UK Studio Closure: Ubisoft Leamington Has Officially Shut Its Doors. 185 Jobs Axed Earlier In The Year.

Ubisoft Leamington has announced that it has officially shut its doors, after it was confirmed the company would be closing down as part of a wide range of layoffs at the Assassin's Creed publisher.

After many incredible years, we want to share the news that Ubisoft Leamington has officially closed its doors. We are beyond grateful to our talented team, whose creativity, passion and dedication have left a lasting mark on the games we've created, the memories we've shared and the community we've built in Leamington.

As prat of this transition, we'll be merging our account with Ubisoft Reflections, where you can continue to stay up to date with the latest news and developments from our UK team. For those of you who are in and around Leamington, you'll still see our remaining team around town, and at local industry events.

The repercussions for the 25% Tencent buy out had already started earlier this year before the public announcement I reckon. I think we are going to see a lot more of this happening in 2025/26. The down-sizing will be good thing for Ubi; them being the inefficient bloated dinosaur that they are.

Who would have though? Can't say I didn't see that coming.
Hopefully its for the best this time.

Ubi was so scared of its success that it said: "Damn, we need to slow down. We don't want to overshadow other publishers and take over the industry"

This is just the beginning...

I don't think AC Shadows generated enough cash to account for failure after failure after failure...

I'm honestly surprised who though otherwise. It's not like Ubisoft its some giant one to afford multiple losses.

this shutdown was announced in January, so has nothing to do with Assassins Creed.

Ubisoft really needs a turnaround to cover for their years of bad decisions.

Good. Bye bye!

Why are you celebrating people losing their jobs?
Why specifically are you happy that the folks who made DJ Hero and Guitar Hero Live are out of jobs?

Not diverse enough

A support studio, it seems. Sucks for folks losing their jobs.
They usually work alongside Ubisoft Leeds(Reflections Studio)
The talent is there but they're always used as a support team these days.

UBI has a lot of staff. 20,000-ish. I think the most gaming employees out of all companies. Might even be more than MS even though they bought Bethesda and Activision.

Nintendo as a company including all staff and functions (incl hardware people) is at 8,000.
