Tomb Raider IV–VI Remastered |OT| "I Wouldn't Worry. We're Not In The Same Class."

Those circular blades suck, but just eat the damage and use health packs. Generally when they are opposite to your back you can slide down. Going up is worse, they didn't even disable them once you touch the ground lol. But you get so much health packs, even outside of secret rooms. A lot of pots and tables you can shoot for items as well. Use them. Entering a loading screen also restores health completely.

I finished the Citadel. Its a short dungeon but one that doesn't really make sense too and its hard to find the initial path. With the torch I could get (by now, if you find a torch, you likely need to burn something except for the scarab room where its useless), as you see some obvious camera pan when you enter. But then the water area after the compass puzzle (another easy one). I didn't realize the 2 small trapdoors would lower the water that much further, it doesn't make sense and the cutscene doesn't show anything.

Using enemies to destroy objects is sometimes obvious, and sometimes not.

When I wrap up 4, I want to play AoD for the first time ever. My expectations are low.

Finished TR4, yeah, if I needed a reminder, for me, it's up there with TR1 and TR3.
Unpopular opinion, don't think TR2 is that good, it has one of the best levels ever at the end, from Tibet onwards the real Tomb Raider begins. The 1st half is a miss, tons of enemies and bland modern environments, I liked some parts of the Maria Doria levels, that's it.

Still have Chronicles to play, but for now my ranking of the classic era is this:
1:TR1
2:TR3
3:TRTLR
4:TR2

TLR is really good, the reasons it isn't over TR3 for me is that it's not so diverse in locations and the music, don't know, for me the music just isn't on par with TR3, let alone TR1.
The bad, some obtuse mechanics in the game with what items or things you could interact with or not and some uninspired parts in an area for me in Cairo, other than that, an amazing game.

I like how everyone runs from TR3, I've seen the game relegated behind Chronicles or AOD, lol, it's an amazing TR game, sure, it's unfair at times, especially on PS1 with limited saves, but it's far from being a bad game. I've seen polls among hardcore fans where it even is nr1, so the game clearly is viewed as one of the best.

Only issue with TR3 is flipping switches never really shows you what you even opened or changed unlike the first 2 that gave you a small clue. TR3 is more like you did something go figure out where it is.

Only set of levels that annoyed me was London. The rest were more understandable.

I'm about to reach that point. So far so good so i hop that's not true.

One thing i've noticed: The FMVs in this collection aren't upcalled and that's a bummer. The Last Revelation has some great ones.

V is so underrated. Franchise fatigue plus coming out after PS2 launched didn’t help, but I hope more people give it a shot.
Yup. It's such a fresh game after The Last Revelation being all about Egypt.

I'm at the Chambers Of Tulun which is 8 levels after Alexandria...all good so far.
Also if you think the earlier levels are dark...

OLED owners, you've been warned.
Even I had to adjust the gamma levels.

VC Industries levels have always been sexy to me, also Ireland story can be some scary shit.

Perfect example of how a short game doesn't equal bad. Though even back then it feels like an expansion for TR4 rather than a numbered game of the series.

I am in Mastabas, TR4. And its so far the only part of Giza I don't like.

There seems to be nothing wrong with the game so far. Yeah, the modern graphics are fucking dark. I couldn't even see the ropes above the spike pits in the Menkaure pyramid. I was trying to shimmy etc, only to die. Until I flicked classic graphics on.

I also dabbled with modern controls. Its... actually good. You have much more control, which makes circling around enemies and running away from rolling rocks etc a breeze. If you hold R2, you will always grab the ledge if you happen to fall off. So there is little reason not to hold R2 during jump sections. You can't backstep (only with weapons drawn I think), but it matters less. As long as you have some space to run, you can make 3 tile jumps when you press the button. Angled jumps are very easy on modern as well.

It shouldn't be a problem to include backstep if you hold Look though (put that on R1, that button is unused otherwise), or put it on D-pad when you hold walk or something. I don't know why this wasn't chosen.

Small gripe, but why is her waist so fucking high in the remastered graphics

Make her ass look way too long
Should be something like this

I wrapped TLR for the first time ever. Here is my thoughts about it.

Its the best Tomb Raider game. Its actual tomb raiding full stop. Its a throwback to the original, but bigger and grander in scale. It could use some directions, because you have a bigger playfield too. And they didn't really balance it out to the player. So sometimes you can't know where to go, and you can't see some levers. And I would never know I needed the binos+flashlight.

Tutorial level: sucks. And awkward dynamic with Von Croy.
Set: very good. I also like the set piece after this dungeon with the jeep.
Karnak: The best. You aren't going to find more authentic Tomb Raider.
Alexandria; really good but a lot like Karnak (more open in fact, but it all connects very well). Train was a good action stage inbetween.
Cairo: the worst. But I liked it. I would prefer they simplify this; just go to Tulun for nitro, go to trenches for another part. Upgrade bike and go to Citadel. They forced you to visit each location at least twice. Though they are small.
Giza: really good. Okay, I hated scaling the pyramid and I didn't really like the Mastabas. But the dungeons here are short (bar the fucking underwater maze, that part sucked) and Giza is almost completely linear in progress.

In the end you need all your ammo, you have a reason to waste all your super grenades on big scorpions and some minibosses. Its kind of fun blasting away. Normal arrows, poison arrows, flash nades are all useless though.
