I already commented that my take on the name change is a distraction. And you just used it in exactly that way to turn the conversation away from the future of democracy to the name of water.

You don't have a good answer for anything else I said so you are recentering on water. Yes, this is exactly what they want.

My opinion is that Trump intended for it to be some big booyah America fuck yeah thing as a dumb distraction, but it came from a place of marketing and hyping USA as coming back more powerful and better than ever, not geographical knowledge. That's how it was delivered at his inauguration speech, which I watched live. Trump simply saw America up here and Mexico down there. He didn't consider that it was in fact all America and we're just the United States of it.

So to answer your question, the name makes sense in theory because the body of water is surrounded by America, but why did we make this name change right now at this exact moment in time? Because it creates a funny show of power dynamics with Mexico, and people will let you take away everything they have so long as you make them feel big asserting dominance over supposedly lessor people while doing it.

I was alive before internet. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I could freely exchange with people from all parts of the globe as we do now. Seems to me we are in a way. And North and South America are continents, so I think it's ok.
