I'm not really familiar with J-Law's black long dress incident, and Aloys not wearing a burkah or niqarb or anything so bringing up the taliban just seemed kinda random to me. The model's beauty isn't being covered up, her whole face is changed to be more of a Jimmy Olsen type. What I'm interested in here is how I don't like the graphics that everyone likes so much, because of how Horizon's astonishing technical achievements are somewhat hampered by questionable artistic and style choices like dumb costumes that don't look cool, Michael Bayesque dinobot monsters, and the now sufficiently meme-ified derpification of the lead character.

Maybe i'm dumb, but i don't understand why female protagonists must necessarily resemble Disney princesses.
I mean, if you need one in your life just go for the real thing.

The world is made up of pretty, average and ugly things, and i don't mean just the external appearance. I cannot imagine media that only show these idealized aspects and attitudes of our lives. People are defined not only by their own virtues, but also by their defects.

And it is not that we are deprived of attractive protagonists in games or movies, because it is an important element of creative vision that will always be there, for one reason or another. Let's not reduce every single artistic concept to this one aspect only.
Diversity in art is what provokes discussions and confronts points of view, makes shit more interesting. Even if it mainly boils down to mocking comments from fanboys, i'd rather take that than just pure admiration for a product so perfect in every respect that it leaves no room for futher discussion.

Good point in your last paragraph....discussion is good. If games are to be considered 'art' like TV and movies, then they will have criticism as well. That's fine.

Nobody's saying that protagonists need to resemble "Disney princesses," as you say. However, intentionally modifying a character due to a certain ideology or point of view is being looked down on by a lot of posters- IF that's in fact what this is. I don't see how saying that a character should look more like the actor or actress portraying that character is bad or a big deal. There are plenty of ways to maintain that 'realism' without such modifications.

Also, if we use the case that games will mirror TV and movies as 'art,' tell me....how many ugly people are starring on TV shows or movies these days again? Are those characters in movies and TV 'realistic?' Yeah, I think we all know the answer to that question. Because they are 'entertainment' they often represent the IDEALS of the human race rather than the reality. Now with games, we already have characters like Nathan Drake and Aloy that can tirelessly climb and jump up MOUNTAINS AND CLIFFS, regardless of grip and upper body strength ratios...then effortlessly aim rifles or guns immediately after with no shaking..... So how exactly is appearance the ONE THING that they'll make "realistic?" Is that really the hill we're going to die on when it comes to video games???

There’s literally people trying to petition the developers to change something so menial and stupid as her jawbones. People have truly gone insane.
