Right now I feel very unimpressed by the visual quality of the PC version.
I don't know if the 60fps videos from Gamersyde and the other footage showed so far are using any specific PC feature, like the already announced HQ texture pack, but it certainly doesn't show off in the visual quality impression.
I know this game is a "last gen" title too, but why can't we have a PC version of a CM game in 2014 where lighting and reflections look a bit more like this?

1-There's a HD Texture Pack announced?
2-To get visuals like that for the PC version they would have to make a completely separate game on PC which is clearly outside the scope of that project. This is not how game developpement works. The PC version is a port of the console version so outside of the stuff that comes automatically (higher resolution and 60 fps) I wouldn't expect anything special.
Grid A is clearly a stopgap project to fill in a hole between Grid 2 and the first Next Gen game which will take a little while to make. Grid 2 came out a year ago... I see GridA as a final send off of the EGO Engine where they use all the content they previously created for the Grid and F1 series and combine them in one big game before moving to the new engine.
Hopefully they are working on the engine upgrades for Dirt 4, which I hope will be their EGO Engine showpiece for the new consoles. Autosport comes only a year after GRID 2, so I wasn't expecting a lot. New cars, some new tracks and improved handling system are enough for me.

Yes, available to everyone for free (on Steam) on Day 1. It ups the textures of cars to 4k.

First is Driveclub and second is Forza 5 (two next gen games)
So, I remember reading somewhere that some new features will be added to the PC version beyond just higher res textures for cars.
I thought I've read about windshield reflections and such, but haven't noticed anything watching all those HQ videos from Gamersyde.
Can PC players expect more control over quality settings that haven't been featured in available videos yet?
Ah ok. Just wondering if it was either P-Cars or Assetto Corsa, neither of which I own yet. Because it didn't look like Shift, where the driver wears white Alpinestars.

In terms of quality settings, there's plenty of options in the game for players to tinker with. We're still polishing the PC version too, so still a few weeks of love being thrown onto it.
You don't have to buy them.

Not for the new consoles apparently, according to a lot of posters in this thread.
I pre-purchased on Steam, can't wait! I hope that drifting won't be like Race Driver: GRID with the more realistic handling model. I liked drifting in GRID 2 a lot.

Apologies if this has already been covered but apparently someone has already played Grid: Autosport for 19.7 hours according to Steam.
There was a press preview in the last couple of days/weeks (see my post earlier in this thread about my impressions on the game).

It's all well and good press sites telling you about the game but I figured it's better coming from one of your peers amongst the Community.
Probably a developer? I checked Loore's account and he has also played the game.

Yes, it was exactly that article what I remembered. As I said, so long I can't see any such effects in the showed footage.

I played Grid 2 with that user mod that placed the camera inside the almost completely barren low res cockpits, and it was still really good. As you drive you don't even notice because you are so focused on the track. I really commend them for their decision with Autosport, knowing they probably will receive some criticism about the look. But as someone who only likes driving games from that POV, it really makes me happy.

Grid A looks like the perfect "FunSim" for me since.... Shift2 (but Shift 2 PC with a LOT of mods).

Loore, I just noticed that the description on Steam talks about a 10% off on the price. Is it already included in the price or is it just not there? Or maybe I'm not seeing the "-10%" because I already have the game?
Also will the "Black Edition" stuff be available as a purchase after release?

To confirm:
The 10% off is for owners of GRID 2.
The Black Edition will be available post launch, but won't be day 1.
Great to see the gents at InsideSimRacing enjoying the game, am sure they'll like the improved AI the team have put in since the preview as well
Watched the video of Darin in the SLS when he starts 11th, the AI are quite good, the thing i noticed was that he was never clipped from behind and into a pit maneuver. I hate it when you get swiped by AI youve just passed as they either dont back off or stick to their line like a brick.

We've upgraded our AI since then as well, it's now a lot better on Very Hard

Because, Codemasters has clearly listened to its fans this time round. And, to be honest, i enjoyed Grid 2 unlike a fair few other people. Autosport sounds more like TOCA, and that is all good IMO.

Ok, how about only the ones that consistently release unfinished and broken games on a yearly basis, fail to fix even a small fraction of the problems then take to pubic forums to shill to people with zero capacity for self reflection and under the pretence that this year will be different, that this years iteration will fix all those old issues, that we're changed, that this time baby, this time it will be different?

I'm so tempted to Pre-order this considering I already have both on Steam and also had the PS3 version of Grid 1 & 2 as well. I only have 5 games on my Steam wishlist and this is one of them. The last video sold me out on the game, if only the Wallet could let me..! :/

HNNG, now I feel I'm going to miss this and you are all going to miss someone to get in the last place! Guess I'm going to play a little more Grid 1 by myself later on. Will keep an eye for those Community events with some fine fellow GAFfers.
