The Worst Work From your Favorite Band?

Status

What is the worst album, song, or cover created by, or in tribute to your favorite band, singer/songwriter, rapper, conductor?

Albums and songs that are a shame of that artists catalog?

Come on, Pablo Honey is much worse. And Amnesiac should exactly be elevated over HTTT. Think Tank, the last Blur album, was the most disappointing album of that year IMO.

Dead

well not really...yet

Think Tank is fantastic

i really liked hail to the thief :|

none of the nine inch nails catalog is too bad, even the worst of their stuff is bearable. except when you have a cover band doing a tribute to some of nine inch nails' worst songs

basically put me down for every nine inch nails tribute record :p

I'll probably catch flack for a couple of these but that's ok:

Radio killed it for me.

B000062YAZ.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

In my opinion the most overrated album of all time.
Literally half of it is filler and it's about 30 minutes long.

Don't really need to justify this one. Thankfully it has been erased by Archetype.

DECK'ARD

The Amiga Brotherhood
Think Tank is great. I know it's unfashionable to say so, but personally I think 13 is Blur's low point - far too inward-looking and self-absorbed. It had some *really* great songs on it, but I thought as an album it was rubbish:

Yeep i think they should have kept with some of there demos for this album. As it just pissed me off. Seeing them in November before this album came out i totaly knew they had kick ass stuff, but then the album came out and i was pissed.

I mean its really not bad but now that I look back and am not a fanboy, its pretty weak save for like 5 songs.

Yeah... I'd say about 6 or 7 songs are good, the rest are kinda below average for being Pumpkins songs. That's ok, Machina 2 kicked ass :D

I don't know why so many people hate Radiohead's latest album... it's not bad. The lyrics match the political climate; it makes a strong statement. It has some of Radiohead's best songs - 2+2=5, Sail to the Moon, There There, Myxomatosis, A Wolf at the Door. HTTT is a great fucking album. DeadStar doesn't know what he's talking about. I can't believe you'll listen to Absolution over HTTT. Roofles. Muse is Radiohead for kids.

I still like it overall, and it's got a couple of really fantastic songs (Gainesville Rock City, Look What Happened) but overall it doesn't have the passion and the energy of their other albums. The whole thing feels kind of muted compared to the rest of their work.

Songs they recorded before they got signed to Fat Wreck Chords. Slightly different lineup, only one song from this time period is still played live.

It's hard to pick a definite favorite band... but David Bowie's Never Let Me down is pretty bad. To be almost unanimously considered his worst album is a pretty big put down heh.

People think Hail to the Thief is shit because every song on the album is either a lukewarm retreat of stuff Radiohead had already done, or just really lukewarm junk we have no interest in. The political message -- this may surprise you -- was nothing new, and actually becomes annoying after repeated -- in my case, 3 -- listens.

Maybe I hype this band too much, but Super Furry Animals did much better with the politics thing on their 2003 release, Phantom Power. See, unlike Radiohead, they understand how to be serious, yet have a sense of humor. What I'm getting at is, Radiohead just makes me feel claustrophobic. You hear this song that's vaguely remniscent of two songs they've done before, and it feels like there's no escape from the impact the band desires it to have.

Anyway, Hail to the Thief sucks.

the 1st track is one of his best songs ever and that ep was pretty damn decent. square has done much worse.

I suppose Burningn'n Tree might be in the running, but for me it had to be one of the EPs. I like "Song: Our Underwater Torch" a lot, so I went with this one.

Both Think Tank and Hail to the Thief are excellent albums.

Mine would have to be:

The Battle of Los Angeles by Rage Against the Machine: still an excellent album, but it feels too premeditated and "forced." Evil Empire passed this one not too long ago for me.

I would probably vote HTTT from Radiohead. I certainly know they're capable of much more. Maybe one day they'll remember they were Romantics to begin with, and go back to listening to Smiths records instead of Autechre. I'm among the most miserable fucks in the planet, and i revel in depressing music, but Radiohead post-Ok/KidA haven't really been doing it very well.

*fires up "Let Down"*

In an effort to be different though, i nominate "The Tain" EP by the Decemberists. I may get flack for it, but i just CANNOT STAND to listen to Colin and gang do their best Black Sabbath impression. It's god awful, horrible, and should be avoided at all costs IMO.

Ahh, things were so much more peaceful when I was away from GA. :p

HTTT is my favorite Radiohead album at the moment. It makes you feel claustrophobic? Well fucking good! I feel claustrophobic, and like there's no way to escape everytime I watch the news! Shouldn't there be an album that reflects that sort of feeling?

Anyway, the closest thing I have to an answer for this thread is probably Sea Change by Beck...but I'm sure I'll warm to that eventually, though the country-ness is kind of grating on me at the moment.

I don't have just one favourite band, but this AIC album comes to mind:

I mean, WTF?

Spaghetti incident was atrocious, too.

Maladroit has great songs (December, Take Control, Slave, Death and Destruction), and it has bad songs (American Gigolo, Space Rock, Possibilities)

Green album, in my opinion, every song except for O Girlfriend is great. O Girlfriend is just crap.

It makes me feel claustrophobic because it sucks.

iron maiden - no prayer for the dying

i'm not going to count the 2 albums that were recorded with blaze, while i am not a fan of them, there are some good songs present on those albums, it would be great if they re-recorded those albums with Bruce

in flames - soundtrack to your escape
reroute to remain

just bleh, ander's clean vocal singing is awful, it's like a bad jonathon davis impersonation or something, the wonderful guitar melodies and solos are all but absent, i understand bands have to try new things and what not, but these albums are just steps in the wrong direction

they are so much worse than the jester race, whoracle, or colony, its not even funny

You know, if Megadeth's Risk was a debut album for another band it would have been excellent. There is nothing wrong with that record aside from some messy production and the name "Megadeth" on the front.

I'll take Risk over The World Needs Another Hero anyday.
