Quick question: I bought a non-TMSS model 1. Is there anything special I need to do to it to play mega drive games?
^nice! i just sent ZAMN to CGR a while back, heh.
i had a loose copy of Rampage edition for years before realizing it's a whole other (better) game too!
^isn't it awesome? i love it, just picked up the Sega-CD version to review later on for Sega-16, i've just gotta find time to get through it now
^discovered those ones in recent years but they're among my favorites too! which ones are you missing to complete the set man?

The TMSS program keeps you from playing bootlegs and non-licensed games. Japanese games are licensed games, so it doesn't affect them at all.
J games are also too wide for the cartridge slot. Some have no region protection (Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair) and some have it built-in to the cart itself (Monster World IV). Hell, some Sega CD games even refer back to check what model Genesis you have before running. Only way around that is a region switch mod on the console itself.
Doesn't the mega ever drive also let you switch the bios region for the CD?
The Mega Cart I own lets the Sega CD boot up in any region BIOS you choose, since all three regions' hardware is basically identical. That's enough for most games.
What I am saying is that some Sega CD games check back to see what region Genesis is plugged in before they decide to run or not, and the only way around that is to use a region switch on the Genesis.

Has the the mega amp mod been discussed in here? I read it described as a discrete audio mod which I presume means that it pretty much eliminates that annoying background hissing noise on models 1s. This also aparently introduces model 1 level audio to model 2s since it's a universal mod... I'd link to some yuotube demos but I'm on the tablet right now. They are there though -- very impressive.
Is that related to the CCA mod?

Any links to it? That's the first I've heard of the "Mega Amp Mod".

WOW, sounds great!
I think I've stumbled across this before. Crazy approach. Wish he had better capturing equipment though.
Edit: Spoke too soon. I see he has nice audio captures in the 2nd half of the video.
Woah.speaking of audio mods, anyone see this crazy mod?

Wait they're making physical copies of Overdrive? I want one. How can I get one?
We have made 30 for now, which all are sold already..We are seriously thinking about a 2nd batch because the demand seriously exceeds the availability..
But its time consuming, the carts/pcb's have been produced in china, the eeproms soldered in ukrain, the cases and shells scavenged from ebay, sending everything across europe and we are now finally at the stage of putting everything together, folding the covers and posters, stickering the carts, and slowly starting to send em out... soon![]()
^you beat that one? congrats gunstar, that was a favorite of my buddy's growing up! a CIB copy stays on my want list to this day
