Can’t say I know much about those are they are extremely rare, but from what I gather :

It removes the fresnel ridge and god ray problems, has no impact on brightness, still requires a big focal distance so the headsets are as big as fresnel solutions, they are very expensive and heavy. I think only the Varjo headset has this.

The future is clearly micro-OLED/micro-LED + pancake when prices become reasonable.

There’s the Oculus prototype with holographic lenses which are don’t know much about and probably not ready for consumers until a long time for cost reasons. Has super small form factor, high resolution, no optic distorsion, address the focal distance. Eventually this is the way to glass form factor headsets.

Looks like aspheric lenses will still be the choice for some (bulky) high-end headsets.

For example, the new Pimax Crystal replaces fresnel lenses with new coated glass aspheric lenses meant to increase light transmittance and reduce stray light and aberration. New coatings will also reduce the amount of blue light and make the lenses more resistant to scratches.

The Pimax 12K will use a novel ”bionic” lens, combining aspheric and fresnel lenses. It will have a horizontal FoV of 210 deg, and vertical FoV of 135 deg.

There's so many solutions in the end, each company can develop their own optic solution.

Even Sony's PSVR 2 fresnel lens, if they followed up on their patent, has an anti god-ray coating.

Nice argument, first of all, quest 2 costs 399 and when compared to the console setup maybe you want to include the 2000 dollar pc you’ll need and still have a smaller fov, resolution, lcd screen, no eye tracking and foveated rendering etc.
It's a retarded comparison. What I said was true. Quest 2 is a $299 headset from 2020. He's comparing it standalone to a $550 headset that if you use standalone doesn't even work. Don't act like I initiated that stupid comparison. The "$2000 PC" claim is bullshit, too.

Cursing doesn’t suit you.

This is what you typed:
PC has plenty of good looking racing games you can use with Quest 2 or Quest 3. It's retarded to compare a mobile chipset from a $299 device from 2020 to a $950-1050 monstrously-sized console setup from 2023.

You are comparing PC + Quest 2, and not as a stand alone, to proceed with a comparison with the stand alone version to a 950 dollars PS5 + PSVR2. So yes, that 2000 dollar pc you need for a comparible experience is not bullshit, it’s just the truth. Sure you can use Quest 2 stand-alone, but that’s not the case of your comparison in literally your first line.

Also, it is not 2020 anymore, it’s 2023 and the e Quest 3 is 399 now.

That’s the point. It’s stupid to compare a standalone $299 device to a $1000 setup when the $550 PSVR2 does nothing as a standalone device. The correct comparison would be with Quest 2 + PC, but showing the Quest 2 even with hardware from years would defeat the point of his trolling. That’s what makes it retarded.

I priced out a Quest 2+RE4 and Ryzen 5600+3060Ti PC here about a week ago and it came to $1300 for all of it. That’s why your “$2000 PC” comment is bs.

A 3060TI with a Quest 2 is not gonna give you the same experience my friend. You have to have a strong pc with at least a 3090 and something like a expensive headset to get the comparison going. And then you still have just a lcd screen. Quest 2 is nice for what it is, but it is not comparable with the new PSVR2 hardware.

It’s irrelevant if it can give you the exact experience. The PSVR2 gives you no experience when compared as a standalone. You either compared standalone to standalone, or connected to a PC to connected to a PC.

The PS5 just got dunked on by a 2060S in the Returnal comparison. PS5 is nowhere near a 3090. That Pavlov comparison you’re referencing is comparing ETFR to no FFR or area masking. It’s another bs comparison.

Sure if you only look at raw horsepower a 3090 is way more powerful, but you can’t just look at that. See Xbox series performs almost always slightly worse than ps5, yet it’s tf count is 20% higher. Why can’t you compare what you’ll actually see on screen? You know, the thing that matters. And that’s why PSVR2 with ETFR is so good. And to get a comparable experience on PC you have to empty your bank account.

I think VR glasses is a design trap. Have you ever looked down and felt like your glasses were going to fall off?

It's one of those things that sound like a good idea, but in practice it's not.

The halo/knob thing just works. A design that incorporates both the bobo m2 pro and PSVR2 could work.

The bobo headset has these extra supports that rest on the top part of your head that takes a lot of pressue off the front.

The psvr2 replacement for the facial cover takes off the facial pressure. No red marks anymore, but I think it also makes it harder to get a good fit, I'm fiddling a lot with it.
