What do gamers actually want?

Not my problem. As much as I care, they can keep making games that not enough people want to play, when they don't really care about gameplay, systems, innovation, and so on. When they do care about that and still don't sell, then gamers should find those games and champion them.

It would guarantee nothing

It would guarantee that the same people who did the incredibly awesome 1+2 would do the third and fourth game. Of course that are a lot of variables like budget and dev time, but if 3+4 is done by like Grove Street Games then it's a nonstarter.

I want more games with T&A jiggle like Stellar Blade. I want girls in my games that I would never get in a million years, not ones that I MIGHT do if I had enough beers in me (and I’m an ugly guy).

Simple. NO MORE WOKE SHIT

Since most of Western games are infected by woke virus, it's hard to be excited for new Western game anymore, no matter what or how many being announced. When a new Western game announced, I say, it's gonna be woke garbage anyway, so what's to be excited about

No fucking shit..

I'm talking about the actual quality of the game

Bringing in the exact same team guarantees nothing in terms of quality

Friend, if I bang your mom and it's awesome, does it not at least give me a pretty good indication it would be awesome if I did it again?

I want more risks and fresh ideas.
Stop making everything so samey and sanitized. Get proper writers, remove the activists.
Not everything needs to be 100 hours and filled with slop to pad the length.

Gaming going mainstream was a MISTAKE.

Great games that are more immersive and superior than the current ones with the focus on gameplay and features that are better than games from 15 to 20 years ago, not worse with less option's, also new games from the best IP's TES, Fallout, Bioshock and Dishonored, etc. i'm not gonna say HL3 lol, they don't want to give us the games we want and Mobile and MTX make too much money now for them to care really.

Let's say a publisher like EA, Sony, MS, Ubisoft shows 10 games coming out in 2025. Those 10 games could be across 4 genres, various art styles, aimed at different audiences. Someone who only likes 1 or 2 types of games will look at that showcase, see 1 or 2 games out of 10 they like, and then say the showcase was an F. Then someone with a youtube account makes a video and talks about how the showcase was an F, then it feeds into the echo chamber, and we all start to ask ourselves. Was that showcase an F?

Gamers need to realize that not every game made is for them. There are people with wildly different taste and preferences, and their money is just as good as yours, so publishers greenlight games to sell to them too. The reason they didn't use to make a lot of those games is because those audiences mostly kept quiet to themselves. Now that everyone has a soapbox and even girlfriend simulator enthusiasts are open about their preferred games, we have a better idea of who everyone in the audience is.

Me? Single player games as a focus.

Gaming has always been a private hobby to me. Couch co-op is a lot of fun with close friends, but going online and battling randoms in COD, Fortnite, Rocket League, etc. is not my idea of fun.

Well as always there are many types of gamers, i for example want they stop making souls games because i sucks at them, others love them.
I like modern games but at same time also dislike some things, so you can't answer a simple question like what gamers like...
For example some people hate the direction Fallout 3 took, i wouldn't touch any Fallout that play like Fallouts before FO3..

Everybody has their different interest, so the best you can do is have a wide catalog of stuff to choose between.

The last State of Play got the reaction it did because Sony didn't really show any new game from their studios, just multi-plat titles, and a few of those were more souls influenced games.

The biggest issue with AAA though isn't just copy-pasta games, it's that the overall genre variety for them sucks, but that's because the casual user that forms the majority of purchases for big-budget games likes only a handful of genres consistently. Many types of games that existed in the PS2 era never got to graduate to AAA budgets, because only the core audience liked them.

Feeling like something new and out of the box for me. Its probably why Im more into indie games lately, as thats where you can find more oddball ideas and creative worlds.

That and games need more interactivity... I know it doesnt make or break a game, but Avowed is a perf example of how it all feels like a SET. Like everything is all glued down and cant interact with shit.

Hate that.

I think developers need to shut the fuck up and stop getting into arguments with fans. The amount of extra curricular bs that gets brought up is so tiresome.

Getting lectured by devs about game development is also irrating as fuck. It's 2025 and some of us have been playing for close to 40 years.

Don't talk down to me cause I was gaming when you were just swimming around in your daddy's nutsack

I'm pretty happy with the state of gaming to be honest. There's consistently more good stuff coming out than I have the time to play. I'd like to see more new IPs and ideas in the AAA space, but I can also live without it, and I'm excited for the sequels we are getting this year to be honest (Starting with Kingdom Come 2 and Dynasty Warriors Origins, then Doom the Dark Aged, Metroid Prime 4, Ninja Gaiden 4, Death Stranding 2 and more)

Also:
- "Gamers" aren't some hivemind that all have the same taste and want the same thing. Having people complaining about remakes and other people begging for remakes isn't gamers being hypocrites, it's simply the fact that there are literally hundreds of millions of people playing games so you'll have millions of people who want more remakes and millions of people who are sick of them.

- The whole "you say you want new IP so you need to like and support EVERY new IP" argument is dumb. Yes I want new IP, but at the end of the day it still has to be a good game, I won't spend my limited time and money on subpar games just because they are a new IP. We still got new Ips doing well this gen: Cyberpunk, Stellar Blade, Wukong, Hogwarts Legacy (base don existing IP), Metaphor, etc all did great.

Personally, i want games that are just as good or better than the ones i played and loved in the past.

It's pretty simple really. Devs have more resources now and they get more as technology advances. They have all the tools to make better games (not just graphics) and they also have easier access to more information.

So i can't really accept it when a game is worse than a similar game in the past. I can accept it if their lesser skills and talent can only produce a game nearly as good, but not worse.

I also don't count the value of money when i play games. I'm not going to play a mediocre or bad game just because it's cheap, or even free. What matters for me is that i spend my time, which is more valuable than money. If a game isn't exciting enough i just prefer to do something else.
