The Outer Words 2: 11 Minutes of Exclusive Gameplay – IGN First

TF! Horrible first impression and footage to release.

Why/how does it so look so much worse than Avowed, which already didn't look like a modern AAA title to begin with!

Yeah I was pretty much done after they stabbed someone from 5 feet and then whipped out the snot gun that did some lame "pew pew pew" to barely any enemy feedback, but I tapped out when the dialogue started.

Looks as boring, bland and uninspired as the first.

This ain't it, chief.

Straight to garbage bin.
Insufferable character. Check.
Insufferable overly expressive NPCs. Check
Enter into a secret facility and greet a lone scientist, "oh hello"
Game looks so off to me just like the first one. The most boring section ever and this is the one they chose to showcase ?

Edit- Atomfall looks way better.

Obsidian seems thoroughly committed to pumping out 7/10 games that are just successful enough to keep them in business, and nothing more. I think they basically said as much a few months ago. Which is fine I guess. Just seems like making games is a 9-5 job for them at this point.

Mild Success for Made for GamePass is incoming! I can feel the appropriate level of excitement already.

Not much was shown.

Most interesting thing was aluminium foil that was loot able. Which can be used at crafting table.

Looks like weapons upgrade system will be making a return.

Looks to have better atmosphere than the 1st. Too little gameplay to know or judge it.

The obvious characters are already making final judgments and hoping it will suck.

Looks alright I guess, I wonder if they have much better customisation in this one, actually getting to see your character in a few cutscenes.

Also, Credit to XboxEra and Windows Central for already having their 8/10 and 4/5 review first drafts already written, can't knock such dedication and a perfect score could be achieved once they actually play it.

yep. trying to be hilarious, & being just plain awful instead? check...

The combat defo looks smoother than the first 1. As is the humor/dialog.
Not sure why this segment was chosen to showcase footage.

That being said, there will be a whole deep dive with this game after the MS showcase, so we'll prob see more. I'd like to see more of what they did with the open world/playable spaces.

Does anyone know if this is an Unreal Engine game or the same jank that Bethesda uses?

Regardless of people's opinions on MS's game output, they have been consistently delivering a wide range of game genre's since the end of last year from first party studios and are putting some good game choices on Gamepass.

Millennial sassy sarcastic marvel-style writing and dialogue is a blight in the gaming industry.

That companion, good lord. Insufferable after a mere 3 minutes.

I remember how hyped I was for the first game, with Tim and Leon in charge

Then I finished it in 30 hours and it was a "solid 7/10" with zero desire to play it again

I cannot muster any enthusiasm for this sequel, eventhough first person RPGs are my favourite genre

It's sad, man

Five minutes into the video and I was already tired to hear these characters blabbing nonsense.

Not that the gameplay or technical side were any better at leaving an impression, either.
And a loading screen for entering a trapdoor? ..Really?

This reminds me I should give the first game another shot. I don't know why, but when I checked it out when it was first released it just felt so... been there done that.
Strangely enough, High On Life has a much funner time doing a better job at what it does than Outer Worlds doing what it did. In addition it doesn't overstay it's welcome like Outer Worlds did.

If only people gave it as much attention as Outer Worlds gets.

If you ever play Outer Worlds you'll feel better just sticking mostly to the main quest. Every lesson learned after each side quest is to emphasize how much life would suck in a universe where everyone speaks in advertisements and values brands and corporations over their own lives.

I think this game looks okay but the dialogue worries me. Hopefully it will just be a trilogy and the devs move on to a better universe.

I hope they improve the writing overall. I just couldn't stomach the overly on-the-nose capitalist satire (which stopped being funny after 2 hours or so) anymore at a certain point. Mainly because it felt like the writers were hitting you with a sledgehammer every time, which made me feel like they weren't trusting me to "get it".

Eugh, that companion. Looks how fun and zany and ironic she is. Sincerity is cringe after all!

I don't think it's possible for me to be less interested in a game after watching some gameplay.
