Why in the fuck is zenimax taking down these vids 1 day before the games launches?
It's funny how opinions differ. I couldn't get very into Dishonored or the sequel, I really like Prey, and Deathloop was my favorite game last year. I was hoping the would build on their momentum.
I suspect the review thread is going to be a shitshow.
If it manages to bring in impressive scores, the rioting begins.
If it brings in scores that are in line with the naysayers, let the gloating begin.![]()
Those instant kill melees are pretty weak. They couldn’t do better than that?
The second half of this sentence defeats the first half of this sentence. You could give most of these devs systems packing i9s and RTX4090s and the game would come out the same - we know this to be true because their PC versions already exist, we already have RTX4090 cards and i9s running them, and they still run like dogshit. Mid-gen refreshes do nothing to help developers who simply can't properly optimise their games in the first place. We desperately need mid gen console refreshes, if for no other reason than because there will ALWAYS be incompetent developers...
Surprisingly similar trajectories. I did "The Good Doctor" in DH2 like three times and always seemed to stop there; if the reviews for RF show a complete misfire in gameplay (I've got no issues with the art aesthetic after playing PREY and DL back to back essentially) I'll finish that as I've now got ARKANE on the brain, but RF will have to just completely and utterly fall on its face for that to happen.
My favorite will be the folks suggesting they were truly willing to give the same a shot but "Oh dear, all these lukewarm reviews. . .why THIS is just the final nail in the coffin - " as if they haven't been spending every thread shitting on minutiae.
. . .already seeing a little bit of it in this thread. Glorious shartshow indeed.
Probably difficult to get a read on that by looking at what is, for all we know, a prerelease version recorded, uploaded and compressed and then saved, uploaded and compressed again. Was the original video even 4k?Aslo looks like even though the resolution of the game is technically "4k" the level of detail is definitely not. Low res textures on the vampires, the street signs, the crosswalk, ambulance, etc.
Games now look marginally better than last gen. If they can't do something good with the hardware they have now, I wouldn't get my hopes up that they'll be able to do it with a mid-gen refresh either. We desperately need mid gen console refreshes, if for no other reason than because there will ALWAYS be incompetent developers.
Look at the recent games that are coming out and how badly they perform. A more powerful machine would be the difference between 30 fps and 60 for this FPS (it's an FPS it fucking needs 60 to be enjoyable)
Look at Jedi Survivor with its 800P NATIVE RES lol
Whether it's the fault of the devs or not, these consoles can't handle what they're putting forth
The original was better. Yes the compression is bad on these and wasnt great on the original but things like pop-in with the LoD you can see despite compression.Probably difficult to get a read on that by looking at what is a prerelease version recorded, uploaded and compressed and then saved, uploaded and compressed again. Was the original video even 4k?
That for instance is not a result of video compression.Quality mode btw

Releasing their first $70 game, an FPS, without 60 fps ...I hope the game gets destroyed by reviewers. It's as simple as that for me this is unacceptable and MS needs to learn their lesson.
People defended forspoken. If people are willing to defend this then there's no better summation of how far standards have fallen in recent times.
It looks bloody awful.
Christ, this texture...Quality mode btw

It’s on my goty list. Right with your mom!!!
I really don’t get what visual style they‘re going for here.Quality mode btw

This is Arkane's style and has been for awhile. Both Dishonored games and Prey (to a slightly lesser extent) have these exaggerated features, like big hands.I really don’t get what visual style they‘re going for here.
They‘re clearly not going for realism, but they’re also not going for cartoonish either. It’s like they’re trying for a hybrid of both and doing neither well.
For urban realism, the original The Division whoops this under the table and, for cartoony urban combat, Sunset Overdrive looks better than this by a wide margin. And Sunset is a 2014 game.
Left 4 Dead 1 & 2 looked better on the Xbox 360 than this game does on the Xbox Series X, and those Left 4 Dead games were released back in what, 2008-2009? This game is just underwhelming is all I can say here from what I'm seeing in these video clips.
There‘s no shortage of bullet sponge, FOMO, coop live service games. When people get past that & it get a few updates I think it will be one of the games everyone look back on & learn to love.
Now this is what I am expecting from the review and OT threads (if there even is one). For reference, here is L4D1:
Never has the accusing-spooderman.jpeg been more appropriate. Clearly.
A 68 is actually a good thing. It's the same as a 69 but I'll owe you one68 meta incoming
I would be surprised if it even gets passed 60.68 meta incoming
They were going for a retro PS3 look.I really don’t get what visual style they‘re going for here.

is this a preluded of thinks to come?
Okay... why is the gun still out like the player can continue to fire when he's obviously dead at 0 hp? There's like a delay?
