What the hell, scale armor isn't as good as Elven? I just went through a bunch of trouble getting my smithing up high enough to build it and it's actually weaker than the current stuff I'm wearing. Do enchantments do something weird with it? I don't have any armor enchantments or anything, just magic resistance.
No, I'm at level 50 in smithing. It's under the steel section and uses basically the same ingredients.CHEEZMO™;32869272 said:What do you use to make Scale armour?
Is it just Dragonscale stuff?
Iron daggers. Should probably put on some smithing+ apparel or activate the stone that levels up skills that aren't magic or thief related.I am dead set on leveling smithing what is the best way to level it up on the cheap and quick?

Someone's got hoarding issues.
Hello everyone.
Everyone and their brother around me is playing Skyrim, and wondering why I'm not doing the same. The thing is, I wanted to be excited about this game, but Oblivion bored me to death and I can't shake the feeling that this will be a prettier version of Oblivion.
Please sell me on this game. What does this game do that makes it better than Oblivion? Is the gameplay different, or is it fundamentally the same as Oblivion?
Question for any Sneak Assasins/Bow/Dagger specs..
Do you guys max out Sneak and put the point in the 100 pt skill?
Sounds pretty awesome but wasn't sure. Any advice?

It's not just prettier, it has life. That is the best way I can think to describe it. Everything in Oblivion is stale saltine crackers. This is fresh coffee. It's thoroughly engaging and refreshing.Anyone?
Ok so I killed my first dragon and damn, the stuff it dropped is crazy heavy. Any place I can store this stuff, hopefully without having to spend $5k on a house!

Should have picked a Breton
On a companion.
How do you store stuff on a companion?

Agreed. You should sell all scales and bones until you can buy you first house.Sell it. There are an infinite number of dragons in the game and you won't have any use for it for a while.

Ok fair enough I'll just do that. I mean heck, I'm only level 13 and by the sounds of it Dragon weapons/armour ins't unlocked till level 50?!

Is there more going on in the outside world? Is the First Person melee combat still clunky (I thought it was anyway, no offense to anyone), or has that been improved?
I meant sincewe apparently kick Whiterun's ass, the Companions are kept safe/hold their own, right?
wait, wait...You have to fight Whiterun if you join the Stormcloaks? Shit, I was leaning towards siding with the Stormcloaks, but I don't want to fight Whiterun. Their Jarl is the only one I've met that seems like a good guy. I thought Whiterun was neutral? Do you have to fight them if you join imperials, or is it just for the Stormcloaks?
Combat is not really improved. I sneak to avoid the the combat, which is terrible .
But the appeal of elderscrolls is really the world, more so than the gameplay mechanics I feel.

Okay. One final question. Is the story more focused than Oblivion, or is it the same thing where they spend two hours setting up the game's premise and then you have the find the rest of the story yourself?
holy shit i somehow found a way to take the dragon out without it killing the smith....AND THE NEXT DAY IT SENDS ANOTHER
I am not sure what you mean by that. The main quest is pretty much jjust treated like any other quest iñ the game, and it iis pretty straight forward in terms of exposition

So I'm in Heavy Armor and looking at the perks, Conditioning (no weight for worn armor) looks nice, but I have to go through the useless Fists of Steel and Cushioning to get there. Is it worth it, or will I never need the carrying capacity if I keep apack mulefollower around?
Actually I'm realizing that some of the high up perks kind of suck and the best ones, at least for physical characters, are at the bottom: the ones that give flat increases to damage and armor. I mean, the top Heavy Armor perk looks dumb; it's only a 10% chance to reflect damage, and if your Heavy Armor is doing its job it won't be a lot of damage. Likewise I'll likely skip the upper One-handed perks that buff power attacks since I use most of my stamina for shield bashes.
You attack Whiterun with the Stormcloaks and defend it with the Imperials.
