2015 PC Screenshot Thread of the Only Place Where Compression Isn't

I guess all that fast running and gunning, I never really stopped to look at how bad the textures were in Rage. Or they didn't age as well as I remember. Either way, you're not doing the game any favors pointing them out :P

Ha, no they mostly look like shit for screenshots but if you're just running through the game with 16k textures enabled it looks utterly fantastic in motion. The lighting and skyboxes look amazing in some areas.

Edit: Fricking Steam deleted all my Launch commands for high-res textures and whatnot so no wonder the textures looked shite. Replaced all the shots with how the game should look. Sorry for the unnecessary additional posts..had to delete the crappy ones.

It's definitely a game that looks better in motion (though it's not stunning, but it has it's moments for sure).

Just set it to safe or ignore. Hatti is a stand-up guy :)

Here's a quick test:

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate || ReShade || Hattiwatti's camera tool || 2 shot pano

Nice :D Now can somebody explain me how to set up this tool :D I downloaded files and started them in safe mode with Antivirus disabled and clicked Inject. That is probably wrong way to do it :D

Just start the game, start the injector, pick Syndicate as injection target and inject. Free camera controls are in the hotkeys txt file, "insert" toggles free camera on/off.

I tried that but it doesn't work unfortunately :(

The game was patched today, don't know if it breaks compatibility with the injection bits.

edit: To be clear, for me it worked yesterday, but after today's patch it just crashes, so I'd guess we need new bits and bobs.

You need to have Microsoft C++ Redistributable 2015 installed.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

I had the same problem. I'd click inject and nothing would happen. Then I installed that and now it works. Camera controls aren't the easiest with the keyboard (hopefully he's going to do controller support) and there's no timestop short of alt-tabbing from windowed mode (can still control the camera). But it's better than nothing.

Yeap that was issue. But now game just crashes. Oh well i will try later few things and see if it works. Tnx anyway.

No problems getting Hattiwatti's camera to work with Unity. Controller support would be sweet but I like that the camera moves quickly, although an option for smaller increments would be cool.

Man.... while I do appreciate low FOVs for screenshots, it's only zooming in on the horrible LOD in that game. My eyes go right to that blurry, 6 polygon excuse for a building in the center of the screenshot :(

That's default FOV believe it or not. Here, take a look at this. Same blurry ass texture.

What pisses me off about the engine is that you can see that Ubisoft tried, but the potential is imprisoned by ancient tech. The LoD, vegetation, physics, and other features all hint at an engine that is being stretched to its limit. Not a surprise that Syndicate's been a step back in terms of visual fidelity and density. Hopefully Ubisoft will finally have a reliable and solid engine for the next AC.

Never came out, did it?

Nope, they never did release it. The option for it is there in the .ini file and I've got it switched on, but I don't think it's actually working.

What sort of AA method did you guys use? Maybe it's just me but I'm finding TXAA is over softening the image at times.
AC Unity.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's an optimization needed for the huge amount of different geometry / textures they run in frustum space, which eats up a lot of memory.

Then again, the PC team porting the engine/game has a very poor trackrecord, so I wouldn't be surprised they simply didn't bother much: they likely can utilize higher memory sizes with better streaming in these situations but as that's not the general case, ubisoft definitely won't care / create a budget for adding this.

Nevertheless, I am happy that the tools are available, so unity / syndicate are worth playing :)

I do wonder how Ubisoft's Snowdrop engine is coming along, and if it is being built in such a way that it could be potentially used to replace other Ubi in-house engines.

Depends is it an engine issue, or are they doing it to save resources

Both. We've seen the shame shitty LoD with this engine since AC2 back in 2010. Look at how they removed so many interiors and props in Syndicate compared to Unity. I really think they need to get some serious optimisation done before expanding any further, or perhaps they'll just transition to Snowdrop, as someone else suggested - which I'd be fine with. Game-agnostic, publisher-wide engines are a great model to follow.

See that cmd window that pops up? You can set the camera movement and rotation speed in there. Hatti da man!

I realized that afterwards, it was lurking behind the game window. Thanks man. Yeah the guy's a genius and I can't thank him enough. I can't wait to try some of his stuff out on the Frostbite games.

Been playing with some DOF settings in McFX. Hopefully my amateur photoshop skills in covering up the objective marker aren't too noticeable.

AC Unity. 5k
