The Iwata Tribute and the shots at Konami made watching worth it, but overall I liked the show a bit better last year. Still much, much better than it was before Geoff made it his own show.

Nintendo must be ashamed to let an Iwata tribute on a cheap show.

Again, a lot of the criticism on this show is not understanding the budgetary constraints involved, such as people complaining about advertising.

It's a miracle these award shows are still going.

People seem to thing Geoff can bust out a 500000 check and get Conan to host. Even a budget award show like this costs a lot of money, which is why there was so much corporate involvement and advertising. Battlefield and EA pretty much funded the Damn show.

I was watching the stream and it wasn't really hidden. They were pretty open about giving it to Splatoon. It was basically the first award given but it wasn't tucked away. It was done.

I distinctly remember too when Splatoon came out loads of people expressed similar sentiments about Splatoon as me. That it's a breath of fresh air in shooters-a genre plagued with brown and gray snoozefests, etc. etc. And the genre hasn't really changed. So, yea. Thanks for reminding me why I was told to avoid the gaming side of Gaf.

I fail to see why undertale is more special than rocket league. I'd be more mad at it not being even nommed for soundtrack.

Rocket League won 2 awards and had the support of big companies, Undertale won 0 awards despite the critical acclaim and was put in 2 categories that it had no chance to win, not put on the category for it's best feature (soundtrack) and got beat on the only category it had a shot for by a game that won on other category.

Again, not dissing RL, but Undertale deserved better treatment, and this felt like just the big boys shitting on the little guy.

"brown and gray" shooters aren't a thing anymore. Sure, you get some still but the whole genre isn't just that.

Black Ops 3 actually has some great color to it. Even in the more 'grey' and 'brown' levels. The colors are hardly subdued and still bright.

I watched Chip Cheezum and Voidburger watch it and they were streaming the yt stream. It was right there in the yt stream at the very beginning. I'm not sure where footage would be saved as it seems the yt video of it cut off the beginning but it was right at the very start of the stream of the Awards.

If you live under a rock and/or have no coverage to shooters outside of the Nintendo bubble, perhaps, but the whole grey and brown thing isn't really the case. Comparing shooters like Halo 5, Battlefront, Destiny, Call of Duty, Gears of War, Uncharted, Shadowfall, Borderlands, Far Cry 4, PlanetSide etc, not only is there a very wide range of art styles explored, but there's much use of colour too.

I only played the beta but the bright colors gave the game a super sharp look to it. It's still just more Call of Duty gameplay wise, and a lot of it, if that's what you're looking for.

I played an absolute shit ton of zombies in BLOPs 1 with my then roommates, but that was the same game where I really burned out on the Call of Duty formula as a whole.
