about the multiplayer is only lighting the fire even more.

My fav game this century is DS1, I have never played it's PVP. DS games are extremely lore focused and single player titles with optional multiplayer elements

If you read through the Duskbloods thread, the consensus is not good. People are pissed. From thinking this was a Bloodborne spiritual successor to Miyazaki giving us high blood pressure, we're currently weeping.

Not so long ago, there were threads on the possibility that Sony would acquire Kadokawa and have FROM as first party.

This is a rude awakening. MP or SP it doesnt change an iotta from the fact that Nintendo has made a deal with From for a game that has the same themes as Bloodborne. So, it begs the question: WHY THE FUCK SONY DIDNT.

I was semi interested when I believed it would be traditional from software single player. Im completely out for MP only Souls. Probably why it's exclusive to switch. Seems experimental and they don't wanna piss off their main audience on the other platforms.

Nobody expected a exclusive from title on switch so if it fails who cares 🤷

To me it's a From x Nintendo take on Phantom Dust. You remember Phantom Dust, right? That game MS were remaking for XBO until they suddenly cancelled it alongside Scalebound?

So looking at it form that perspective, I think it's got a fair amount of potential. I also got a tad bit of GunValkyrie vibes in parts, of course alongside Devil May Cry. So yeah it's a MP game but let's be real, there aren't many (or any?) games like this in the market that I'm aware of, so it immediately stands out.

Also yes you're right, sadly if this were announced as a PS exclusive you'd have all the usual suspects immediately getting their marching orders and pushing the same tired "exclusives are anti-consumer" bullshit, but you know what? I also blame SIE/PlayStation for letting that narrative take hold and then enabling it thanks to all their PC ports this gen, and now licensing IP out to 3P to publish on multiple platforms. If they stood ten toes down from the beginning against those narratives (especially knowing, Microsoft & Xbox were behind pushing most of them), then eventually the people pushing that crap would've fallen off.

But instead SIE got too caught up in trying to look good to people outside the fanbase & ecosystem who are programmed to be anti-PlayStation no matter what; they started listening to the wrong people. And now we're here.

I hope they do stand by the merits of exclusivity better going forward, since they have many games showing it's a feasible thing to do and helps embolden faith in your platform to 3P as well. But as far as Nintendo & From Software are concerned, I'm glad they're doing stuff like Duskbloods and I suspect they're be doing more such titles in the future, and that Nintendo will be doing similar with other big 3P throughout the Switch 2 gen....as they should.

We don't know if they did or they didn't, just like we didn't know about this game before today. And as I already said, From Software owns this IP.

My point is. This game is not Dark Souls, Bloodborne or Elden Ring.

It's a brand new game. So, why should I be mad that it's a multiplayer game? Were you promised by From that they would only ever release single player only games?

To answer OPs question, if this exact game was revealed by Sony, no I wouldn't be mad.

If Bloodborne 2 was revealed by Sony to be a multiplayer only game; that would make a lot more sense for people to be frustrated.

But Sony doesn't even give a shit about Bloodborne anyways.

I am not "mad" myself haha
Disappointed it's not what I WANT? Yeah

But it's what it is. I am sure many will enjoy it, just not me.

And yes, Sony hates Bloodborne for some reason.

Even from this perspective.

I think the reaction would be nuts if PlayStation announced a new IP from From Software and it was MP only.
It still makes no sense. Nintendo's relationship with From Software and Sony's are totally different. There were no expectations for a From Software title for a Nintendo platform.

Same can't be said about Sony, specially after Demon's Souls and Bloodborne. Sony has single player games from From Software releasing exclusively on their platforms since PS1. With that comes expectations. Nintendo doesn't have that. This was a surprise that no one was counting on.

PlayStation was supposed to bring gaming out of the bedroom and make it mainstream and yet their fans are sat in the dark playing with themselves while Nintendo's off multiplaying at rooftop parties since 2017

You can be a shut in loser playing Bloodbourne or you can have friends and play Duskbloods like a socially well adjusted member of society.

It's a game announced for a platform.

I'm not sure why any of that other stuff matters in reality.

I own multiple platforms and will probably buy the Switch 2 at some point.

My interest doesn't change for software based on the platform it's releasing on.

The only thing I ever factor in is control schemes, so for example CRPGs or anything like Xcom, Homeworld, Civ, etc.....I prefer to buy on PC.

Half of Nintendo fans are extremely normal and the other half are basically manchildren.

This has to be a good joke right?

Adult nintendo fans are probably most socially inept breed of gamers going. Nintendo is like catnip for the autists.

Come to think of it, if Sony would have kept From Software closer after either all the KFs, Demons Souls or Bloodborne, we could be playing some cool ass single-player kino exclusives like King's Field V, Demons Souls 2 or Bloodborne 2. Instead we are here stuck with The Dustbornes Duskbloods, a multiplayer focused game... so yeah, I'd say all this is Sony's fault and they indeed deserve to be crucified.

Absolutely right, except in one single and but yet relevant point.

Everybody waiting for a Bloodborne sequel is expecting it to be a single player game, while with this game, no one expected for it to even exist at all...

I have come to the realization that I was hating on Elden Ring (for being openworld), way too early.
They copying ubisoft, was better than them going the GAAS route...

I seriously hope they go back to DS1 style of gameplay at some point, even if it's not a "main" game.

GAF will never stop being eternally butthurt over Sony.
I'm actually butthurt to Miyazaki, like, if you're willing to make a vampires-themed Bloodborne knockoff exclusively for a single system... then go make an actual Vilebloods spin-off to the Bloodborne series for PlayStation, who I'd bet would be thrilled to fund after Bloodborne's 8 million lifetime sales on a single platform in a pre-Elden Ring era.

This feels just as lame as if Kojima were to include an enemy with a pyramid-shaped head in OD while also setting the game in a foggy town -- at that point just go bury the hatchet with Konami and make an actual Silent Hill game.

I believe people (myself included) are disappointed fromsoft is clearly changing their focus towards multiplayer games, instead of the single-player with pvp/coop elements that they were known for.

While nobody is entitled to it, it still is shitty, is like a heavy metal band you enjoyed for 15 years suddenly started doing reggae, it's their product, but as a consumer, you should voice your disapproval.

1. It's a new IP not made by Nintendo. Bloodborne 2 would be a sequel and an IP Sony owns and controls.

2. Nintendo doesn't have a reputation for releasing no games and focusing on GaaS. Sony does right now.

Not the same thing.
